The Official NeoGAF "Introduce Yourself" Thread

Not so great at introductions but here it goes. I've lurked Gaf, since 2008, as a way to keep up with gaming related news. Eventually, I managed to have the guts and make an account.

I am Portuguese, have a degree in Criminology and currently am studying for another in Computer Engeneering & Programming while working full-time in a game store. Tetris was the first game I played and my first console was a MegaDrive II (you know the special stages on Sonic & Knuckles? I tried to get to the end of them... 'tried' being the key word here).

Asides gaming, reading about nearly everything is my main hobby... Whatever leftover time I have is spent binge watching documentaries/series.

As you can deduce from my avatar, Bloodborne is one of my favorite games ever and, in my opinion, so far the best game released for PS4 (fight me!).
Bloodborne is sooo good! I really liked Dark Souls 3 too.

Hi all. I play all sorts of games, but my favourites are strategy, particularly the Civilization series. I have a few consoles but mainly play PC.
I've lurked here a while but decided to actually start posting only recently. It's great to be here :)

hi gaf i was a junior member for many years due to mostly reading and not posting much and a lurker before that when i was in highschool without an academic email. i suddenly realized recenntly ive was made a regular memeber and i feel so free now. its just a pity im too busy with art school to really play videogames anymore save on breaks but i mean to get back to it at some point.

Welcome to new and old/returning members of Gaf.

I've been reading Gaf since '10 or 11, but only registered a few years ago. I guess I was so used to just reading stuff on gaming side that I retained this passive behavior. I also blame great games that have been released lately because, unlike some of Gaf, I use my time actually playing the game than posting about it. :p

I mostly use PC and Nintendo systems - I also have a PS4 but haven't really played anything on it after Horizon, and MHW still hasn't released here (and I hate it). I look forward to playing with some of you in online coop games (MHW, and Souls games), and perhaps have some genuine discussions. My avatar's from a screenshot I randomly took from Odyssey, it's cowboy Mario (I think it came out pretty good).

As for OT, I rarely go over here. I was planning to post something in the "Gaf communities being militant" but just decided to skip it. I'm that kind of guy - boring. :lol

Hi, I'm old.

Been here about 10 years now, and at 50 I'm probably one of the older GAFers. Doesn't stop me from being a video game afficionado. I work in IT as a programmer and senior Unix administrator. So, I'm basically a big kid with greying temples. Got one kid in college, the other about to graduate high school. Had a wonderfully spirited debate with my 18 year old about consoles vs PC gaming yesterday, just like being on GAF!

If I had to list a favorite all time game, it would probably be the original Baldur's Gate saga.

Its nice to hear from guys (or gals) that have been gaming for a while and to still hear that it's a part of your life, I think that's really cool. I will be saying the same thing when I hit 50 and i'm totally not ashamed lol.

When I was in my 20ies I was too busy trying to fit in, and stopped gaming for a while (also because of my girlfriend at the time who thought that's just for kids and I should act like an adult). It was at my 30th birthday that some good old friends of mine gave me a PS3 as a present (sometimes your friends know better than yourself what you might need), and I've been getting back to gaming since then, starting with Demon's Souls. Today I'm not ashamed of my childish hobbies anymore ;-)

Damn that sucks about the whole gf hopefully you with someone who isn't as shallow or happily single. If you started gaming again by playing Demon's Souls I applaud your choice :) Here's to many more years of gaming to us both! Cheers!

Hah, sometimes you just have to convert them. My wife thought games were kiddish too early on. Now she's addicted to Pokemon and Splatoon 2. And while she doesn't play it herself, likes to watch me play GTAV. "Hey, we haven't seen Trevor in a while." :)

I can drink to that :)

And yes, I'm currently in a relationship with someone who accepts me as I am and not as she wants me to be ;) She has been quite curious while watching me play through various Souls-games, while I got a number of Manga to read and Anime to watch from her. Cultural exchange in a sense.

Aloo!

The name is Day, John Day! Have been lurking the forums for a couple of years, have loved it ever since.

Will be posting mostly from mobile, most probably while at work (NOT procastinating! Promise!).

Mostly play RPGs and few action games, but love haming overall. Just don’t have the time play lately. Also looove OT, and reading the community’s take on all sorts of topics. Glad to see GAF is stepping up better than ever!

P.S: EviLore’s photo with Obama has to be, like, TIME’s photo of that year. 🤣

Hello everyone,i've been here since..omg..sooo many years..Posted like 30 times,so i guess i am lurker?would not change a day, cheers to all of you who have made my darkest days seem worthwile.sr about bad english, but this has really been my goto place for fucking fifteen years,so here's to you!

I am an old with family and kids. I play mostly shooting games like Gradius, Battle Bakraid, Strikers 1945, G Darius, that stuff. Pinball is delightful. My favorite videogame is Rez. The fusion of game mechanics and licensed tracks excite me. Game titles and communities have become samey and unsatisfying, so I have been developing my own original arcade-cabinet title for years.

My avatar represents the Superplay Mixes. I produce superplay replays of one life clears. Then I pretend we live in a world where established bands, musicians, and songwriters wanted to create Various Artists soundtracks to videogames like in the commercial film industry. I rework entire videogames with different, better, impossible soundtracks.

Thank you for having me.

Hey everyone! I've been lurking here for seven years yet never cared enough to post on this forum, until now. I enjoy mainly RPGs, visual novels, shooting and fighting games. (I really miss the community section on this board). I am in college on verge of graduating (biochemistry). Pleased to make your acquaintance and I hope to befriend many of you!

Hello All, My name is Rich. I'm 40, married, have two boys and have been on NeoGAF since around '07 but had to wait several years and a few rejections before finally becoming approved in 2011. I am self employed as an IT service provider which I've been doing since 2003. I like most types of games but tend to really enjoy narrative and/or western RPG's. My avatar is a piece of art I created for a hobby game I've been making off and on for far longer than I care to admit.

What's up Gaf, I am Birdman (or Th3Birdman).

Used to post here years ago, but was "culled" back when this place was...that place.

I am a YouTuber, a voice actor and a damned good debater so watch out! Lol I am the second biggest fan of the New England Patriots after FitzyGFY, am a proud Corvette owner, and I will literally play any game that exists. Or any game that my subscriber base asks for...they're a small but vocal bunch.

Anyway, I look forward to interacting with you all, and some healthy debates!

Hi guys I'm lessthananth725 or less or Anthony. I'm from Pittsburgh, I drive a truck for a living and enjoy Games, sports and some good old fashioned wrasslin. I first found Gaf after following fatbaby from epileptic gaming. That had to be over 10 years ago now, sheeeesh. I dont post much but keep on keeping on Gaf. I love you fools

I am a 25 year old guy from the Netherlands, who's been lurking the Neogaf forums for quite a few years. With the release of version Neogaf 2.0 I saw an opportunity to register and took it.

I've been a PC gamer for most of my life at this point, though in the past I have owned both the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 (and a few handhelds like the Playstation Vita, Nintendo gameboy, Nintendo DS etc.), and I'm currently considering purchasing the Nintendo Switch.

The game genres which interest me most are RPG's and their multiplayer cousins the MMORPGs. However I play games from a lot of different genres ranging from the aforementioned RPGs to FPSes and even card games like Hearthstone. One thing I'm not however ashamed to admit is that I'm a bit of a blizzard fan, and I've played pretty much every game they've released in the past 10-15 years.

What I do for a living is building web applications (full stack web developer) with my specialty currently being frontend development in the recently released Angular 2+ framework and Typescript, in combination with a backend written in Java or Kotlin.

Hi,
Lurking since early 00s, gaming since I was a kid, Atari, a few others I can't remember their names, nes, snes, and so on with Nintendo, ps2, Xbox, x360, now mostly pc, played cs at uni on lan in 2000-01 when it was a mod, Rts and RPG fan but enjoy most well made games. Playing Paragon (till April :( ) , pes2018, and trying to get into python.

Star Wars nerd, didn't get into it till I watched all 3 on vhs in 2000, subsequently a big Canon fan of star wars, Grand Admiral Thrawn is the best star wars villain IMO, and make I, Jedi into a movie or a mini-series, anything Zahn was pretty good also.

At the moment can't stop following development in news, fan of intelligent discussions, anything science really, read the perfect theory and that got me into sciency thinking, space and NDT in general I enjoy watching or reading about. Will pick up most community, arrested development, Rick n morty, Psych references (mostly).

Music... I'll wrap up now, look forward to taking part since Gaf has slowed to a pace that's more manageable, and lost most of it's toxicity.
Personal stuff I'll ease into, hello again to all of you.

Hello, everyone. I am nightmarcher26. My name is a concatenation of a powerful attack name in the Pokémon TCG (Night March) and the set number of one of the Pokémon that wields it (Joltik). The Pokémon with this attack are all otherwise unassuming and weak, but they are among the most feared in the game. This is why I loved the deck archetype so much and why I proudly bear the name. I look forward to participating in this forum.

Hello everyone! I am Livia from Norway, and i've been lurking here for about 3 years I believe. With the new version of Neogaf, I thought I should try to register with my free e-mail, and it worked! I've always wanted to post here and now I can. I have a wife whos older than me, and have no interest in gaming lol. And in my free time I obviously play video games and love playing my acoustic gutar! I honestly can't wait to react and discuss this years E3 on this site with all of you, and i'm looking forward to great discussions in the future aswell!

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

I'm Gaming Enthusiast, best known for creating legendary threads on PurpleGAF (resetera) such as "Have you ever genuinely fallen in love with a videogame character?" & "Marvel Movies or Nolan's Batman Pictures". I've recently decided to move here as i was creating a lot of cognitive dissonance among members of my previous forum.

Here is a sneak peek at how my time there was ended:

I was on here several years ago due to having a comcast email quite a while ago, then got banned for a comment on Tycho Brahe’s apology being critical of the way people were acting against his apology on “being a bully”. It was probably for the best because I probably would have been banned anyhow either for GG stuff (which I had hardly any thoughts on), or just being on the wrong end of the ban hammers that were out in full force the past few years.

I’m trying to just keep my opinions on movies and games. The political discussions is just simply not my forte nor do I really want to get into them. I’m glad to see that level headed discussion is seemingly coming back.

Hello everyone, I've basically been a lurking junior since 2012. I'm a Hardware Engineer at Intel, in my mid 30s with two kids. I spent 4 years as an enlisted member of the US Air Force which included one all-expenses paid trip to Iraq. I've basically been involved with video games my entire life as my dad was one of the earliest game developers, made arcade games as well as atari, genesis and playstation games before he retired. Naturally, my wife is not the most approving of my hobby, but I'm responsible and she tries to be understanding :)

I like to read off-topic just as much as gaming, I'm most interested in understanding the view points of people I disagree with. I didn't post much on GAF before the exodus, I'm trying to be a little more active now since it seems a little more welcoming but we'll see how it goes :) I play a lot of Overwatch on PS4 and I'm always looking for people to do some quickplay or arcade with so feel free to PM me if you're interested! I try to watch all Overwatch professional matches that I can too, the first e-sport I've been genuinely interested in but I'm hooked!

Hi all, its great to meet you. I'm 23, Australian, and have been legally blind (2/20 vision) since my birth. I've faced a lot of challenges in my life, but I try not to let them get in the way of the things I care about, and one of them is gaming. I've been a fan of video games since my family got a Playstation 1, and after that my older brother got a Dreamcast and it had some of the games I remember most fondly from childhood, from Crazy Taxi to Soul Calibur to Giant Gram 2000 (still one of the best wrestling games ever, though its overlooked) to even Looney Tunes Space Race. Since those days I've been a Playstation loyalist, with my favourite game of all time being The Last of Us. I'm somewhat limited in what games I can play due to not being able to handle small text, but I usually try to focus on the ones I can play. I'm also passionate about football/soccer, classic Simpsons, wrestling, history, writing, and much else.

I live with a lot of pain and have often struggled. Its hard because I have glaucoma and I know that my sight is one day going to get so bad that my options will be further limited. On the upside, I got a guide dog last year and he's been a blessing, helping with my independence and mobility. :) The only downside has been the cost (long story, but the Australian NDIS hasn't really helped me at all), I actually started a page about it a while ago. It also gives some extra detail on my background, and some of my dreams: https://www.youcaring.com/joshuagreentree-1070940

Hey all,
Im Ronnie (or Zyn online, Burst to most) Texas native, but been to California, Georgia, Virginia, Louisiana, Hawaii, Colorado, and Okinawa, Japan. I'm 22, and i guess i started 'gaming' at the age of 4 with the NES, skipped everything else and then got my first personal console at the age of 7, The PS2. That console is what really got me hooked on video games. My top 3 games would probably have to be Dark Souls, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Been a lurker for about 2 years, and now finally a member so that's cool i guess.

hey peeps, nice to meet you, I'm yuki. I lurked for many months before being approved in...September I believe? After that I made some posts here and there, mainly to respond to dumb people or fake white knights who just wanted to be part of the mold. Now that those people have been purged for the most part, I hope to be more active here again.

I'm 27. I like pretty much all types of games except for RTSs and WRPGs. They're just not my thing. I like many series including Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Ratchet and Clank, Dark Cloud, Gran Turismo, Super Smash Bros, Overwatch, and many more. Lately I've been playing Monster Hunter World and Iconoclasts on my PS4.

Hi. I think it’s really interesting that at your age you started gaming with the NES. That would’ve been about 2000-2001 yeah? Did you get directed to it by an older family member?

I wasn't part of that batch but I suppose I should finally say hello. My name is Becky, and I was a lurker on here for a while before the split. I thought about registering but I was always kind of bothered by the atmosphere. I'm pretty left leaning in some ways, but I'm also right leaning in other ways, and I just felt like you had to be afraid of what you'd say before or else you'd instantly be branded as some type of evil. I'm not saying NeoGAF has made a huge swing in the other direction but I feel like it's actually safe to have different opinions around here now so long as you're not specifically out to hurt other people.

I have a few "boy" hobbies thanks to my dad who I think wished he had sons instead of daughters. When I was old enough to start playing games he gave me his Genesis which I think was an excuse for him to get himself a Saturn. I fell in love with it and have played games since. I'm not good at every genre but I like to try anything and not write stuff off until I actually know if I'd enjoy it or not.

Hi all, name's CyberMoose! I mainly play RPGs, FPSs and other kinds of action games.
Aside from playing games, I aspire to become a 3D animator (for games).
I'm happy to see that this place and it's users have become more welcoming/open-minded and less, well, toxic/authoritarian. I hope to discover new games and maybe make friends!

Hello, I'm Johann. I'm based in Tokyo and mostly do corporate Japanese to English (and vice-versa) translation and interpretation work, but my company recently launched a video games news site which I'm now writing for, and I was advised by a friend that hanging out here might help me keep track of what's trending. We're also trying to launch a Japanese-to-English translation service for video games but it hasn't really panned out yet.

Our site's focused entirely on Japanese stuff but I'll play basically anything that isn't a sports or racing game (just not my cup of tea). I am skewed a bit more to RPGs though.

I never really got into social media and haven't posted on a forum since the early-mid 2000's so I'll probably be mostly lurking for the time being.

Well with Monster Hunter, Switch and PS4 doing so well, you should have plenty of interesting perspectives that we don't hear in the west...
MH is particularly hot atm with most of the hardcore destiny community flocking there.
