Yeah I rarely post there as I'm not a part of their clique and thus I'm easily moderated if I go against the norm, but it's fun to pop in and see what madness is happening.

And a mod then confirmed that yes indeed, saying "Vavra is a good game director" is bannable. Era is a grotesque caricature of old gaf, already.

On topic, incredible sales performance. I'll be picking it up eventually, when I actually think I'll have time to dig into it.

Surprised the three additional people that reacted negatively to the mod reply to the post that got me banned didn't get banned themselves. That disclaimer they're plopping on every thread is absurd. Luckily, some forums have well adjusted human being present, unlike that one.

Especially since I'm sure the sequels will have a massively larger budget to work with. If they can achieve the same increase in quality between each game as CD Projekt Red did, then that'll be amazing.

Anyway, was watching a stream and they complained about a sequence where you're told everyone has to carry a torch. But you're there only one with a torch.. And if you put it away you immediately get beaten to death.. Wat... I'm a nitpicker with stuff like this, and it seems odd with the overall attention to detail in the game. This accurate?

Never saw anyone get beat to death for not having a torch out, but did see some townfolk walking at night without torches and the PC getting scolded for not having one out. It happened right as I joined the stream so I dont know what was going on before that at all though.

Kudos to Kingdom Come developers for selling the game past 1 million despite the negative press over its politics. Gamers simply want good games. Hopefully they fix the bugs as that's the only thing that is holding me back from buying this game.

The guards address me as "sir" and nervously apologize for bothering me when I accidentally break the law. The game world's heavily reactive. Maybe the streamer hadn't taken a bath in a month and got mistaken for a beggar. ;b

Yea I get called 'Knight' when previously they exclaimed "what happened to you and your lovely clothes!?". All I did was buy a rather fetching red piece of armour. A sad reflection of real life where we are all judged on our appearances.

I was bragging about the game being too easy. Well, i raided a cuman camp and survived by the skin of my teeth.
But to be fair i wasn't wearing my best armor.

I had so many concerns about the Fighting-System (on my end, because I'm just not good at it) that I consulted a Guide for a Mission. Wasted about 3 hours preparing just to breeze through it like it was nothing... I don't know what to think anymore

Ban reversed. Got a PM from a mod stating that after discussing amongst staff, they decided to lighten up on the Vavra policy (though that disclaimer is still emblazoned across the OP of the game's threads as of now). They're still nuts, but at least smart enough to realize they miscalculated.. this time.

EDIT: Huh. My ban looks like the only one reversed from that topic? The other bans appear to still be standing. Weird.

I bet the publishers that passed on this game are kicking themselves. But i think its for the best, imagine if EA had a hand in this, im sure it would not have been the devs vision.

And proves again that single player rpgs are still and will be in demand.

Honestly WTF give them the time of day Prag? It seems to me that their entire approach with that forum is to spell out whatever their party line is (Everything is racist, everything is sexist and it's our job to tell you that') and then warn or ban anyone to dares to say anything that doesn't support the groupthink. They're not moderating, they're dictating. Probably the only reason they reviewed the ban is down to the fact that they're being laughed at by the rest of the internet.

I'd like to talk about the game here for a sec.
How would you guys consider the combat system yet? Are you playing on PC with a Controller? Are you, like me, switching to MKB once you have to pick a lock?
Are you going in blind or using a guide and/or the "Save Anywhere"-Mod into a quests?

I tried with the controller but the lockpicking thing seems like BS, so I'm restarting and going M&K (I wasn't that far in tbh and I want to try a different approach).

Are you restarting because of other reasons too or just because of the Controller/MKB thing?
I'm playing all my PC games with a controller on a TV from a 40inch TV about 1.5 meters way

This game looks so gorgeous but I just can't get over how bad it does the lockpicking and stealth in general, why can't I instant kill some dudes and why can I so on others? Its just illogical. Has nothing to do with "skill", when in Reality you could see excactly where your desired target has a weak spot in their armor to stab them at, and they claim to be so realistic... bothers me (probably more than it should)

Bit of both. I generally restart games once I've played them for a bit because I like to get a handle on the systems, to the extent that I can then concentrate more on what is going on, and worry less about the controls. Plus I like to noodle and try out different things. I will give M&K a looksee tomorrow, but it may well be that I return to the controller after that.

i've read a handful of instances of people getting terrible motion sickness on the other board and on reddit. i dunno, to me just seems like any other first person game but then again i can play anything in VR without motion sickness. i'm not the best judge

but i would think playing console on tv, some 5 ft-ish away from the televison, it wouldn't be an issue

Been quite fun so far except I been spending the past three hours trying to kill a single bandit. Its like cumins the horde from hungary meh dies in a few hits. Bandits now they are gods incarnate.

Edit : Finally killed the two bandits . I decide to say fuck swords and fought them with horse archery and to surprise after seeing this equine feat a very nice, heavily armored cumin decided to help me out in the fight and we killed the bandits together. maybe im on the wrong side of this War, I mean sure the cumins killed my Parents and lover but they also just now became the most helpful people in the entire game so far.

They had to reverse it because the ban made them (resetera mods & its community) look ridiculous and immature outside of their forum.

Anybody have any idea why my shadows look like shit? I have the game on max settings. Changing shadow quality never fixes this.
Blocky, holes where eyes should be, jagged, floating arms and head, etc. The shadows on buildings are jagged and glitchy too.

They're certainly making an example out of me for being the one to publicly question their policy on praising Vavra though (and having the audacity to say that the whole "he wore a t-shirt so he's a white supremacist" nonsense was a bit flimsy to begin with). One month ban.

Oh well. That just means one less person that'll actually discuss the fucking game over there.

This seems to be an utter non-problem for about 95% of the people living on this planet. I read through most of the comments under the Eurogamer (UK) "Review of the GAME" and there is quite the consense that all of this is utter misinterpretation and SJW (gosh I hate that word) behaviour nobody really needs.

All of these outlets are jumping the bandwaggon on a non-issue outcry while most people seem to believe it doesn't matter anyways.

Some comments of PoCs even tell exactly that (under the Eurogamer "Review") and Czech people saying they live somewhere near the area and haven't seen a PoC in person in their entire life. This is a witchhunt nobody needs and nobody asked for.

Don't mean to derail the thread but this whole mess just annoys me because its forced upon a team of Devs that don't deserve it in the least.

And what could they have realistically done while staying even remotely close to historical accuracy? Thrown in like one black merchant or something? Including a token black character probably would have gotten them shit on just as hard.
