" Microsoft is doing something different for E3 this year."

Might be Mixer related ? Didn't they rename their E3 registration to Mixer instead of Xbox, or something ?

Something different i expect will be instead of the usual conference, theyll do a nintendo Direct-inspired segment lasting between 1.5-2 hours via mixer or inside xbox

I will impressed if they announce some Single Player games and Japanese exclusive games but with how things are now with Xbox I don't think it gonna happen but I like to be proven wrong.

Microsoft appeared to have a smaller footprint this year, at least compared to the last couple. Could the "something different" be apart of that, I wonder?

Yeah, it'll be this. Reduced floor space seems to point this way too. If they recently announced Inside Xbox, why would they not want to push this and make sure it's a viable platform with great content on there? E3 is the perfect place to do that, and they're entirely in control of their release schedules.

So far away. I wonder if all of the Japanese news we've been hearing will come out this year for the xbox. I really hope Microsoft shows some great and unique games this E3.

That's still so far away. Le sigh...

I don't even have an Xbox this gen (yet), but I always get a kick out of the Big 3's conferences.
-It'll be nice to see Halo 6 in action. It's about time for a new entry, right? I'm two games behind on the series, but I always have a soft spot for Master Chief.
-Anthem should be on MS's stage too, no? I know EA has its own conference, but there was a lot of interest in that one last year, and I'm sure Microsoft will want to show it running at 4k on an XB1X. I'm curious, but not sold. I felt really burned by Destiny 1, and pundits keep referring to this as EA's answer to Destiny.
-I'll be looking for footage of Crackdown 3 as well. I adored the first game, but the second being a boring retread (plus zombies) really hurt my hype for the series. The third could be good, but I really wasn't feeling the massive destruction angle it was initially advertised with. For me, so much of the fun of Crackdown was combing skyscrapers for agility orbs and hunting for a route to the top. Tearing the city down (and I hope it's a new one this time) just feels wrong.
What else should I be looking forward to? Any juicy rumors?

Yes... like the whole building across the street too 😉

I think people are getting bit confused. Microsoft are doing something different and bigger this year. MS have a smaller show space at E3 because they also have an entire building beside. It's going to be great. Sony will bring the games (and perhaps a PS5 hint...hopefully). And Microsoft will bring... something big. Hype. Hopefully it's great. I love E3. It's my Christmas.

The Xbox Twitter feed just posted (three hours ago):

"Looking forward to our biggest E3 presence ever, starting Jun 10 at Microsoft Theater. More details on how you can participate soon!"

And this was retweeted by Aaron Greenberg:

Did you hear the rumors of a new 3rd person Perfect Dark, a new mech game, a large player count Halo, a new Fable, Forza Japan, etc? A guy spilled the beans who, I believe, accurately called out MS's previous E3 conference.

Nope, nope, nope, yep, and nope. Of those, the first two sound very interesting indeed, the third intriguing as a concept, the fourth, "eh" but not "meh," and the fifth not my bag, but I like the setting. Then again, are we talking an open world Forza Japan? Because that I might be into.

If Microsoft does deliver all this, it should be a very nice conference indeed. Might even push up my purchase date for an X, or a PC (all of these should work for play anywhere, right?). Do you by any chance have a link to this rumor, kind sir or madam?

I think it originated at ERA here: https://www.resetera.com/threads/ru...h4-set-in-japan-halo-mech-cd3-and-more.14133/

I would love to revisit Albion. Project name could be Wisdom. An UK Studio should do it.
I would love to play around with Ms. Dark again. The Coalition should definitely help if it’s a 3rd person game. I mean ... Not them alone obviously.
I would also love to play the Crackdown 3 campaign in 4-player coop.
I would love playing Forza with the rising sun on the Horizon.
I would love to play AoE4 soon ... But it‘s probably super early.
I would love to have a really high player-count (connections per session) for Xbox biggest franchise.
Oh and I think I‘m sure Phil likes Mechs.
I‘m sure they have things I have no fucking clue about what they mean.
I doubt I get anything for Conker, Banjo or Crimson Skies in the foreseeable future.
Make out of that what you want. I don’t know what is just a prototype etc. I would definitely love to see those things happening though.Click to expand...

One last correction because I will close my setup soon: at least two different and unknown game IDs with Halo found. I have an idea about what they might be, but this is too vague. So I speculate: two different Halo games.Click to expand...

I don't think Halo with go Battle Royal to be honest. Just with connected sessions or file names I have no chance to find that out - but it's really just a personal speculation that they would rather build open Warzone and simply make it bigger and more epic.
Btw I never said Mech Assault. I found files that clearly represent a mech game. Could be Mech Assault. Could be Mech Commander. Could be BattleTech for Xbox. Something like that. I don't know guys, sry. It's not like I can find folders with simply "Mech Assault" - if it would be only that easy ... :D Everything is just numbers and some file names were you can detect a Warthog as an example

We all know what The Coalition is doing. It's obvious - they are here for the Gears franchise. I think they have a small team helping with the Dark project as a disclaimer file name suggests though."

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/artic...rowing-our-gaming-business-beyond-the-console

""We are not leaving the console business behind by any means. We are continuing to invest there. The premium living room experience today is on Xbox One X, and we hope to continue that for years to come. But when you think about how we are going to broaden our business, we need to think beyond console to be successful."

Interesting read. Honestly, they've got more to gain releasing titles onto as many platforms at this point than focusing on the X. Get GamePass on as many platforms as possible.

Sorry to nitpick, but that quote isn't from Phil Spencer but "Kevin Gammill, GM of gaming cloud at Microsoft". ;)

I've been predicting this route for years and believe it makes sense for them. Still find the spin a little comical though. "For us to really grow our business, we can't just play only on our devices, or our operating systems. We really want to touch everyone. If you think about the customer, and in this case the customer being the developer, and what the right thing for them is... it is really about looking at it from a device - or operating system - agnostic lens, and providing them a set of services that they will benefit from, regardless of the platform or device that they are running on."

A more truthful statement would be along the lines of: We strive to dominate every field we get involved in. We broke into console with a cutting edge system that got destroyed by PS2. Then we launched an awesome system that got a bad reputation after a great launch because we used cheap solder that couldn't handle the heat. Then we completely botched this entire generation by charging more for a less powerful system, all in hopes of forcing cameras into everyone's homes that would help us sell ads better. Even though the console business is thriving and making money hands over fist like never before thanks to digital, we simply cannot trust ourselves not to screw up the next generation out of the gate, so we are changing our business model.

I really want a Mech Assault 3 at some point or Chromehounds 2.

MS really needs to announce some exclusives as they dont got alot this year.

Haha, well, I made my post before they confirmed anything, so nice to see I was right.

Hopefully, bigger and better things await Microsoft - they've got some good momentum, and with a few solid first party titles, could re-establish the Xbox brand for the second half of this gen. Unthinkable, really, given the Xbone fiasco. They'll need to bring it big this year with no new hardware to prop them up.

I still really hope halo 6 isnt a 2019 title. That would be three years without a proper halo title (halo has generally been a 3-year cycle series) on top of that, it could set its release a little too close to gears 4...if that goes by a three cycle.

if they released a halo 6 beta this fall and released early 2019 i might be okay with it. Otherwise, I'd rather it come out this year. 343 is too occupied with their halo world championships right now. I wonder if that alone might keep them from releasing halo 6 this year. Don't want the focus taken off halo 5 now that they've back with MLG.

It'd be an absolute bombshell if it was coming out this year (and I hope that it is). There hasn't been a single hint of its release so far though. But I personally think that the Master Chief Collection "MP fix and re-release" will be our major Halo release for this year. As a side note, I still think that Halo 6 will be at E3 2018. And a Halo 6 MP beta code within every copy of Crackdown 3 is almost a certainty at this point.

Crackdown 3!

But realisticly, Sega Genesis Collection is one way to increase your portfolio.
Why though? Each gen seems to get some kind of sega collection, how is this one any different from the 360 one? Hell, it has less sonic games than the mega gem collection on og xbox/ps2
