I keep seeing bug patches but never anything that sorts out performance, ups the visual detail, or more importantly gets rid of the damn movement/aiming lag...

The fact that the game still controls like a rubber band is what’s stopping me playing it on console, it’s just awful. Such a poor netcode...

Have you played around with the new settings for controls? Deadzone and aim acceleration? I think that the game has improved dramatically since launch, especially in the performance and control department. I don't think we will see many graphics upgrades in the near future considering the majority of high level PC players play with all of the graphics settings at med-low...

Also, is your username a reference to the Stormlight Archive?

Xbox players,

We’re now serving up chicken dinners to over 4 million players on Xbox. Thank you for your continued support!
We truly value all of the feedback from across the community. We have a few minor updates to gameplay this week, alongside bug-fixes and performance tweaks, as noted below.

Gameplay

We’ve listened to your feedback and further modified the damage players can inflict on vehicles, increasing areas of vulnerability. This includes:

  • Increased damage to the vehicle body, and significant damage to the wheels when targeted with gunfire
  • Increased vehicle damage when successfully targeted with a grenade
  • Both driver and passenger will suffer increased injuries from crashing into objects or other vehicles (Dacia, UAZ, and Buggy)
  • Slight reduction to player damage when being struck by a vehicle

Optimization

  • Continued optimization to controller input lag
  • Visual quality of the reticle is improved for Xbox One (Red Dot, Holographic, and 2x Sight)

Bug fixes

  • Resolved issue where inventory may highlight the wrong column when looting
  • The sensitivity setting for 4x Scope is now also applied to the permanent scope on the VSS
  • Auto-run (double-clicking the left stick) is disabled when aiming down sights
  • Players can now use the D-Pad while in the map view without switching melee, pistol, or throwing weapons
  • Removing the marker from the map when pressing (Y) will no longer switch primary/secondary weapons
  • Fixed issue where the crosshair is not correctly displayed after players reconnect to a game session

Sadly the controls lagging are not directly related to dead zone. For example, you try to walk through a door and end up looking at a wall.

This is because They need to think a little more about the do’s and don’ts when using client side prediction. Instead we have netcode from 1997, or at least, what feels like it.

They are trying to keep the player in sync with the players position on the server, so the action is being sent, received, and then updated on your home console. That’s whats creating the delay and sluggishness in your movement, and why you end up finding it so hard to get through tight spaces. We haven’t really done it like this in a very long time... so not sure why they are.

The aiming? I have no idea... I want to say it’s a combination of terrible dead zones and acceleration. But it feels like there’s something else at play. It wouldn’t surprise me that they were syncing this as well.

Fact is a first person game shouldn’t be having this many issues with basic movement online. Play any other recent FPS and compare it’s online movement, even large based games like fortnight, which is on the same engine no less.

As for the name... Christ, I’ve used it online since the mid 90’s, as well as Gavavva. So no idea :) Had it when I was in collage... I’m 34 in a few months haha!

Should we be worried that the F2P option(haven't played it, but Fortnite) is arguably a more polished experience than the $30 one?

The F2P one(Fortnite) has been in development for 5+ years on PC and console. PubG's "console" development only began in May of last year. Epic owns the engine and has the resources to polish and iterate their game faster too.

Also, the F2P option's gunplay is garbage compared to PubG's IMO so I am not "worried"...

Wait, why would I be worried anyways? Competition is good for the market...PubG is driving Fortnite to rework the weapon system and shooting mechanics completely and Fortnite is driving PubG to optimize and improve performance.

Just randomly going to chime in and ask...

Generic question I know, but how fun are PUBG and Fortnite? Not a huge multiplayer guy and haven't enjoyed much multiplayer in the last few years except Destiny. I used to be a huge COD fan but that faded out to as the games got more and more ridiculous the last few years.

Don't know much about Fortnite but the concept of PUBG looked cool. My issue with multi player games like the COD's though is after the initial excitement they become super receptive and boring and I end up getting burned out.

PUBG has to be a driving force with MS's business agendas for Xbox I'm sure. Fortnite on XB1, especially it being F2P hinders it a bit even if it's different in it's own way.

Not sure what impact it could have on gaming on a larger scale on multiple platforms.

Xbox players,

We are releasing a minor update this week, focused on fixing bugs or gameplay issues that were identified following the last patch release. Thanks to all of the community for the feedback and continued support of PUBG on Xbox One!

This patch will be live at 6PM KST / 1AM PST / 9AM UTC today.
Please restart your Xbox after the patch goes live to get the update.

Gameplay

  • We received a lot of great feedback following the changes made to vehicle/player damage. We continue to tune and balance this element of gameplay, and are therefore reverting back to increased damage if a player is struck by a vehicle.

Bug fixes

  • Resolved an issue preventing players from vaulting over specific ledges and/or windows
  • The camera will now remain in the correct location following player death
  • Vehicles will no longer relocate to another position on the map after the player disembark

Just read this on their forum. I think we need a larger update soon. The game has been getting worse on X1X for me. More rubber banding, terrible hit registration and frame loss in close to mid range fights etc...

6 days of gametime and I would say the game vastly improved up to patch #6...then #7 and 8 fixed some bugs, but regressed the game in the above areas. At least on the X1X. Hope their roadmap includes major improvements to netcode, frame rate/tic, hit reg and the release of the Desert map, which is supposedly much better optimized from the start.

Beyond this stuff, the game is still great fun, especially with a squad.

Same feeling man, same feeling...X1X here as well. :/
They need to work really *hard* on framerate and rubber banding. I mean, really hard.
Still having a ton of fun with friends but I would love a more stable experience.

Xbox players,

First and foremost THANK YOU for your patience and perseverance over these last few weeks. We recognize and fully understand the challenges while playing through some of the more impactful issues, and appreciate your persistence and continued support throughout. We have been hard at work on this patch, and we wanted to take the time necessary to ensure stability before rolling it out into Xbox Game Preview. This update brings a number of fixes that you’ve been asking for, alongside continued optimization, stability and UI improvements. We have also included initial support for Game DVR, where you can enable automatic recording of gameplay highlights. Find out more information about Game DVR and using Upload Studio at: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/apps/upload-studio-info.

This patch will be live at 6PM KST / 1AM PST / 10AM CET today.

  • Adjusted the sound effects of both water and red-zone bombing
  • Party matchmaking is now influenced by the player’s MMR
  • Adjusted long-range blood VFX back to the original colors

UI/UX

  • Improved visibility of squad member colors (yellow, orange, blue and green)
  • Players can use the right thumbstick to rotate their character model during customization

  • Applied new Russian, Japanese and Chinese (simplified/traditional) fonts
  • Japanese only: Adjusted the Katakana font
  • Japanese only: Fixed incorrect order of wording during object interactions
  • Portuguese only: Fixed the display of height meter when parachuting

Known Issues

  • B button incorrectly displayed to cut parachute cable; this should be X
  • When viewing the map, the X, Y, and B buttons are fully functional – please be aware that this can cause you to exit the plane or vehicle whilst in motion. Please only use the map button to return to gameplay until this is resolved.

92 hours in and not getting any better. Most of the time I am way too confident for my own good which of course results in constant dying. Problem is the whole lobby => game sequence takes at least a minute which is not exactly great if you're pumped. I just need to calm down.

Game is so much smoother now on my slim. Friends and I played for six hours yesterday and it only crashed once(but reloded quicker than ever! lol). LOVE this game. Pals too.

So I've had a couple of weeks off from PUBG but just had a quick game and as has been said, everything feels miles better, I'm very impressed... They're almost there imo!

Good work!

+1

Stopped after Patch 3 or 4 and now tried again with the current one on my Xbox One X.

It might not be a locked 30 fps but it´s there most of the time.

Sometimes I think about playing this again... I'll keep my eye on it still but I'm starting to think I loathe this new gimmick shooter genre. So boring.

Yea it is . To be honest don't have much faith in this Korean sweatshop shooter, but it was free so whatever, don't matter if it plays like complete shit too much.

I knew it would be that music. Didn't they cut that from the Xbox version?
They cut it from all the versions after Dreamcast I think. Licencing issues and all...

It's amazing how PUBG's disgusting driving mechanics make half hearted arcade games from 1999 look good...

Got my first frying pan kill last night. Took a revolver round to the neck but the frying pan to the head is more deadly. So satisfying even at the start.

I like the driving mechanics because they are so shonky; when you don't know what your jeep will do or what will make it explode, it adds a decent amount of tension.
