No Man's Sky coming to Xbox One

Some people scream about developers dropping support soon afternoon launch and not catering to their fans, etc... then you have a developer that has been delivering tons of fixes, improvements, new content, and new features for the last two years and suddenly it is a “So what? Why should I care?”... lol.

Your forum tag is completely appropriate.

I already own the special edition of NMS for PS4 (physical games ftw) and I will be getting the NEXT update for free on that platform. But I'll be ignoring the new update this time around (even though I love the game) and waiting until the Xbone version is available for $30 before upgrading and buying a second copy for the X. It's just a shame that the launch price is so high. I think the team could get nuch more traction by lauching at a lower price point on a brand new platform, considering how old and well known the game is. But we'll see I guess. Clearly, they're impressed with their efforts over the last year and the value of the new content. Consequently, my expectations are a lot higher than normal thanks to their aggressively ultra-high pricing on Xbox. Don't disappoint your dedicated fans, Sean. Hopefully the new update has a lot for single-player fans of the game. I couldn't careless about multiplayer.

Did I miss them announcing the Xbox One pricing?

All free too, including the upcoming Next update. And no microtransactions whatsoever.

No Man’s Sky is the game and Hello Games the developer gamers claim to want. Wish they’d act like it.

It's $49.99 on Amazon, which is $10 cheaper than I thought it'd be since it's still full price on Steam.

Some people are happy with a game with little to no changes charging full price and then this game with years worth of content and a big new multiplayer mode, long requested too, is problematic if it sells at $49... bah...

I think the price is reasonable.

Sorry dude lied and delivered a turd of a game. Him making a bunch of content that never comes close to the money he gained out of it for free. Because he got insanely scared when those gamers figured out he was full of crap.

Dude is a piece of garbage.

If he really cared about his audience and all his fans, he should have refunded everybody the money of all the copy's. then resell it after a year of work on it to deliver what he promised and see if people still wanted to buy into it.
Obviously he likes being rich on lies, then being poor and have morals. So he just ends up pushing those "free updates" that you already paid massively for 3 times over.

But keep supporting these clowns.

Maybe you could support mine game that costed me 1 million to create. once i got 60m on my bank i will give you "free content all day long". Oh yea my game can do everything. Don't worry if it doesn't on launch tho eventually in 30 years it will arrive and completely for free!

I call it the Tomb Raider effect. The only negative thing about No Mans Sky lately is that they are bringing it to the Xbox. If the Next update was announced without the Xbox announcement along side it then people would love the update. But they had to screw it all up by letting Xbox players join in on the fun.

The game actually wasn't a turd. It just wasn't finished.

Why is it a negative? It’s never a negative when you can get your game to more people. Why do you have to beat your chest like some fanboy and stomp the ground because gamers from another ecosystem have a chance to enjoy the game?

It makes no sense whatsoever, there is nothing negative about this decision by them.

To be fair you also have some Xbox fans now being positive about the game or at least open to it now that it is not an exclusive for PS4 anymore... what can you do :)?

I do not think it was a negative for him, but it might be for some people.

It is good if other players enjoy the game without having to purchase another console, but beside the monetary cost being upset at an exclusive game (was on PC already) being ported to another console is not that much different from being upset that you need to buy a competitor’s console to play the game you like (Why canot A buy an Xbox One to play game B? Why cannot C buy a PS4 to play game D?). So I can empathise although it can also be annoying yes.

Do you think running a studio for all this time and producing that content was free? It hardly sounds like it was something they never planned to do, but felt worried once they reached the airport with their pockets full of money and then started some quick side projects to give some token updates...

The game in its launch window (find many AAA games that do not receive patches in the first few weeks/months) was playable and fun for many gamers and showed promise they kept building upon.

A very very vocal minority’s shat on it since day -1, like they did over amplifying issues like with Driveclub, and some maybe even had hopes to cause the closure of the studio like it did with Evolution Studios. Does not mean the game was perfect, 10/10, but it was worth its price IMHO.

It was sarcasm my friend. I was making a point that people are really only being negative about it now because the game is coming to the Xbox, Most of the negativity has nothing to do with how people actually feel about the game itself.

It's easily my most played game this gen at over 250 hours, so it's excellent value if its your bag, and will probably appeal to a broader base with the expanded multiplayer. Also, based on the previous updates, there's going to be a lot of new content besides MP.

You're wrong here. People were overly hating on the game when it was console exclusive to the PS4. Some gamers just like to be mad at stuff they were never going to buy.

Gotta say, I'm getting pretty hyped for this. 4K on X one X is going to be incredible. Just hope the "next" update really comes with some big changes.

I am pre-ordering today. That inside Xbox vid sold me completely. It's nice to see that without the launch pressure and Sony's PR leaning on them, the devs have been able to really work this game into a complete form. Color me excited! Between this and Vermantide, Summer is shaping up alright.

They have to push that famous "this is what's coming in NEXT" blog post any day now. I don't think they wait till release day to tell us about the changes. Past updates were usually announced a week before the patch hit, only recently did they start the whole ARG thingy.

I put this on for the first time in months today. It's alright. The main thing that bothered me was the inventory system, but once you find a decent size ship and drop pods it's not a problem. Apart from that the only gripe I have is the planets all look the same after a while and there's not much point in exploring them. you got the ice one, the rocky one and the water one. I wish they'd hand made them instead of using the random system. Still, the game is good for kicking back and doing mindless shit for a while.

I don't know, the last time I played it every planet was more or less unique. I could've just been lucky with my solar system picks.

I hope they wipe the universe once again and add even more hardcore procedural generation.

Looks like XBox owners are feeling about No Man Sky the way Playstation owners will feel when they get PubG

Is it safe to say that we're finally going to get proper multiplayer? Multi-crew ships? That would be amazing!

You could join a space marines outfit and patrol areas/go down to planets for rescue missions and exterminate "bugs".

Set up trading out posts run by players. Lots of possibilities. I really enjoy the game. Can't wait to see what's next!

Yes it is safe to say.

https://www.nomanssky.com/2018/05/no-mans-sky-next-multiplayer-and-release-date/
Today we are letting people know that you’ll be able to play No Man’s Sky as a full multiplayer experience with your friends in NEXT. We wanted to share our new cover art too.

We are also announcing the release date. No Man’s Sky NEXT is coming as a free update to PC and PS4 on July 24th. Xbox One launches on July 24th.

We were delighted by the reaction to NEXT, even though we just shared the name so far, it means so much to see that people were already pumped about it. The reaction to coming to Xbox and weGame was really lovely too. I am excited for new players to be able to play such an expanded game from the start, as well as experienced players having a fresh experience.

We’ve been playtesting multiplayer for the last 6 months, and the game has evolved into a very new experience that we think the community will enjoy.

You’ll be able to explore the universe with a small group of friends, or bump into random travelers. You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive. Tiny shelters or complex colonies that you build as a team are shared for all players. Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies. Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race tracks and trails to share online.

That’s always been the potential I think everyone could see in what we were making, it’s been a lot of hard work, but thanks to the team and the community we are so glad to finally able to make it a reality.

Something I’ve learned is that I much prefer making games to talking about them. I avoid it as much as I can now, but I had to do my first interview in a couple of years with Inside Xbox to talk a little bit about NEXT, which you can see here:

This is an incredibly important update for us, but it’s also just another step in a longer journey, and we’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky in this way for the foreseeable future.

This will be our biggest update yet and we’re pumped to be bringing Xbox players along on the journey with us now too. The Xbox One launch of No Man’s Sky will include all 4 major updates (Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises and NEXT), along with dozens of smaller patches. 505 Games will distribute the physical Xbox One version worldwide.

Thank you so much,

Sean

Not if it’s still an unplayable mess when it gets there. You couldn’t pay me to play any more of it even on the X.

Bullshit.

Gameplay

One of many from these guys and others.

Not sure what you are playing, but I have 16 days playtime in. It can be rough at times, but not at all unplayable.

Yeah, unplayable is a bit of an exaggeration, but it is still pretty bad, even on my X. I'm hoping they will improve it, but I don't feel driven to play it because of all the jankyness.

This game give me Nausea
Same here, but played it on PC with fov set to 90 which fixed the problem for me. Every video and the PS4 version … well I couldn't watch/play because of the "motion sickness". But with the PC version this problem is fixable.

Well had my fun with the game on release (~30h), I knew what to expect of the game and was never hyped for it. but never really played it since then. It is just to repetitive overall.

what really disappoint me about the game was the misleading advertisement they used. that was very dishonest.

People are mad because they promised features, didn't deliver, and then went radio silent as if we wouldn't notice. Some people might say get over it. No sarcasm, I'm willing to do that, if the studio makes it right. Supporting the game instead of cutting and running is only praiseworthy if your standards are abysmally low. So I guess if Hello Games does it, we should praise them indeed.

When Hello Games comes out with a sincere communication about what the hell happened and why they didn't push back the release date to deliver what was promised, we can talk. Had they told consumers what they were actually getting instead of, you know, letting people be mislead for more sales, their names wouldn't be dirt. But they didn't, and people did and now they are shysters.

Did they make it right and I missed it? If not, their name is still mud to me and I doubt I'm the only one.

Having low standards isn't a crime. Keep enjoying it!

I will. The game is what it is. It has some warts, but is a blast to play, especially with friends. Maybe that's your problem with it? I have played worse games performance wise without the great funfactor that PubG has...

Yeah, unplayable is a bit of an exaggeration, but it is still pretty bad, even on my X. I'm hoping they will improve it, but I don't feel driven to play it because of all the jankyness.

The last real major issue I have with it is the d-sync that happens occasionally in populated areas. Bullets should be hitting, but aren't. It happens too often still. It runs really good on the X most of the time, but still needs major optimization. Not sure it will ever get to "perfect" given how the PC version has fared.

Completely the wrong thread for this too...

Full price for this is laughable and a slap in the face. The game is what, 2 years old?

Adding things that were promised in the beginning doesn't add value. It replaces it.

Nearly everything added was never promised at launch and neither was multiplayer.

Also it's not full price and has a ton of added content. Game is just a joy to play and I am going to double dip without reservation.

I've had my issues since the last update. Largely feeding growing trays and having to find materials to open stuff being my top gripes. I'm not looking forward to the multiplayer either but rather what other improvements, additions there are.

To be fair, I have hyped up in my mind all the potential changes coming in Next. It is possible I will be disappointed, but I'm staying positive at this point.

I've got a list as long as my arm of improvements and additions but I'm not in any way expecting them all, or even any of them. I basically just want to see improvements to the foundations of the game: better animal animations, better animal AI, more diversity in landscapes, more variety in buildings ... that sort of stuff will do me. I bought the game to explore so anything that makes exploration rewarding is what I'm looking for.

They have also advertised this as a heavy exploration game yet the last few updates did effectively nothing to improve exploration. I never asked for base building and I was livid when they locked crucial content behind doing the base building stuff (it‘s simply not something I want to do, I want to jump from planet to planet). Hope they improve on that aspect.

hope they don't reset the universe again and change all my favorite planets ;\

probably certain at this point but I hated that last time. thankfully my homebase arid moon mostly stayed the same (just became airless and lifeless and lost all the fauna... and smaller) but a lot of my other favorite planets changed pretty dramatically -- stuff like desert plans turning into toxic or radiation planets :(

I spent dozens of hours building my mining base specifcally on a planet with specific desert characteristics (e.g. colour, horizon, flora, etc) somehow lucked out with 2 huuuuuge emeril* (I keep calling it elerium from xcom lol) deposits literally right beside the base -- feet from all my farms haha

(/edit/ was trying just hyperlink but whether I insert link or then remove link or just put the URL it keeps embedding it as a video so ah well... not a big deal tho only worth clicking if you actually love NMS haha)

spent forever building a mother base inspired landing pad too (I originally wanted to make a sort of Mother Base platform but the game doesn't support enough building space to do that + have a big farm)

gonna be pretty annoyed (to the extent I may not even play the next update) if I lose too much... it would need to take a pretty massive update (e.g. a lot more than just MP) to justify that imo.
