Hello NeoGAF! Happy New Year! Here's to another year of pick-up posts!

It can be a drain on the wallet, sure... but it can also be a reminder of things I want (or don't want).

It brings people together with common interests and it is a way for me to chronicle my journey as a gamer & individual as the years go by.

You know... I first started this thread back in 2006 with a clear goal to see REAL photos (not something I can google online) because I wanted to see the personality & individuality in what we all like.

NeoGAF MARCH 2018 Pick-Up Post! Show Us Your Gaming Goods + MORE (REAL PICS ONLY)!

Dear GAF,

Second month of 2018 complete! How was your February?

TWO DOWN, TEN MORE TO GO.

In typical new month fashion, let's reflect on the previous month and post our favorite pick-ups from February 2018. As we go through March 2018, let's post our latest pick-ups as well! Take care everyone!

Your Neighborhood Friendly,
MarkMan

Welcome to the NeoGAF monthly tradition! Since November 2006 <3 !!!

February, the shortest month... It was all a blur. Here's what I got!

26868315_1577716785658586_6140263332885561344_n.jpg

The pals at Bandai Namco Ent. sent me this awesome Xbox One DRAGON BALL FighterZ pack filled with a ton of DBFZ stuff (including the game)!

26871561_566291720401576_2120417185007403008_n.jpg

Then my friends at Square-Enix sent a care package for my squad! We're definitely destined for DISSIDIA!

26866521_2081835518738972_813207291053473792_n.jpg

Limited Run Games sent over some retro goodness with a new twist, Double Dragon IV!

27579546_199641037285729_7129699067738718208_n.jpg

I played Terranigma in December and fell in love with it. While in Japan I had to pick up the Japanese Super Famicom version!

27573439_439773356441499_5214208851326271488_n.jpg

For Valentine's Day, my girlfriend got me flowers (I LOVE FLOWERS)!

27877606_866110640236412_3523071963926888448_n.jpg

... so we jumped in Epoch, headed back to 1985 and ate some classic Doritos, while drinking some Pepsi. Good times.

27578952_1553766908072558_2812697374034493440_n.jpg

Picked up the HD remaster of Secret of Mana for PS4!! Also got the new Nike Air Max 270 -- extremely comfortable for a lifestyle shoe.

27581753_1584519308325449_6422578740206764032_n.jpg

Got the Air Jordan 1 'Gold Toe' like many others. Love the classic sneaker with the patent black/gold colorway combination.

27880528_2040304346239561_432398147512172544_n.jpg

Love the Air Jordan 3 in black/cement so much. I had to get three pairs to last me awhile.

28155696_307144263143794_7676663883028758528_n.jpg

The Nike Air Force 1 'Swoosh Pack' in black. You can remove the Nike swoosh and swap colors around!

27881100_142927736523911_8355948274112266240_n.jpg

Sad that I missed out on the 'Gundam' Air Max 98 recently, so I vented by getting some Air Jordan 1 'Bred Toes' -_-

Have a good one, NeoGAF! If you'd like to follow my adventures, please follow me on twitter or instagram (both accounts are @MarkMan23)!

picked up a gunstar heroes double lp soundtrack with some of my military earnings. Apparently it's part of a series of Genesis game soundtracks, so I'll go broke I guess

I had the Amiibos before but got Kirby Star Allies and Attack on Titan 2

I also wanted to add in a little bit on Attack on Titan 2 because there is no Official Attack on Titan 2 Thread for anyone who was curious, played the first game or just loved the anime series. Keep in mind I'm only about maybe 2 hrs in, the game starts with a several training missions before you start slicing the napes of Titans. If you've played the first game there are definite visual improvements over the first game as far as the characters and within the actual game. I didn't really look at my options much but it appears the game is available with just English subtitles which is fine as a fan of the anime.

I have noticed a couple little changes off the bat, no longer do you zip over to a member of the scout team to resupply gas and blades. That is done via a tower system and there are a couple towers to choose from and likely more as you progress through the game although the current options are a tower to restock and a defensive tower that fires at Titans without any human interaction which is nice and provides abit of strategy luring groups of Titans where you've maybe built a gauntlet of towers to help share the work load during busy sequences.

The Omni-directional mobility gear (ODM gear) handles better than the first game too, as well it offers a couple of more maneuvers for gamers who truly want to master the use of the ODM gear, offering kind of a sneak attack which is harder to pull off but deals more damage and an attack where you hook in to a Titan and loop around.

The plot/ story has changed abit too, you enter as a recruit you create who enlisting in Eren and Mikasa's training class along with all the other scouts, starting from season 1 of the anime, building friendships with optional interactions, chains into main characters building stronger relationships, coming to you for opinions and interacting with you more than whats just in the main story.

The combat while engaging the Titans feels much like the first game but tweaked slightly, maybe just enough from what I've played to vary it up from the first one abit.

New games are expensive these days but I feel like I'm going to get my monies worth from this as Im a huge fan of the series and the improvements they've made standout. I'm atleast curious to see more of it unfold and see how it plays through with more time in.

MarkMan isn't that active here or over on reset. He did make an april thread over there so maybe he forgot - I don't see why someone else couldn't make a new one though. It's one of my favorite threads and maybe better for my wallet that it dies though.

I guess the assumption that MarkMan was continuing the series of threads is why there hasn't been another made.

This sort of thing is probably the worst aftereffect of the forum split, while era had the same general people migrating over with their respective threads, it made things unclear here of who was remaining/taking over threads, etc.
This is no means anything against MarkMan, just a general observation.

Maybe MarkMan saw that each month fewer and fewer people posted their monthly pick-ups and decided that it's not worth it anymore? And even if someone else will make another thread do you guys think that it's worth it at this point to make new threads with 5-10 posts in them? It saddens me to see this but i think there's nothing we can do.

It's a wonderful idea to have them. Its interesting to see what everyone purchased. One continuous thread will work if you ask me. Time stamps portray when the person purchased the item and etc. that's just an idea of mine so please don't see it as I'm trying to take over. :/

I have two digital purchases and one up and coming physical. That's news id love to share, but it's digital and it's a preorder. :) money or credit left my account immediately, so I felt like it was a purchase.
IMG_4184.png

Again, where would I go to share this news. I sold some things today and I bought 3 $50 PSN cards with the credit. I'm getting into the habit of selling and I told myself I wouldn't do it again after last gen.

Edit: I just had a quick look at MarkMan MarkMan 's Twitter feed and I think that he has had other things on his mind than creating a new thread here for gaming related pick-ups in April. All the best mate.

I'm sure you understand that i've absolutely nothing against these monthly pick-up threads.

Considering current (and frankly depressing) situation on GAF i actually think that it is a much better idea :)

Given how many years this forum has had the monthly threads I think it would nice to keep them as monthly.
Does anyone want to take them over?

I don't think that the current situation on GAF is depressing (not even in the slightest; this is a great place for gamers now) but I do agree that a single pick-up/loot thread that everyone can subscribe to would be a good idea and more inline with the current post count. Otherwise it's too easy for monthly threads like this to get lost and forgotten about.

Wait, what are you saying, that it was not so before?
Well, despite all the politics drama and activists, there were many "neutral" ppl that liked these kind of threads, that avoided this side of oldgaf. They were the majority of the community, and they left due to the zeitgeist.

I still think NeoGaf will recover itself from this moment but it will take a few years.

Agreed. GAF became really toxic in the last few years of its former iteration. Consequently, I mainly dwelled in the Gaming Community sub threads as the main page was way too political and activist heavy for me. Plus the old mods were a bit crazy. But that's old news now. I really like what GAF has become.

Back on topic: I'll post some pics of my new gaming loot later today. It's nothing too exciting but it'll keep the thread going :D

Bought Gran Turismo Sport a couple days ago. That game is HARD man but super fun. Currently trying to get all the gold medals in the track practice mode to get the free random cars that come with it. The game looks RIDICULOUS on a 4k 10bit HDR TV.

Btw, first post on GAF. Sup guys!

So um, guys... maybe someone should ask MarkMan if he has plans on doing monthly threads as before? I mean, it's just not right making the decision to create only one thread without asking him first. Who know what is happening with him and why he is not making new ones here.

Since no one seems to want to make the plunge, could you maybe do it?
I've noticed that both here and era he's been offline the past couple of days but he is active on twitter.

I like the idea of a yearly thread. Traffic isn't as high and it would be easier to just follow one thread.

All I've bought recently is a bunch of mulch for my garden so that's why I have nothing. :p

It’s not much better on the new site either, people using these sites too poor I guess, what happened?

I slowed down buying dumb shit but I also slowed down taking pictures uploading and posting because I don't know I guess I wonder who cares and what could I have that is worth that time and effort to show off? I do enjoy the threads though since I find things I didn't know came out or gifts for people. Being 35 with a kid I don't see the need to buy so much stuff that would be appealing here. She might post at some point though and start the cycle again I don't know. Who gives a shit about roblox cards?

I do think we need a general pickup thread though and don't think the monthly posts are really needed so add me to that list. Also waiting for markman is ok with me but after 20 days I doubt he will return since he almost never missed a day in what 10 years?

So, any news? Should we make yearly thread?

I think we should. I sent a PM to Mark on Twitter enquiring about this thread but I never received a response and it's been an entire month since this thread was looked at by him. I say that we should give Mark the benefit of the doubt for a few more days (because he was such a fantastic contributor in the past) and if he doesn't respond, then perhaps we should all organise something specifically for our current NeoGAF crew.

It'd be great if we could all have a single, collaborative thread that we could all contribute to over the course of a year IMO.

Yup, agreed

It will take some time to NeoGaf gather a good group to justify monthly topics. I myself always have goods to share.

I am down with the one thread. Mark man did a legit job these past years but I believe the community isn't there yet to justify a monthly thread.

Finally something was delivered to me without months of delay :

Fantastic loot haul mate! I'm loving the Alliance Alive US launch edition. I wish that we got that here in PAL territories. NTSC territories scored the best version of Radiant Historia too. Nintendo Europe has really stopped giving a sh1t about the platform for some reason. It's sad because it's made me *completely* stop buying games for my 3DS, even though I'm more keen than ever to invest in 3DS software. It's a terrible business decision from the current European office for Nintendo. In terms of stupidity: it's not quite on the tier of SEGA America during the Saturn era, but it's delving into that territory for me.

Nintendo of Europe is a weird one. And now that they will have another guy ruling there, could be even worse. Some times they have some great limited editions like the Fatal Frame V and Bayonetta for Wii U, and some times, they forget that people want this kind of thing.First print edition with a phew bonus.I particularly like a lot when they give a CD and an art book.

I guess now I can saftly say that i'm good for the rest of the year (when it comes to huge games that can easily eat your life and almost all free time), unless of course Prime 4 and Fire Emblem for Switch are both planned for autumn-winter of this year.
