Xbox One X Enhanced Games - Full List of Titles and Details

The Pro came out at a time when BF1 was hot. Right now there are simply not enough people playing it to justify the effort.

Personally I’d be okay with dynamic resolution.

Titanfall 2 comes to mind. An X patch and ongoing support for a game that released the same time BF1 did. Respawn does things right.

There's a small tidbit of news in the first Halo MCC Development Update just posted for 2018 on Halo Waypoint:

Full blog: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/mcc-development-update

It's worth a read. It looks like the X update is a fair way off but it sounds like they're rebuilding a lot of the core of how MCC hangs together, all from scratch. I'm impatiently looking forward to this. Give me Halo 2 Remastered in 4k/60 native please :D. Take as long as you need 343.

cool.

are the multiplat games looking better on xbox one x than on ps4 pro?

Very much so. As someone whose gameplay time consists of 99% of multiplat games: it's fantastic. I think Monster Hunter is the only questionable one that I can think of and that's due to developer incompetence/negligence. The visual gap is only going to get larger now that the X exists in the development pipeline for major developers and isn't just an after thought to be quickly patched with support post-release. It's a good time to own an X.

And?

If they want to be up Sony’s arse that’s totally up to them and their call. More power to them.

But if they have the balls to release a game on different platforms, then they should have the right support for those platforms and not give the finger to one just because it’s not popular in Japan. They should have just made it Sony exclusive, because they risk hurting the brand and the company image as a whole.

If it was the other way around, which yes it has been before in past consoles and games, Sony fans would be screaming from the roof tops. Quite right too. This is on Capcom to put right.

The thing is for MOST of the multiplat games it takes someone like Digital Foundry to pause a game zoom into rocks at 300% and show you the differences.

I have the Pro and X both and love them both but if someone is into the Playstation lineup more I would not suggest running out and getting an X expecting to see night and day differences in what the games look like on the Pro.

Honestly before anyone would consider getting an X hoping for things to look better I would suggest getting a 4k HDR display.

When done right HDR is a game changer, for me anyhow.

Forza horizon 3 All day long ...and I love Titanfall 2

I ended up buying both :D. If developers support the X properly, then I'm more than happy to return the favour.

Unfortunately my brand new Forza Horizon 3 disc ended up being faulty (d'oh) and I won't get a chance to return it until next week. So sadly I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Digital Foundry has put a lot of work into their breakdowns. It's been this way since 2013.

There is no doubt that multiplats look/play better on the X. Even if not optimized there is hardware and brute force and all that jazz. I mean look at the current MHW debacle. The Xbox One version got close to no support and yet the X version is on par with the Pro version.

"Hoping" for things to look better on the X is farther away from reality than any other part of this post. Suggesting to get a 4k tv instead when you know the console downsamples everything it plays unlike the Pro.

I too have a Pro/X, and haven't used my Pro for multiplats since November 6th, 2017.

*edit* Just saw were Pro is getting downsample support. Good on Sony. This is what happens when you have competition.

Not really how I meant to come across.

Was trying to say for someone who is only into Playstation and does not give a rip about Xbox exclusives I wouldnt recommend dropping $500 and firing up a multiplat game and "hoping" to be just blown away by the most amazing graphical upgrade ever over the Pro, it wont happen.

And anyone who says every multiplat is an amazing upgrade over the Pro is just being fanboyish.

And I know how Digital Foundry works have been following them for a very long time.

I was saying it takes a professional like that to pause a game and zoom in 300% on rocks or grass to show differences.

Where as most typical gamers while running the exact same game on the exact same screen playing a real game with any kind of action going on would be very hard pressed to tell you which console it was running on.

The noise thats what the typical gamer would notice what console it was running on, It's one of the main reason's i buy games on the X over Pro and everything else is a bonus. Well worth paying extra for for me to game in a room without the racket the Ps4 Pro makes under stress, far more distracting than the odd frame rate drop.

Indeed. Silence (and Xbox One X image quality) is golden.

It's currently 30++ degrees celcius (86 Fahrenheit, for our US friends) in my man cave/gaming room in Australia, I'm sweating and I'm playing Titanfall 2 in 4k on my Xbone X and it's barely making a slightest whisper of fan noise after running for over an hour. It's the first time that I've even heard my Xbox One X make a noise and I'm still actively having to listen for it.

Sony needs to step-up. Period. Make a proper premium PS4 or go home. The bluray drive on my second gen PS4 makes more noise than my Xbox One X does under load. Sony can charge more for the console; I don't care. Just give me a PS4 Pro with proper cooling and premium components. I'll happily pay for it. The forced software downsampling was a positive step, now we just need Sony to stop being so hilarious cheap with their ugly & noisy hardware. I want a PS4 Pro that looks as good as the launch PS4 with premium quality internal components that makes no noise what so ever. When Microsoft is outdoing Sony in hardware engineering, you know that there's a problem.

I dont know if Microsoft outdoing Sony on the hardware font is a problem, its great. MS hardware division also makes surface devices and they are also very well made. Microsoft realised it needs to be a top tier hardware company and now it is, good for them, good for consumers. Bad for Sony maybe but they will have to step it up so it will be good for consumers in the end.

Is red dead enhanced?

Not yet, sadly mate. However, out of all of the Xbox 360 titles from last gen, I feel that it still stands tall as one of the few titles that hold up remarkably well graphically. On an X you'll get a locked 30fps, no screen tearing and forced 16x anisotropic filtering (but no resolution increase). It's currently the best way to experience the game.

Hopefully MS realise the importance of the title and put the right level of engineering together to get it enhanced in the lead up to RDR 2's launch.

Great thanks. I'm enjoying fallout 3 on the X and the enhancements look fantastic in 4k.

I have a question.

Why the developers are not using the 4GB extra memory of Xbox One X? It was supposed to be used to higher resolution textures. And not even the first party games are using it, I just remember Shadow of War that took advantage of it.

They will this year. Xbox One X patches so far have just been after thoughts that have been done post-release. Now that the X exists in the development pipeline, it should receive the highest res PC texture packs by default for future game releases. It's going to be a clear differentiator that will seperate the X from the Pro beyond the current resolution and anisotropic filtering gap.

Quick question. If I upgrade from an OG XB1 to an XB1X and use an external drive to transfer my games over, will they automatically download XB1 enhancements for games that apply even if I just have a 1080P tv?

Okay, so I'm gonna cave and get the X tomorrow. Haven't really played my Switch since I beat Zelda and Mario Odyssey, and I do not have another console. Was going to build my own PC for the first time in 5 or so years, but figured out that I'd have to throw $700~ into a build to get the equivalent power of the X. The only thing is, I don't have a 4k TV to take full advantage of the hardware. I have a 24" 1080p monitor/tv at 60hz. Should I see a noticeable difference in performance with an Xbox One X over an OG One? Is it worth the additional cost?

Sorry if it's been asked already.

When I use my X in my bedroom (1080p 60inch Samsung panel) the difference between the OG Xbox and the X is immediately obvious and it's *very hard* to go back to the OG Xbone. I sit about 1.5 meters from my TV for reference. Titanfall 2, Forza 7 and even enhanced Xbox 360 titles like Fallout 3 look absolutely fantastic on a 1080p panel when downsampled from 4k. The X plays all games at their highest resolution and downsamples them to your TVs (or monitor) res, so you're always getting pristine image quality (no jaggies, no pixel crawl, no blurriness from overzealous application of cheap-post-processing AA techniques and you get 16x AF for sharp textures on oblique angles ie. no PS4 texture soup).

That said, I haven't tried my X on a smaller monitor. On a 24 inch display, the difference might not be as apparent. It will likely depend on how close that you sit to your display and how much that you personally care about image quality / sharpness. An Xbox One S might be sufficient in your circumstance (although I personally really don't like the overly blurry look of 900p games upscaled to 1080p displays).

I did plan to keep both my OG Xbox One and X hooked up in two different rooms but it's too hard for me to go back to the original Xbone now, so I just lug my X between the two.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter #XboxOne/#XboxOneX just got a patch! - locked FPS fixed (proper 30 fps instead of 32) - user-selected video setting (1080p/1440p/2160p) is now properly saved - the narrator's VO is now at the central speaker - fixed an occasional sound popping

After all these RDR threads, how does this game look on an X1X? Thought about picking this up to play again (Have it for PS3 but don't feel like plugging in the PS3 and playing an old system). I have an LG B7A as well. Curious if the X1X will improve the quality of the graphics for this at all, or no?

I dont pretend to know anything about game development but if some games are offering either 1080p/60fps and a 4k/30fps. Why not just offer a dynamic 4k at 60fps and have the system hover at 1080p but in the future the next system can brute force it to 4k/60fps.

Would be nice to kind of future proof games

It looks great and runs very well.

Just played a bit of Deus Ex: MD, and it seems to look at good as I had it on PC with much faster loading. I'm assuming the X does something to enhance the average game, event if there isn't a patch. I thought this game ran in 720P on the original Xbox One but seems it looks quite crisp, certainly not any different than running at near max settings on PC. Or maybe we're at the point of such diminishing returns that you just don't notice. I am looking forward to when they really push the X hardware so we see what it can do. Sort of what Naughty Dog does for the uncharted series. I'm guessing Halo 6 could be that next game (halo 5 is a decent looker, but that 30 FPS update on enemies is jarring).

I believe that it only runs at 900p but the X will force 16x anisotropic filtering so textures at oblique angles should look much nicer. It can make a big difference; the Xbox One version of the BioShock Collection is now the definitive console version because of it.

Still 720p, but you get better texture filtering, rock-solid performance, and lower load times.

Hopefully it's on their internal shortlist for X enhancements, but even without that it's easily the best way to play it..

Crazy thing is GTA5 has gotta be the best selling game this gen... and last gen.
I have a theory that they want to pull the same trick with RDR2 thus are very happy to delay its release to the tail end of this gen the re release on next gen hardware too...

I reckon' that you're right on the money mate! I'd be willing to put a wager on the fact that it'll be a PS5 & Xbox Two post-launch-period game that follows the current gen release.

Speaking of Rockstar: It's a genuine shame that they haven't done a 4k update for GTA V on the X. Even just a simple resolution boost would work wonders and take minimal engineering work to make it happen. It's saddens me that the management team at Take Two have no interest in the quality of their product or even remotely care for their customers beyond farming casuals and whales for microtransactions. I want to play GTA V on my X in 4k damnit :D; I'm prepared to triple dip. I guess that their shareholders don't want my money.
