There is no denying there has been a massive shortage of games this gen and 10 years ago i would have lost my patience. But I'm in my 30's now and a father of 3 so the following has been my Xbox One roadmap -

TitanFall
Sunset Overdrive
Forza Horizon 2
Halo 5
Killer Instinct
Ori
Rocket League
Forza Horizon 3
Firewatch
DOOM
TitanFall 2
CoD
PES2018
PUBG

With a few games in between so ive been plenty busy but compared to the 360 its pretty crazy we're towards the end of the Gen and we've had -

1 Halo game
1 Gears
1 Mass Effect
Still no Crackdown
No Bioshock
No 'Platinum' games
Very little from Capcom

It feels like this Gen is still getting started when in fact we're closer to the end than the beginning :(

Yes, but that's across PC/XBOX-ONE/360, not just XBOX-ONE.....Tbf, when I bought TF1 on PC it was about $10.00 and that was a long time ago. Still, with those sales and all that hype, that game fell flat very fast, numbers online dwindled very fast. There was no zeal to keep on playing.

point is that the game sold well and was a killerapp for the xbox one. made me get an xbox one instead of the ps4.

Depends on who you ask. For me, it's disappointing as a Xbox fanboy who would like them to be in pole position of gaming.

At the same time, it could be the defining generation.

Do you ever listen to yourself, and did you really just say this gen is over? lol. When the playstation came out, it was only really competing against Nintendo, and Sony had the upper hand because they went with discs instead of cartridges. That's a completely difference scenario when xbox finally broke into the console business, against to established consoles, especially considering the rest of the world's hatred of western gaming. This thread is full of people conflating game sales to game quality, and it's pretty absurd. The xbox one flopped because it came out of the gates at a higher price, a weaker system, and with some horrible pr crap that MS was never going to recover from. That in no way is a reflection of the quality of games that have been released. There are multiple ignorant posts about how there has been no new IP's on the One. And yet Ryse was a launch game. Titanfall came out within a year of launch. You have Sunset Overdrive, which is a phenomenal game by the way, and also is when I decided to purchase an Xbox One. Microsoft has tried to do different things, Project Spark for example, and it didn't work out. Then you have Recore, which is a decent game. Ori and the Blind Forest is a fantastic game, along with Cuphead. Sea of Thieves is also an attempt at trying something new. And yes, there are sequels to already existing franchises such as Halo 5, Forizon 7, Gears of War 4, and Quantum Break. This is true on any console... Where would Nintendo be if it stopped releasing Mario and Zelda games, and Metroid? When people get annoyed at MS releasing the same franchises, those people are intentionally closing their eyes to the endless sequels that Sony and Nintendo spit out. And please stop trying to justify sony's lack of BC on the ps4. If the ps4 had it you would be praising Sony from the roof tops.

I wasn't into Xbox One, didn't even buy one, until, Xbox One X. Now it's my favorite console of all time. I am a sucker for both backwards compatibility and enhanced games so it's really the perfect console for me.

This is the first console I've switched over to all digital on because all signs are pointing to them supporting your BC digital library on their next-gen Xbox.

I even stocked up a few years on Game Pass and EA access thanks to some good deals. I felt better about paying upfront, that way it feels less like a rental service. Plus I can watch out for future sales to top it off as they come. Yeah I love Game Pass and EA access too. I'm drowning in games to play and it feels good.

The complaint about exclusives is totally fair. They've not hit as well as they have in the past and there's been far less of them. Only now a few Japanese games are starting to show up thanks to Bandai Namco. I feel like they have heard this pretty clear and have made some plans to try and get better with this stuff. There's no proof as of yet, especially since they've said it in the past but I still feel like they are going to make a comeback on this. Yes I would love to see lots of amazing exclusives on Xbox One, it would make it even better.

It's hard to say that it's the most disappointing since It's my favorite of all consoles. I'll say the Xbox One was, but not the Xbox One X.

I have one but almost never turn it on. Not sure what to make of that, but the 360 was my go-to console last generation, and the original Xbox didn't get the same attention from me that the PS2 did, but still got a ton of play. I think they really mismanaged the brand and squandered a lot of mindshare, because in my case, I'm not even mad about it any more, I'm just kinda like, "whatever." I just don't care about them right now, and that's a bad place to be. Don't get me wrong, I like the games I have on the system, but there's just nowhere near enough of them.

I'm not at all interested in spending half a grand on the XOX, but the enhanced games thing sounds really awesome. Especially since I have a bunch of my original Xbox games lying around.

I still like my XB1 overall, but it has been a disappointing generation.

1. Under powered hardware compared to PS4.

2. Lack of exclusive games (I have only bought 3 full priced games since I got my XB1).

3. Questionable hardware and software quality. My first XB1 (which was an expensive Gears 4 one) kept resetting itself intermittently, so I had to take it back. The official battery charge kit didnt hold much charge either. RIGHT NOW my XB1 cant download games from the market place or install updates properly. It just says "installing..." but no data comes through. This has been going on for about 4 days already. Im not sure if its another faulty consoe for me or a networking issue with XBL. Either way, its not a good look for the brands quality.

4. Cant use my XB360 controllers on XB1. To me this seems like a blatantly anti-consumer and mean policy. It also means I cant play fighting games on the XB1, because I like using my XB360 arcade stick.

Been very happy with the Xbox's eco system. It's been very nice to enjoy my previous library of great games on the X! So kudos to MS on saving me money on remasters. The good games have been there from the beginning. I've enjoyed the Forza's, the Halo's, the Gears, the Dead Risings and the new ips like Sunset and Quatum oh and Ryse (that should've gotten more praise as a launch title than what it actually got).

I do feel MS has self sabotage themselves this gen. There messaging and focus has been all over the place and that has hurt their brand. Games and content should be there mantra. The Xbox live gold console gamer should be their priority not the pc user. Exclusives matter and a new system shouldn't be hindered by it's predecessor. Their pc stategy, game pass strategy and play anywhere strategy needs retooling. Like I said the Xbox live gold member should be priority; they are the one footing the bill and not the other way around.

So as this gen get's closer to it's end. I hope MS has the blueprints to make an evolving console that's fast, powerful with the ability to let me enjoy my gaming library of previous xbox systems as well as my pc drm free library.

I guess I'm about to find out. Getting an Xbox One X this week :). I think I'm going to love it based on the backwards compatibility alone. It's such an impressive thing they're doing. I hope a standard has been set for the next generation.

I hope they can get that first party lineup situated cause everything I've seen running on the X looks great. I want to see what first party games built from the ground up for the X look like.

What risks have Sony taken that have paid off? I'm looking at all the first party Sony exclusives on PS4 that did over 1m and maybe one or two games are risky, the rest are either sequels or derivative of other works.

Perhaps I'm missing something...
Yes, because all risky games need to sell millions???? Risky games are about variety and gives all types of gamers a chance to love something on the platform.

Funny that you failed to mention so many unique VR games on PS4 amongst others, and some titles perfect for VR like; Rigs, London Heist, Wipeout , Thumper, Tumble, Superhot, Rez, Re7 and of course non vr, we've had;

The tomorrow children, The last guardian, Gravity rush 2, Until Dawn, Matterfall, Bound, No man's sky, with Dreams, Concrete Genie, Lost Soul Aside, Erica, left Alive etc...coming soon. There are so many others, but I think that about gives an indication.

What about games? Something like Sea Of Thieves with missing content and enemies not even fully rendered is not beating something like Horizion Zero Dawn with like 8 million sales, new IP and dozen of GOTY awards or God Of War.

Super Lucky Tale is not a real reason for someone to buy a XONE and doesn't compare to Death Stranding or God Of War or The Last Of Us 2.

So...lets just ignore MS is making less content then really any time in their history because 360 games and renting digital games? Its like saying might as well keep 360 and just use RedBox, would someone really say that is the best gen to them? Last gen games and a rental service?
Could you imagine if the best games PS4 had was Recore, Quantum Break, Ryse, SOT and Super Lucky Tales? XBOX fans would laugh the snot out of those, if they had the best rated games this gen, like GOW, UC4, Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona etc, then you know what the conversation would be......From the time you see people putting (I mean superlucky tales) as one of their best games then you know it's a desperate plight. SLT is not even half as good as Yooka laylee or A hat in time and these games are not even 90+ rated platformers even, just about 75+, which just goes to show. Now that the recent SOT was slaughtered by critics, we will see hopes shift to Crackdown 3, a series that did not even sell well on the 360, where the last game in the series was not anything special. Crackdown is going to be slaughtered by reviewers after it's hibernation in development hell, it's never a good sign.

It's like Xbox fans just hype any game which is exclusive at this point, whether it's quality or not and when critics slam those games they then say it's a great game and they're having fun. Yet what really happens is after those games come out, is that almost immediately after, you see all talk subside about said games, when they don't do favorably with critics. Look at Halo Wars 2 and Super Lucky Tales, DF did not even do a faceoff on said title's final code or on release, yet prior to XBONEX launching all we heard was that these games were going to be 4k native with uncompromised pixels, yet perhaps, they didn't want to show that these games had subpar performance and that Halo Wars 2 was missing many graphical features from the PC version and even the XBOX ONE-S version in the plight for 4k......

Doubt you even played it or ever turned on an Xbox One. You sound like a sad fanboy that just wants to flame and derail this thread.

On topic though, I really enjoyed Ryse, even completed it in the hardest difficulty. Yes it was repetitive at times, but overall I liked it.
Yes, it's a point some of you keep on saying is not important, but do you realize that you can actually play Ryse at 4k at 60fps on PC? Ok forget about 4k, do you know you can play ryse at 900p like the XBOX-ONE-S on PC and even 60fps if you wish? So yes, you don't need an XBOX to play these games, which detracts from buying an XBOX to play said titles, because you could actually play all those console exclusives better elsewhere.

Everything from the Xbox One announcement to the release of the Xbox One S/X was super disappointing.

MS made a cheap oversized vcr shaped ugly box and expected anyone to want to buy that piece of crap. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking.

The past year or so have been excellent though thanks to the excellent BC content and 4K updates.

No, Xbox One X is perfect machine for the hardcore gamer.
Neat, but that doesnt suddenly make the first four years of mediocrity suddenly not exist.

With nostalgia goggles - yes
Without them - The OG Xbox didn't really have all that many exclusives, and had a short support life. But, Halo felt magical at the time, and it was the first network centric console, and performance wise it often seemed half a generation ahead of the rest. Hard to say.

What MS needs right now is to let 343 and Coalition make new IP. Nothing wrong with Halo or Gears, simply that we don't need them for LIFE! MS is trying to run a evergreen type established concept, not realizing that very few can. Nintendo can get away with Mario Kart, Smart, Zelda and Mario every gen like clock work because not only are they established enough to do that, they do it well enough that their base in the MILLIONS buys every gen. MS doesn't have that type of set up and I think its silly for them to attempt it. Sony tried that with PS1, stuff like Crash, Spyro etc I think were just aimed at simply doing what Nintendo did, but Sony not owning Crash or Spyro IP, was the BEST mistake they made.

Enter PS2, Sony pushes Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank annnnd suddenly the concept of new IP isn't so scary, moving forward this is the concept they push.
PS2 got Jak, Ratchet, Sly etc, yet PS3 got Uncharted, InFamous, Resistance from those respective teams, So with The Last Of Us, Days Gone, Horizon, Ghost, Dreams etc, its clear Sony knows when to let a IP die and when to let a team move in a different direction if they feel just. Let the IP move its course and move on. PS4 still got Killzone, we still got Ratchet, those concepts STILL EXIST, so before anyone tries to strawman this, no why am I saying NEVER do Halo or Gears. If Horizon, Days Gone, Spiderman, Ghost can exist all while Killzone, Ratchet, Infamous and MLB The Show can still be made BY THE SAME TEAMS DURING THE SAME GEN, pretty sure MS doesn't need 343 being held at gunpoint to make Halo 100 times. Those teams likely have ideas that MS won't let them actually do. Low sales show their fans want new IP, even as someone who doesn't own a XONE, I want to see MS making new IP. I might buy it on PC or even a XONE if its exclusive if its actually cool looking.

I mean, its a shortage of exclusive content for MS. That simply applies to them to be honest. We've gotten a TON of AAA content this gen, simply less from MS.

We still got COD, yet more with Destiny.
We still got Battlfield yet more with Battlefront
We still got Fallout and even Elder Scrolls as a MMO, on top of Doom, Evil Within and rumored new IP Starfield.
We still got Assassins Creed while still getting more with Watchdogs.

So 3rd party not only is continuing with what we know, they are releasing other series on top of what they did last gen. That doesn't sound like a shortage to me, simply like just one for MS.

I think both Halo and Gears are dead franchises (to me). They are creatively bankrupted. MS needs a new flagship franchise, and they haven't produced a single new franchise this gen worth pissing on.

So far, by far, with the One originally being one huge design, marketing and strategic mistake.

Spencer seems to be determined to turn things around, though.
The X is an incredibly well designed piece of hardware that makes us hopeful the Xbox division went back to the philosophy behind the 360 or even the og xbox.
I'll take that as an indication of where their strategy in regards to games is going as well.

The BC support is huge, but it's almost counterproductive when you think it's the single best thing the new console does.

I think MS's problem is that they're too reactionary, they lack their own vision or perhaps they just have no pulse on the market, well it's pretty much all of that combined......... I mean who asked for TV on a console, who asked for Kinect and Milo. Eyetoy was done a long time ago and kinect was something MS thought they should do in response to that, but then Sony had moved on to PSMove and 3D and now Sony has moved on to VR this gen. I will not be surprised if XBONEX 2 has a VR headset tbh, to react to Sony one gen later. XBONEX was a reaction to PRO and though I think it was warranted since XBOX-ONE-S was really undepowered, it is what it is.

So no pulse on the market means, how could MS ever think that such harsh DRM would fly on a potential mass market product, how would they ever conceive that TV TV TV is what would bring GAMERS in? How would they ever think that flailing your arms around with Kinect games and speaking into the camera's mic that hardly picked up what you're were saying anyway, would be what gamers asked for, concentrating on all that and forgetting the main reason people buy a console is.....GAMES...yes games.

Touting 4k bluray, that has no pull in the market, has nothing to do with games and pushing two successive XBOX-ONE consoles in 2013 and 2017 to the $500.00 threshold by addons no gamer needs (Kinect+TV in 2013, and then 4k bluray+ a vapor chamber to keep an SFF cool). That's the uptick in price for XBONEX, nobody is convinced that simply 4 CU's more plus an uptick in clockspeed over PRO's GPU with no vega or custom features cost MS that much more a whole year later.....

Yet, all the rage on BC is because of one thing only, some exclusive games from a 17 year old console is MS's best bet for exclusive content this gen and just like this gen, most are not even really their IP's and most are 30fps. As for exclusives, I mean Brute Force was hyped to kingdom come just as you had hype for Titanfall, SOT, Quantum Break etc....You swear BruteForce would have garnered 100 meta back then, but it was'nt close. MS needs to stop holding unto strings over a cliff and focus on what will get them ahead. OG XBOX and 360 games will not save MS even at 16k and 100xAF. People want new IP's, quality IP's , variety in IP's and they want a bevy of them. There must be a set of games that defines a console, that fosters it's identity and differentiation from the lot, and that's not rooted in BC. OG has come and gone, they cut it short early, 360 has come and gone, now to go back and use these old games to sell your new gen box is just a mixture of irony, silliness and it's just not going to work. It's not like the games are critical darlings now remade and now run at 60fps. I mean Oblivion falls to 21 fps at the start of the adventure in BC and if anyone tells me they are playing Oblivion on XBONEX or that's what they bought it for, instead of running it on a paperweight PC at 100fps, then they need to be smacked silly.

Errrrh! but yes, MS needs to do more with new Ip's. Sony has a whole slew of new IP's every generation, it's how they do things. Their most popular Ip's like GTS, UC, GOW, they still try to change things up with them. Sport mode in GT, swing mechanics and more verticality in UC, and of course the most change in GOW. These are their established franchises, then we have Detroit, Concrete Genie, Dreams (which looks to be a game EDGE magazine will love), probably one of the most content ambitious games I have ever seen, a genre of genres if you will. Then we have Days Gone which is not even your typical zombie game as there's so much depth to that game in combat and approach. Sony don't just do a franchise, they try to up the ante and innovate, that's why they have success with their new IP's and older IP's.

Ok, so look at this gen, you realize we have had no Ninja Gaiden or Onimusha from Tecmo or Namco respectively, hence Ghosts of Tsushima. I even believe at some point Sony should delve into another fighting game. I think Namco kinda disappointed so far in taking Tekken or even SC6 to the next level, looking at what I've seen of SC6 so far, graphics, modes/better multi-tier stages, animation, physics, higher quality effects/textures on a two man stage, I did expect much more this gen in that genre. Hell, where is Tecmo with a new DOA with no sub-par textures and brown stages this time, where is a new gen VF by Sega? So far, the most impressive fighter as far as animation goes is SFV, but there is room for another. I think that's how Sony does things, they gauge the market and build their library as to where there is a void or where more franchises in a genre is necessary, so I'm sure they may be looking at a fighter...... We also have games like Detroit, Until Dawn, Inpatient and playlink games like Erica, and of course Sony has that genre covered. Then there's Bloodborne and Demons Souls before it and now they probably have the best combat in GOW because they're constantly re-imagining/re-designing/innovating on their establsihed Ip's.

They can take a break from Killzone for now, they can bring Resistance back on PS5. Then when they're ready to re-deploy Killzone, they can go totally different, let us play the Helghast story and mix the gameplay up. So old franchises can be redeployed and reimagined with a bevy of new Ip's in varied genres is how they do things, nothing stays stale or cookie-cutter. I mean a new Syphon Filter is rumored to be coming because (where are the Sam Fishers et al this gen, Sony sees a void there). If resident evil didn't make it in, they could have done another extermination game etc.....(Primal or Ghost Hunter), of course they also have TLOU at the helm of such a genre. They have the IP's, they push the Ip's....... So you see, when you have a console where there is a dedicated base for even the most niche games, like folklore last gen or games that are not as casual, like Nioh, Nier Automata or even DC coupled with your blockbuster/critical darlings mixed in, then you know you have done something right.....Perhaps, MS can take a page there and stop focusing only on GAAS games or the next big multiplayer game, loot boxes et al..

Absolutely, without a question. After dropping or destroying my two favorite franchises (Bioshock & Mass Effect), there has been maybe 2 games that I've liked since Xbox One came out.

Been a Microsoft supporter since Xbox release (2001, 17 years ago) and I have decided my next console will be a Playstation.

I'm sorry but there is something to be said about being able to enjoy your old library with new up to date features! That's good thing and not a waste of time! I hope the ps5 will allow me to enjoy the recent GOW without me having to shell out money for a remaster!

My two cents: Taking each console in the context of its time, I think this is easily Microsoft's most disappointing generation. However, I also think that's mostly due to just how strong the XBox and 360 gens were rather than an innate weakness in the XB1.

Sure, MS struggled out of the gate this generation. I don't think anyone can argue with that. Also, while they've had some really good games this gen, their stable of exclusives is lacking compared to the 360 and XB1 years. But then, how could it not be? Halo was a (and possibly "the") premier shooter series for the majority of the last two generations. Gears of War was a huge exclusive for the 360 generation. Microsoft's online service was the console standard (even though we had to shell out for the pleasure), and even smaller projects like Crackdown and new IPs like Mass Effect seemed to land just right. They couldn't lose. On top of that, pretty much every console maker had more exclusives coming out for their platforms than they do today thanks to smaller game budgets/team sizes/dev times and the sheer number of large and midsized development studios out there. Now, with the biggest franchises being third party cross platform titles, games being fewer and farther between, and Microsoft having to cancel or delay a few key exclusives like Scalebound and Crackdown 3, it's not hard to see how longtime fans could be more disappointed by this gen than the previous two.

That's not to say that the Xbox One is bad or even that the PS4/Switch/PC/etc. etc. is oh so much better. I think you could make a fair argument for the PS4 being Sony's most disappointing gen if it hadn't been immediately preceeded by the PS3 craziness, and I don't know anyone who thinks the Wii U has been Nintendo's shining moment. I think the Xbox and 360 generations being so great make it pretty easy to see Xbox One as Microsoft's "worst" console generation, but that's really (and kind of weirdly) not a terrible thing.

I kinda agree. At very least they need new franchises alongside the older ones. Gears has been around about the same length of time as Uncharted but that still gets hype/praise. I think it's because Sony has other new stuff and that takes some of the pressure off their older stuff.

That is a cinematic story driven game, didn't you hear that Xbox players only enjoy story-less shooters?

I think so. This is the only generation I've sold my xbox (due to lack of exclusive titles.) I'm waiting for a reason to jump back on board but it appears as though I'll be waiting until their next console generation at this point.

Not if you're a racing game fan, their line up is arguably the best available by quite some margin.

Best Co Op gaming experiences are found there as well imo.

It started off slowly but the X and the whole backwards compatibility push has been tremendous.

I guess so, but I've still yet to decide whether I should get the X or not. It's a great console and MS has done an exceptional job with bc, but 4k or not, I still don't see how it is a major game changer to those who have played those better bc games before, like me. RDR would be an example.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I rarely have any need or even time to play and finish single player games more than once. There's just so many games coming out all the time. Of course there's some exceptions and it's great for newcomers, but all this bc talk with 4k visuals makes it seem like it's very common here to play older generation games many times over.

I was always a pro Microsoft guy until bluray won and Microsoft left me with a worthless HD DVD player. I stopped playing my 360 for PS3 last gen. I went PS4 instead of X1 this generation and have not missed a single game that I wanted to play that wasn't available either on PC or PS4.

If the difference between X1 and PS4 comes down to exclusives, Microsoft was knocked out in the first round of this fight.

Yes it is, without a doubt.

Halo made the Xbox, and Halo will kill it (kinda srs). They don't care, and they shouldn't enjoy success if they don't care to make AAA quality games. The final product we get for Halo is shameful under the 343i brand, I own an Xbox ONLY BECAUSE OF HALO. And I would wager to say without Halo Xbox likely would have never taken out. They disrepsected their best franchise, I no longer have any allegience to the Xbox brand and wont' buy Halo games anymore...cuz they suck.

They are not doing super well, but it's not a trainwreck.

From the things they did this gen:
Gamepass - excellent
One x - excellent

Some notable exclusive releases:
Sunset
Gears 4
Halo collection
Cuphead
Ori
Halo 5
Quantum break
Killer instinct

They are doing okay. Tied with PS in USA, which I feel is one of their primary target markets. They are lacking more good exclusives but given most good games are multiplatform, you get a lot of value in the Xbox ecosystem and better hardware. Very impressed at the x getting to native 4k for a fraction of high end GPU cost.

I think good things are on the horizon, but they need to step things up to better compete with PS (those GoW scores, damn).

What was notable about that list? That Halo MCC did not work as advertised? That Halo 5 was falsely advertised and half baked? Quantum break was dead on arrival, Gears 4 was just ok, Sunset was dead on arrival, Killer Instinct is trying to stay relevant.....

The only notable exclusives are Ori and Cuphead and honestly I did not know Ori was exclusive

I will just continue to rant that Halo destroyed Xbox, and is destroying it, and will continue to destroy it until 343i is removed. You only need 1 good franchise to sell consoles and Microsoft has exactly zero right now.

I wouldn't add Quantum Break on the list of successes for the Xbox One. Still waiting for Alan Wake 2 with less steven king and more twin peaks.

What was the last high praise game from xbox that's a actual exclusive their your answer.

Cuphead. And before that Titanfall (1).

where exactly was titanfall praise ? also what part of exclusives don't people understand ?

For me its been the most disappointing gen from Microsoft, keep in mind my first Xbox was the Star Wars R2D2 360, I love that thing. I did go back to grab most of what I missed on the original Xbox and then caught up during that gen with everything I wanted too for the 360, Left 4 Dead blew me away. Microsoft started really strong this gen with Titanfall as that was the game that made me buy in and justify an Xbox One, I even snagged the collectors edition with the giant Atlas robot. I absolutely LOVE Cuphead, such beautiful moving art and as much as I die I dont even care, it was a real dis-service to the game that no physical version was released. I know at some point I'll be grabbing Sea Of Thieves once there is abit more content to it but where the hell are the rest of the exclusives though?! I would have loved to see a new Age of Empires on the Xbox One and I get it generally RTS's dont work well but they made Halo Wars work and as a console guy thats where I play that stuff, shit give me a nice updated version of Catan even. So much potential so many missed opportunities, you can have the most powerful console on the market and it wont matter if you dont have any games for it.

for exclusives, yes its disappointing. Until the X was released hardware was also disappointing. But the X does resolve the hardware disappointment. Still have a game problem though.

I feel uniquely qualified to rate consoles this gen as a PC-centric gamer who won his Destiny PS4 and Xbox One X from Taco Bell -- The #1 Discount Games Retailer. I think Xbox One X is a really cool piece of hardware, sort of like a Steam machine done right. I think Microsoft has really nailed some pro-consumer stuff this gen which is weird because I always perceived them as being fairly unfriendly to consumers as regards Xbox, the most egregious being X1's debut. Now there's GamePass which I think is pretty cool, I love the Play Anywhere idea and Games with Gold seems like it puts out alright content but I still think paying for online gaming is dumb coming from the PC. Finally I really like the controller other than the d-pad and I think the hardware looks good too.

Games? What's there seems good, I like Forza, I'm having fun with Sea of Thieves even though it's overpriced for what it is (except on GamePass) and Halo (which I'd like even more with a mouse :) but it is pretty damn light.

All the games I listed are well reviewed. They may not be killer apps, but they do bring some nice things to the table.

People are going to hate and nitpick. Bottom line, if you have a choice of only 1 console, you have to decide if you like shooters and coop vs cinematic games and Japanese titles more. Either way you're getting a good console ecosystem. Not everyone likes Halo, not everyone likes interactive movies (uncharted 4).

I was a PS fan at the start of this gen, but lately the Sony games started feeling same-ey with too much emphasis on being like movies. Xbox gave me couch coop in gears and Halo, so I am enjoying that more. Plus, having the Xbox x replace my PC makes it my primary system, while PS4 collects dust.

Nothing will ever touch bloodborne for me., Though. Maybe if DMC5 ever releases. ..
