nVidia GeForce GTX 11-series projected to launch in July.

It's about time, GTX 1070/1080 will be over 2 years old by the time this launches. These will be the first consumer focused cards that will be able to take advantage of hardware based ray-tracing.

GDDR6 will reportedly power most, if not all, of NVIDIA’s upcoming graphics cards. This includes the upcoming gaming focused GeForce 11 series as well as upcoming Tesla and Quadro parts for the AI and autonomous driving markets.
SK Hynix has also confirmed to GamersNexus that GDDR6 will be entering production in three month’s time around late June, early July. This puts the the GeForce 11 series launch right around July, which happens to coincide with areport published earlier this month that put the launch also in the July timeframe.

I bet they'll save GDDR6 for the high end cards, when they moved to G5X they only put it in their most expensive cards.

I wonder what architecture it will end up using (Volta/Ampere) and availability... cards will sell out in few hours/days.

I'm expecting Volta since nVidia said Volta is needed for hardware based DXR/RTX. There is a lot of pent up demand for new gaming GPUs so it will probably be a challenge to purchase one of these for launch, I'm thinking they'll sell out quick as long as they are not price gouging.

Think I am going to stick with my 1070 and just upgrade my cpu to an i7 7700k using an i5 6700k right now.

If ampere even is a thing it's just Volta optimized for gaming most likely, so RTX will be there.

8600k is much more logical upgrade.

I’ll likely just hang on to my 1080 for a while longer, but I’m definitely eager to see what kind of performance the new series provides. I’m expecting about a 15-20% improvement.

The miners are ready.

The newest AMD drivers enabled ray tracing on certain cards already, so the "first consumer card" bit is a bit sketchy.

I'm most interested in what GDDR6 brings to the table, it is going to be more power hungry than HBM2, yet Nvidia has already gone with 32GB on their recently announced Quadro GV100 and 16GB on the GP100 before it. I guess we'll have to see how the desktop cards shake up...

Any information especially official on these cards or no? I was surprised no info was released at nvidia’s latest conference? Usually a bad sign for a leap in performance over the last cards.

No, there was talk that an announcement would be made at GTC, but that was just a waste of time for persons who tuned in waiting for that to happen..because it never did.....

Yeah I legit just found out those processors exist. Getting the 8600k.

8700k has 12 threads but based on the reviews games rarely use more than 8 (and looks like 6/6 cpu is better than 4/8). I think you should wait for ice lake tbh, with 6600/6700k (? - your post is not clear) you still have on of the best gaming cpu's.

That would be the dumbest waste of money you could possible do.

6700 to 7700 is basically like maybe 5% improvement. If you're deadset on upgrading at least spend the extra and go to Coffee Lake.

I have the 6700k also after reading around it looks like I should wait, but to me it feels like I should be able to get more out of my 1070 at 1080p using ultra settings.

I think i'll wait another full year (or a year and a half which is a lot more likely) and only then will buy new GPU for a much better price closer to MSRP or slightly less. So yeah, F PC gaming for another year.

I definitely need them, actual series earnings are so bad now on Nicehash, just 0.13mBTC with a GTX 1070
That sounds about right. I got 6 running and getting about 0.7mbtc a day. Historically speaking i am expecting a performance increase of about 30 % above current generation with the same power draw. You can do the math.

I'd like to think this might make the price of the older cards come down some, but I doubt it's going to happen with any degree of significance

Will wait for the eventual 1180Ti's.

My SLI 1080's are serving me well for 1440p 1440hz gaming.

Might even wait longer to upgrade actually, I really haven't had any issues.

I'm thinking about selling my GPU now while prices are higher and putting the money away for a few months to add to whatever the cost of these will be.

I have consoles to use for the time being,

So, anyone wants to bet what the pricing of 1170 / 1180 will be?
I'd bet FE editions for $500 / $650.

The next bump from AMD will realistically come in Q1 19, Vega on 7nm. (so older architecture, but next gen process advantage)
Given expected shortages and corresponding price gauging, that's perhaps not that long to wait.

I wonder why they didn't bother releasing anything in March this year. Perhaps GDDR6 shortage.

How much more performance can we expect from the best card compared to a 1080ti? 20% more?
Had that ever been the first card to be released?

GTX580 here, Every few months i get the itch to build new pc but then i look to see what PC games are out and upcoming and feel nothing is grabbing me. VR was a big pull as have used Vive, Rift and the Pro sounded decent, but at current price is a no go.

For me it looks like i will sit out till 2019, hopefully then we will have a VR wireless package and 1180TI etc and some new games to get excited about.

WHile Im looking forward to these, at the same time I am not since they are going to be price gouged like nobodys business.

people always assume this and never happens to a significant fashion with any gen.

970s and 980s didn’t drastically drop in price once the 10-series came out. Retailers were selling them at around MSRP. That’s not to say that deals didn’t come around but previous gen video cards dint get marked down anywhere near as frequent as other goods.

How much are these things expected to cost? I really wanna build a high end PC for gaming and video editing. I checked out a 1080Ti recently and said forget it. I can't imagine spending 1000 dollars on that.

I'm expecting a maximum of $699/$499 MSRP for the high end/cut down model, based upon current card MSRPs and historical price increases. Any higher and they should get backlash. Hard to say if retailers will actually sell them at MSRP though considering they have been getting away with price gouging for the past 4 months or so. GPU prices do seem to be coming down though so there is hope that they might be available at whatever their MSRP is.

They could very well keep the entire lineup they got now. but just push everything a notch down with numbering and just rebrand it. the 1080 will be 1170, and the 1080 ti will be the 1170 ti, with 1080 being there ( volta entry 1070 card ), 1080 ti ( volta middle card ) 1090 ( basically there 1080 from volta ) which leaves, 1090 ti for later, and release a volta X or whatever that is going to be there flagship card.

With this type of solution they could simple move up with pricing entirely even above 1080 ti prices they currently got even for the volta entry card.

Specially if the production is going to be hard, those cards will be bought by miners anyway. If the card is going to tank for whatever reason they can drop the rebrands, and rebrand volta itself into a new 1200 series and reduce the prices while at it.

It's nvidia after all, they already start doing this to some extent with the 1000 series, where 1060 is just a rebrand with some more mem on it, 1070 is where the real new generation started.

Wouldn't make sense for them to do that, main reason being that they can produce faster cards on the newer architecture for a bit cheaper than they can currently. 1080 Ti is 474 mm^2. The new card will be 300 something mm^2 and be faster.

None of the 10-series cards were rebrands, they were all newly designed GPUs on a new process. 1060 just happened to perform similarly to a 980 and it was a great value which lead it to become the most used GPU on Steam.

I wonder what the % difference in power between the current 1080Ti and the 1180 will be. Ideally I want to wait for the 1180Ti which will probably only drop early next year then.

I am going to wait for 1180Ti. Sure the 1180 probably will be 15-20% faster than 1080Ti, but there are no games struggling on my 1080Ti at 1200p.

Over the last 2 gen the 80Ti series seems to pack more punch for the dollars.

Parking my funds for a real 4K HDR PC monitor with 10bit 4:4:4 1000nits etc.

So if my understanding of the current PC marked is right. The only way to get one of these at a reasonable price (or at all) will be by pre ordering right?
