Any major difference between Xbox and PS4 versions? Tempted to buy the Xbox version (digital) so that it downloads and updates so I can play it tonight.

Good, I haven't even touched it since buying it. The save restriction was absolutely making me dreading to play it.

I've been playing without any mods and frankly it's fine. The game autosaves at certain points and when you sleep, and with 1.3 you can exit and save as well if you want. Certainly, I've had a couple of bad situations where through my own stupidity I got into fights I was ill-equipped for and lost some progress, but I think in large part, that's part of the learning experience. In any other game, the tendency would be to get some basic training in and then go off from Rattay, but in truth, it makes much more sense to put the time into honing your skills in the safety of the training arena with Sir Bernard until you're confident in your abilities as well as tackle some of the the local challenges to earn some coin and better equipment before progressing the main narrative.

Since 1.3 I didn't have any real problems or major bugs. Occasionally weird shit happens when e.g. multiple knights on horses want to get across a narrow bridge at the same time, but that's just minor things. It's getting to the point where it will be on my shortlist for GotY 2018.

I started to practice my longsword with Bernard and starting to get the hang of it. Unfortunately the most effective weapons against heavy armor are maces of various sorts, and they are a bit boring to use compared to the longsword.

I agree, I think taking Care to play it properly is a good way to play it. It's just that I fall asleep In my chair and wake up with that "oh fuck I need to turn everything off and go to bed" and having that happen midquest, as sometimes happens yakuza, is a royal pain. But yeah it's fine started playing on and the games good, don't play it drunk though because there's a lot of reading and paging to be done.

I completed the game with bastard swords without any problems. Maces are fine and all, but I wasn't into using a shield and maces have weak defensive stats for blocking and aren't great against multiple opponents due to the range. Don't feel like you have to use maces. Just stick to what you like (swords have by far the most combos available, too).

I still get quite a bit of pop in on PC, especially with the wandering NPCs. From a distance they will look a certain way, but when they get closer their armour or outfit will appear as if by magic. Not a big deal, but it can be a little distracting. I'm not sure if this is something that will be addressed in future patches, or not.

One more thing that puzzles me though: where or how do I repair a saddle? Don't seem to be able to figure that out.

I'm just so used to hold a wooden door in the off hand from playing too much Demon's/Dark Souls. Fighting agains NPC holding a wooden door can be extremely annoying. I'm also a bit confused why I can't seem to find halberds or other pole weapons at the merchants, even though guards carry them around in the game. But I think the longsword got the most love from the developers.

I don't encounter that, but last night one of the female NPC turned into the invisible woman when she took off her clothes to lay down to sleep, just her head, hands and feet floating around. I... ehrm... was just... incidentally in the room... behind the cupboard... I'm out of here...

So, how is this "Performance Improved". How many FPS gained?

With the 1.3.1 patch they solved the constant CPU bottlenecking on PC completely. before just 2 threads were spammed and constantly at 100% and the others nearly idling, now work is distributed evenly over all available threads (can't say if that's true on more than 12 threads though) and utilization between 40-60 % on all cores all the time. can play mostly 1080/60 at ultra now. in demanding situations where the game dropped below 30 fps before patch i now get around 50fps. can't remember when i last seen such an improvement with one patch.

Anyone here done the Hare Hunt/ Wolf in Sheeps Clothing sidequest yet?

I think it might be bugged but I’m not sure 🤔

So I finished up, infiltrating the poachers and then siding with the soldiers once we all met up in the clearing. I chased down Hare and killed him. Took his ring and returned it to Master Huntsman Nicholas. Quest over....

Thing is, now all of my rep with the Millers is zero. They’re pissed and I can’t sell shit to them anymore. Reloaded an old save and now I’m not touching those quests until I know what’s up.

Anyone else have this issue? Is it a bug? Is it supposed to happen? Can it be avoided in the quest?

humm, thats great.
I have an 1080ti and i7 4790k. And to play in 4k I had to use medium to low graphics and was still getting 30fps at some areas.

It's probably a game-breaking bug. Kingdom Come has more game-breaking bugs than...shit, Arcanum maybe. I still recommend it and had a great time overall, but finishing the game required me to push a dude on a horse out of the way of incidental obstacles for damn near a half hour, excruciatingly, so he could get to his destination and trigger the next event. We're not talking overblown "omg Obsidian games so buggy" here, haha. I had to reload saves a ton of times.

Ok that’s what I figured. It was just too bizarre to seem like it was on purpose. Thank god I had a save to revert to that wasn’t far back.

Yeah, 1.3 definitely sorted a lot of things for me. I encountered the dreaded stair bug originally (I struggled to get up the stairs at Pirkstein a lot) and that was resolved. Frame rate seemed a lot better as well. Pop in is still an issue, but I've reconciled myself to that as being ongoing given the high bar the game is setting graphically. Just going off the beaten track and wandering through some woods is enough to remind me, that this game is ludicrously beautiful even on my set up. I just wish the price of GPUs would drop so I could up my Graphics game, though given crypto seems to be falling off a cliff at present that might well happen.

I managed to get up those stairs by a combination of jump-crouching and strafing. If you can do a rocket jump you can get up those stairs.

In other news: I still haven't figured how to repair the saddle, and neither has anyone else. It seems like there is no penalty for a broken saddle, maybe that comes in at some point with patches.

I bought this on PSN store, played it at my friends house for a few days (dog sitting), ensured the saves we're backed up the cloud, came home, installed it on my PS4 and now I can only make a new game - the save options not available.

Any ideas how to register my saves?

Apparently the microstuttering bug on consoles caused by 31fps vsync is now fixed, game is smooth.

I am still waiting to play though, my 2500K is just not enough to not bottleneck my 1070...7 years with me, but it is time to say goodbye and get Cofee Lake I guess. AC Origins and Mafia 3 were the first signs of old age.

So, the weekend I had some time to spend on this game, and so I did. I was chasing down more and more dangerous Bandits, Cumans and Brigands. At some point I approached this lone camp in a relatively empty and quiet area, and was immediately charged by 5 murderous dudes in heavy armor and armed to the teeth. They did a stellar job in surrounding me and I got my ass handed to me. Trying again, even worse result. Then I figured, why am I approaching these jokers on foot? I have a horse!

DVEhXVf.gif

Being the gallant knight I am, I shot some random arrows at them at long distance to draw them out, and as they were running my way trying to murderize me for being a twat, I rode past a couple of times hitting them with my longsword. One fell over quite quickly, the leader of the band retreated and crawled into his tent while two more angry armadillos were chasing after me, and one less angry armadillo ran of the opposite way. I guess he wanted to take the long way round to encircle me? Next thing I notice is that the quest goes one step further, the leader is dead, bled to death in his tiny tent. Turns out all those bleed effects I've been stacking are helpful after all. The other two I took care of with ride-by-stabbings, before I killed the last one trying to run away. But he couldn't run as fast as my horse.

giphy.gif

Then it was time to progress the main quest a bit, and I was tasked with scouting a certain entrenched position. Spoilers ahead:

I found the band of bandits, cumans and other evildoers in the abandoned village north-west of Talmberg. Tasked with scouting the place, it showed that my Henry is shit at scouting and I couldn't figure out too much other than the obvious, and set some arrows on fire. Returning to my boss he asked me how many there were, how to best get in and how their defenses are. Not mentioning that I ran through the woods in the middle of the night in my underwear like a headless chicken, trying to shake off half a dozen cumans. So I did what every self respecting hero would to: lying as if there was no tomorrow.

Somehow my character knew of a third entrance I as a player have no recollection of, must be where I was jumping over the balustrade with arrows sticking out my ass and falling into the ditch below. But yeah, that seemed a good place to attack or so. Asked how many there were, I told him of the bandits, and the cumans, and that it were quite a few but not that many... just as my boss confirmed that this means we don't need many reinforcements then, was when I realized the error or my ways. Collecting the few reinforcements, we met up at the entrance that looked completely different in the daylight, and looking at my fellow knights I thought: "that's it? I know I said it's not that many, but I thought we get at least a dozen more men to attack them..."

The battle itself was a bit confusing, which I guess is realistic, most of the time I wasn't quite sure if I'm stabbing the right people, but we made good progress until the last stretch up to a church, where I was running out of men surrounding me. Game over screen, lost too many men. Oops. Being set back to the checkpoint somewhere halfway, I changed my tactics to flanking and wildly swinging into the rear of the enemies. The result were many more men reaching the top, but my armor taking a beating. Then comes the last big wave of bandits, which seem to be more than twice our numbers. There was barely enough time to pray to Crom...

"No one will remember if I was good Henry, or bad. All that matters is that few stood against many, just as it pleases you. Please grant me one wish, grant me REVENGE! And if you do not listen, then to hell with you!"

I ended up near death and with armor in tatters, but the bandits defeated and a handful of knights left on my side, as a cutscene starts. Next thing I know, I'm alone with the guy who almost killed Henry at the end of the prologue, placed inside what can only be described as the thunderdome.

thunderdome.png

I hit the I key for the inventory almost instintively, and to my surprise the game let me repair armor and take a healing drink while my enemy was apparently waiting patiently, glaring at a distance. As I got out from the inventory, he charged right at me. Looks like the countless hours with Bernard paid off.

He couldn't even touch me.

tumblr_mnqpraWLki1rnvb0co1_r1_500.gif

And that was the end of the battle, but instead of letting me loot the corpses, I woke up back in Rattay, with a new task at hand...

I did the same part yesterday. Sadly, my training didn't pay off and I could barely hit him. However, turns out he isn't a fan of arrows to the face. Which is handy, as no way was I beating him with a sword.

Did you ask for more reinforcements? Because I start to wonder how one would get through here if one wants the "Merciful"-achievement?

I did. I also burnt arrows, poisoned food, and thoroughly scouted the place out. Although my 'scouting' was a by product of fleeing in cowardice after being spotted. I ended up circling the entire encampment trying to escape.

What an extreme shift in tone, from the mad and chaotic battlefield to the regimented life among monks. Ora et labora. Well, my Henry has plenty of sins to atone for, so it's fitting I guess.

edit: while watching a let's play of an early section of the game (I thought I'm far enough that this wouldn't affect me), I had a Keyser Söze moment...

giphy.gif

... and I saw the reveal at the end clear as day, and all the implications related to it.

After that I finished my time in the monastery and went back as undercover hedge knight to uncover the conspirators that I as player now already knew. Yesterday night I stopped at the gate for the second (final?) big battle, since it got too late and I need to show up at the office at some point :p

Well I started the game over, and trying to leave to bury my parents. However....this time I can not find an unlocked box of armor. I tried lockpicking, and even went as far as knocking out a guard and taking theirs.

I didn't get away in time cause I was being cheap and wanted money from Lady Steph. Guard woke up and found me.....

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Oh and now I can't knock out any guards....

Hope this helps: -

There are actually two places to get armour. What I would say is to have a quick nap in your room before attempting the robberies, thus saving your game, and saving you lockpicking attempts if everything goes sideways (as happens when you can't lockpick for shit). The first place is the guardroom that is on the battlements. The cool thing about this place is you can grab a shield and some weapons as well, but it's very much trial and error because of the regular patrols (shut the door and crouch I find does help) The second place which is less obvious is another tower that is accessible if you go up the stairs of the inner courtyard and along the corridor where the three chamber rooms are. You'll find that there is a door towards the end that leads to a gantry with a locked door that opens into another tower (presumably one where most of the guards sleep at night). You'll need to lockpick the door, but I've never been caught doing it as it's largely out of view and inside you'll find a number of levels and assorted chest (some locked, some open). I don't think there are any major weapons unlike the main guard room, but you can kit yourself out easily from there.

If you have an inclination to try for some lockpicking, there is quite a nice chest to rob in the room directly next to where you sleep which has some silent shoes in it (useful for when you are sneaking). though you have to be super careful because any fuck up with the lockpicking will grab the attention of the guard outside the building.

Also, The trader at Talmberg does sell lockpicks. However, he won't buy stolen goods.

Finished the game a few days ago. Close to the end I had so much cash, I could buy a few spare sets of plate armor just in case. I also encountered a few weird bugs with the latest patch. For some reason there are halberds lying around the cities where guards "spawn", while they still have one in their hand. One such halberd was blocking the entrance to Rattay castle, because it was stuck in a weird way in the doorframe and I couldn't get past without picking it up. Of course, when I did that the guard standing next to it got angry because I was armed where I was not supposed to. Well, don't let your stupid halberd block the main entrance and I don't need to pick it up, d'uh...

The end of the game was taking longer than I thought, and the ending was ok but set up with a cliffhanger that puts Halo 2 to shame. I also ran into the problem again that I had a number of times before, that cutscene Henry does not necessarily act like in-game Henry, and it was more and more obvious close to the end. Also, consistency between what NPC wear during cutscenes and in game could be better, Divish being the main offender, who quickly swaps to completely different outfits from one scene to the next. Hans Capon completely forgot how to ride a horse, he got stuck in the wilderness, running into trees, through streams and rivers and into fences and houses instead of just sticking to the road next to it. Which can be a bit annoying if your task is to follow him...

Overall I spent about 70 hours on this game and did quite a number of side quests. Despite all the bugs it's definitely on the shortlist for my GotY, I just wish they would have spent two or three months extra fixing bugs and not kick it out the door before the game had time to wake up and brush its teeth.

Haha, that's a great expression. Yeah I waited for this game for half a decade, so I can wait a few more months before they put out some Enhanced Edition that will contain all fixes and and DLCs. It is a shame that these ambitious RPGs are so often so buggy at release.

I have the game and been playing it like crazy... but I never heard of it pre-launch. It was actually an Instagram add and it drew me in... I looked it up - bought it. Now cant stop playing. My question is though, they will have DLC for this game? Or are you speculating?

I have at least 25 hours into the game, but think maybe half of that was kept. I lost progress a few times from not saving enough or starting over. I also have repeated parts numerous times to get it right. I'm having an issue with surrendering, as in I cannot surrender, but this is a known bug and can be fixed by committing a crime. No other serious issues otherwise. The game is really fun.

I was following it since the lead dev quit 2K Czech and started Warhorse. Then of course the kickstarter and 4 years of development afterwards. Check their youtube channel, there is so much cool stuff there from development and the trailers are beautiful.

I know they are testing patch 1.4 and working on 1.5 and some of its designers were already relegated to working on new stuff. The new stuff should be questline from woman PoV (probably Theresa), possibly a dog companion - this stuff was promised during kickstarter but they had to leave it for later due to deadlines. There will probably be more stuff but it is uncomfirmed for now.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I will be sure to look into all of that and check their YouTube channel. I love this game so adding in more content is a-okay in my book!

I started playing this game after 1.3.4 (as I understand a lot of people had problems with bugs..), and have not had any problems so far (other than being stuck in bushes and trees a lot, which I guess isn't a bug per se..) :)

I noticed this game in previews, because people were talking about it as something promising. But I ended up thinking it looked so boring that I never really gave it a third look.. It didn't help when I read about the games "eating"- and save-mechanics.. Turned me off completely.

But so, I was bored one evening, and I had this craving for an RPG.. So I ended up buying it, even though I "knew" that it probably was money down the drain. ..Well, 19 hours in, and it was one of the most profound and engaging games I've enjoyed playing in a long time. Funny how it goes..

I can't get by that I somehow don't even miss the fantasy stuff.. I'm not sure why, I guess I'm just so used to it being a "mandatory" part of an RPG. No screenshot is doing this game a justice BTW..

I did download the save mod, and I don't regret it, even though I kind of understand what the developer was aiming for by not having unlimited saves.
