True that. I think I will be buying it on PC though
I feel like I'm gonna go with the Xbone X version. I imagine it will perform just as well as the PC version. I definitely couldn't see myself waiting a long time for a PS4 version, if that were even happening.

I haven't posted at GAF since everything imploded. Something regarding this game I just feel the need to post about, now that discussion about it is open again.

I've only been banned at GAF twice, and the second time was in discussion about this game. I pointed out that the tweets saying the game was about how "feminism won" were 3 years old, and it was quite possible that the game had changed direction since then. In fact Microsoft would have to have been idiotic to vet this game, find out that was the subject matter, and still display it so prominently. I never claimed that the creator or his views were defensible or that the game didn't deserve boycott if people wanted to boycott it, just that we didn't have the full story. The game's Steam page painted a much different picture of the plot. I was banned for this post, saying I wasn't playing devil's advocate, just trying to avoid misinformation.

But then...10 minutes and 20 posts later...Tim Soret updated his twitter and said the exact thing I had been saying.

It was nice to feel vindicated, even if I wasn't able to post for a while.

Now that things are a little different at GAF and I can actually make this post without being crucified, I wanted to say I still stand by the posts I made. I wasn't being "transparent" about Soret, I'm not on his side or share the beliefs expressed in his old tweets. If I was some sort of secret Nazi I'd probably feel emboldened to spout that rhetoric now, but I'm not. If you want to boycott this game then feel free to do so. But seriously, to this day we don't know if the game is still about anything he tweeted 3-4 years ago. It could still come out and be full of regressive content, but current descriptions of the game sound like a lot about the game changed direction over the years, as many indie games do.

Developer and his community seem to be quite the fans of NeoGAF.

Did you see the thread on TLN posted last year?

People flat out lied about him, did their damnedest to derail his game and his life. The things people said about him were utterly troubling. I'm sure if he is browsing recently he has different thoughts on a now very different bell curve.

Except feminism doesn't equate to "a world ruled by women". There are many types of feminism that exist such as liberal, radical, cultural, socialist, etc. From what I have seen, this is more of a world where third/fourth wave feminism that promotes the overly authoritarian left agenda becomes the leading political ideology of the world/setting. Hell, if you look at OldGaf/Tumblr/Waypoint/Polygon - you would see a large amount of men promoting this style of feminism/political thought. It wasn't so much that they wanted equality, they wanted control and the ability to silence those that they disagreed with.

I would ask how a world wouldn't be dystopian when you are ruled by a mindset that punishes/silences those who do not agree with a very specific mindset/opinion. A mindset that promotes physical harm and ruining lives for differing opinions. Ironic considering the people who seem to fight against this game's premise is the same that promote those ideals.

Do people really want to ruin lives if your opinion is different? Is that the bottom line of their thought process? Or is it something greater? Because take this example........

Jimmy "The Greek" Synder was fired from CBS back in 1988. This is what was reported back in 1988.

Jimmy The Greek said:
Some of the statements Snyder made in the interview with Hotaling included: "They've {blacks} got everything; if they take over coaching like everybody wants them to, there's not going to be anything left for white people."
Snyder described blacks as being superior athletes because generally, he said, they work harder than white athletes.
Then he added, "the black is a better athlete to begin with, because he's been bred that way. Because of his high thighs that go up into his back. And they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs.
"This all goes back to the Civil War, when, during the slave trading, the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he would have a big black kid. That's where it all started."

Now going back what you are saying, he should have been able to keep his job at CBS, even though what he said was CRAZY and his employer hated it. So point is, you can't just say whatever you want (just because it's your thoughts) AND expect that you aren't going to have people coming for you.

I agree with that "women running the world would turn it into a dystopian society" sounds uninteresting (and probably misogynistic). But instead, think of a warped totalitarian regime based on radical feminism for example. Exploring a society where heterosexual sex is outlawed because it is seen as rape (there are people who actually think this) and the consequences of that. Or one where genetic engineering is enforced to root out any behavioural differences between the sexes that is caused by biological factors (since gender abolition is one of the goals of radical feminism). A Gattaca-like future but instead of relegating people with negative hereditary traits to second-class citizens, genotype profiling is used to discriminate against people who carries genes that lead to gendered behaviour.

Historically, sci-fi has often taken ideas to their extremes and made something interesting out of it and I don't see why this would be any different.

I'd only be interested in this if it clearly showed that most women were against this radical feminism too. It'd had to be very clear that what these radical feminists were doing was crazy and insane. Like you examples would be PERFECT! Not something like GamerGate talk.[/quote]
