Easy allies gave a 10, this is very impressive.
Still, I am kinda annoyed that most discussions are about metacritic scores instead of what the game does.
I am glad they are "fixing" both the storyline (which was becoming more and more nonsensical) and the character.
The gameplay is what I worry a bit, but it seems to be good, great even.

Question: will the son always be with you? Or can you play the game only as Kratos?
Reason I'm asking it, that I've only seen gameplay where the son is around you. He's attacking or at least distracting enemies which I think is not cool. I want to combat the enemies only as Kratos, not relying on some sidekick ....

The series needed a new direction, raging Kratos was fun back then but just like many of us who grew up playing the original GoW games we’ve aged and have a new view in life.
There’s nothing that comes close to a fathers/mothers love for their child.
Day 1 for me and it’ll probably be my GotY.

Dark Souls is very approachable, anyone that doesn't rush into things and thinks before acting can finish it easily, and the game is not clear intentionally, it adds some mistery. not everyone likes spoonfed lore.
It annoys me how souls games are often used as examples of unfair difficulty or unclear story (as if it is badly told).

Sweet! Can't wait to play this... after I finished Battle Chasers a couple weeks ago I put off starting up any other games in anticipation of this. Seems like I kept reading people complain about the combat style change up but it looked good to me. Excited!

That's actually what makes me sceptical. Not to poop on the party, but when journos get this unanimous the gameplay will likely be fairly flaccid. Plus you tend to see these super hyped triple A games only getting their comeuppance a month or 2 down the road. Like Bioshock Infinite and the like.
I hope it's as good as it seems though and everyone enjoys it.

I'm a bit of a history buff and I love the runes, have studied the futharks/futhorc etc. and even I find that thing hideous. It's like an early 2000s tribal tattoo nightmare. Someone should put a shell necklace on it.

Thats great that its getting great reviews, but the tone and gameplay change annoys me a bit
Do people forget how much of a horrible person kratos is, this is a guy that murdered innocent people like nothing, and literally uses people as game progression tools in extremely gory ways, and now you're telling me we now have a story on how kratos is in being a father? Come on now

Skill Up hit all the right notes for me and he felt about the same as I did about UC4 and HZD. I can't wait to get my hands on this game now! 4/20 is going to be a GREAT day!

Just to put things in a different perspective:
Do you realize how much a man can change once he becomes a father? (or a mother, ofcourse)
I'm on a media black-out, but I expect the game to show Kratos struggling to raise his son, while having to deal with his past.
As a single-parent father myself, this change in character/story is what actually excites me the most and I think it's what gave all the scores a big push.
Every review adresses this and they say he earns this also because they talk about all the terrible stuff he did.
However I just hope they do not hammer it into you over and over again.

Though it can be argued that Ian and Damiani try to push their political viewpoints where it needn't be (namely Ian). However, this is a Huber review and Huber is a pretty chill dude.
Glad to hear a lot of the praise as I was expecting around 84-88 on review aggregate sites. Still a bit nervous that this is all overblown, so I will temper my expectations.
