First off I am not going to waste my time with the member who continues to ask but never answers questions in return. The Sony crossplay topic was a complete waste of time with him and he only answers partial questions, it was constant runaround with him talking like a lawyer. As for my initial response to EDMIX he has clearly shown his attitude to how I expressed myself to the way Sony markets its games way too early. "Too early? lol ok pal." He is scoffing at the idea I put forward was baseless even though it was pretty evident that what I said was true.

Then to top it all off he ends with this "That just doesn't sound like a real reason someone buys games, ie I hate Call Of Duty series, but I'll buy it if it releases the same day it was announced.......who is REALLY thinking this way?"

*snip*

I have no issue with your point of view on the topic itself, your original post, or with you ignoring another members post entirely. The issue is with how you have subsequently addressed members who commented on your post. You have escalated a difference of opinion into a personal attack without any cause, and when politely asked for that cause by another member, double posted a non-answer. You can do better than this. If a response rubs you the wrong way, you can address it as Schrödinger's cat did your own post, or ignore it. Do not escalate it with pettiness.

If cat wants to follow me around that's fine, but until he shows me the same courtesy and actually answers me directly instead of dancing around the subject then I see no reason continuing engaging. On the other hand if EDMIX has issues with my response then I will deal with it directly, I have no qualms with him. I just found his response to me as though he just brushed it aside as though it had no merit and came off as rather defensive. What I will not tolerate is herd behavior and having to tip-toe around any concerns one might have with the almighty Sony.

I can tell you that much of this is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak. The people who are most frustrated by perceived fanboys are fanboys themselves of an alternate platform. I see such complaints every day, and more often than not they are grounded in the receiving parties insecurities or personal preferences, and not in an unreasonable criticism.

For example, your post was negative to Sony. Are you an Xbox fanboy? Or is it just your opinion and it happens to be negative? Take care when thinking someone a fanboy lest your reaction labels you one. You don't need to tiptoe around any view on a platform, just address other members without personal insult, preferably respectfully. If you cannot manage that then do not address them at all. That is always a better option if you want to lash out.

..but until he shows me the same courtesy and actually answers me directly..
I feel I've been courteous towards you.
I have made a point of not answering your questions as they habitually distorted and misrepresented mine and other's statements rather than addressing them directly.
Our earlier exchange in this discussion serves as one example of this.
I find this to be a disingenuous line of discourse so do not promote it.

Have a nice day.

Why is my comment now high on your radar, just because I questioned Sony's current situation of no new games being talked about this year and only one last year because they have shown some titles far too early? My post was just so negative to Sony by showing facts while we ignore culprits like LastWord who seem to continually balance a fine line of what is and what should not be tolerated. Ask yourself, why did Shu come out and let it be known they are still making PS4 exclusives? It's because of exactly what I said earlier but now I'm an Xbox fanboy for explaining it even though I don't even own an Xbox and play primarily on the PC? Nice logic there. Hey, if we want to compare ourselves to N4G and run this site like that one then by all means go ahead.

Calm down and read my post again. I didn't call you an Xbox fanboy and have already said I had no issue with your original post. You are massively overreacting to a minor issue.

I guess any reasonable person will acknowledge that there are more games in development than the four games Sony showcased at E3. I mean we all knew that, but some folk were already rambling that this is all Sony had to show....So Shu was trying to re-iterate, when these four games ship PS4 is not done. We know there's dreams, concrete genie, bluepoint remaster and few others in the works through the rumor-mill; like Medievel and Syphon Filter....It has nothing to do with announcing games early, if anything it's the opposite, it's just that there are so many games in the pipeline SWWS has chosen to spread their reveals/trailers/gameplay-demos across many gameshows throughout the year. It's defintely not because of a lack of other titles on the horizon.

The year is only halfway done and there's Gamescom, PAX, TGS, Paris Games Week and PSX to come....There's even Comic-Con in a few days and Quake Con to a lesser degree....We're only in July.....

Good to hear about more exclusives even though I expected it. With the way things are going in the industry, I’m sure they are going to need those exclusives.

Exactly, things are really see-saw in this industry, but one thing that keeps on driving success is a bevy of good games, and I don't see that changing in any forseeable generation....

Sony did announce a number of games too soon though. As of 2015, I believe. This also was an issue at Gamescom/PGW.

This was caused by first party studios transitioning from PS3 to PS4 development (remember the delaystation period?). Those early delays propagated into subsequent dev cycles, with the end result of most games coming out 3 to 4 years into the current generation.

To be fair to them, they tried to slow down on new announcements for the last couple of years, which is a wise move.
At some point, you have give time to catch up. Might as well do it while you're ahead.

Well let's hope this is a sign they are going to have a strong 1st party line-up for the PS5 because the PS3 and PS4 did not. This is why I never buy a system based on good faith.

The PS3 and PS4 both had strong first-party lineups, or are you referring to the launch titles of the system?

Feel better now? This is a reflection of their E3 shows and this years was terrible and like last year hardly anything was announced we didn't already know about. That's what happens when you show the games so early. The other problem Sony has is they do too many shows per year which kind of takes away the suspense of things like E3. That does not mean I hate Sony or hate their games or am clueless why they sold 80 million systems. My gosh you take things personal, nobody is attacking your plastic toy.

"This is a reflection of their E3 shows and this years was terrible and like last year hardly anything was announced we didn't already know about "

So you mad they didn't announce anything new, but you also mad that they are announcing stuff....ok. Have fun with that.

"Sony has is they do too many shows per year which kind of takes away the suspense of things like E3" And? Sony's job is to deliver games, not to sell E3 tickets. So I don't buy systems based on "E3", I buy it based on games. Red Dead 2 barely any footage at E3....do you see me crying? Do you see me not buying Red Dead 2 because of this or? So you game for E3 or for fun? So Sony does many shows, cause they have many games, not really an issue even remotely.

Sony also has many games in development ie this thread topic, they man just stated "MORE PS4 exclusives in development" ie E3 is NOT the only trade show in existance. They used E3 this year to talk in depth about what they already had in store for the future, this year, next year and beyond. Like it or not, people are buying PS4's for games, not for release dates...I can't play a release date buddy, but I can play an actual game. So when they announce a game is irrelevant to me, the fact that it EXIST is good enough for me. I play games for fun, not based on when they released based on announcement.

Non-issue.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been announced years ago, guess you won't buy that and no hope for that team huh? smh

" I questioned Sony's current situation of no new games being talked about this year "

Except that is just about E3, E3 is not the only trade show that exist, The Last Of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima and MediEvil and many more got announced else where. So your issue is with Sony and E3, which I don't even fully understand the relevance as.....well do you work for E3? Does it being announced at E3 change something for you or? Help me understand why "no new games being talked about this year" seems to only link to E3, we still have more months left in the year and Sony clearly has not just left their only announcements for 1 trade show.

So if they tell you about something new, you complain ie "too soon"

If they don't at E3!!! "no new games being talked about".

So I'd say wait until the end of the year to make that post bud as evidence shows otherwise. They have enough studios to actually announce something new every year as they have been doing. So this weird idea that they run out of games or something doesn't make sense. The stuff they announced in 2013/2014 has released, thus they will just wait til 2016/2017 to announce those sequels or games by those teams and keep refreshing that cycle ie 2015/2016 game releases, those studios likely are getting announcements for more projects some time around 2018/2019. So Knack coming out at launch, then other games coming out the next year and so on allow for the team to work on Knack 2 and then announce it and the cycle continues.

Don't think its true? Look at the announcements if you think this theory is false as you seem to think Sony is 1 team that can only make 1 game or something.

Released 2013 Knack, Killzone
Announced 2013 Infamous Second Son, Drive Clue
Released 2014 Infamous Second Son, Drive Club
Announced 2014 Bloodborne , Uncharted 4
Released 2015 Bloodborne, Gravity Rush
Announced 2015 Horizon Zero Dawn,
Released 2016 The Last Guardian
Announced 2016 God Of War, Days Gone, Spider Man
Released 2017 Horizon Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush 2, GT Sport
Announced 2017 Ghost of Tsushima , Concrete Genie
Released 2018 God Of War, Spider Man

Announced 2018 ....yet to be announced as we still have Paris Games Week, Gamescom, TGS and PSX

So what does this tell you about what Sony has been able to do? This is LIGHT, this is literally just listing a few examples, but they have enough teams to the point where they can rotate releases and announcements yearly like clock work. So the teams that got releases in 2015 or 2016 might have something ready to announce this year or when Sony feels like it, but the games coming out next year have been games announced years ago, thus....they can have yearly AAA releases and YEARLY AAA announcements. Its not a either or as Sony is not 1 team, they are not 1 person, it is a stable of studios, thus they've been able to achieve this perfect balance of releases and announcements like clock work. This is not an accident, its not coincidence, I'd argue Sony has been setting their teams up for this since LAST GEN, its not a accident that Horizon Zero Dawn has been in development since 2011. You may not see this, I get it, but as someone that reads lots of news and sees those patterns, the one thing Sony doesn't lack, is games, they also don't lack announcements and they clearly don't lack sales. They set themselves up for this type of perfect set up. So by the time you get The Last Of Us 2 or Death Stranding, guess what? Naughty Dog's second team has a game coming, Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is coming, Gravity Rush 3 and so forth. If you think they've some how just run out of games as if 1 person is making all their games, you haven't been paying attention to their teams, releases and announcements.

Do you really think PD is just doing nothing and not working on GT7? lol really?

And yet some wondered why I responded the way I did. Now I am supposedly mad and crying because of pointing out how Sony has overlapped the same games for years, which is why this year and last E3 point to why we hardly get any new surprises now. Nobody is suggesting Sony doesn't deliver. Every year they have great games. This is about how it takes years for them to come out and why announcing games early on has led them to trying something different at this years E3, focus now on games we already know. Which is also a reflection of last year with really only Ghost of Tsushima a new title we hadn't heard of before. Now Shu has to tell us there's more but I don't expect any big titles. Those are likely being worked on for the PS5 now.

" I questioned Sony's current situation of no new games being talked about this year "

This isn't checkers, this is chess.

This isn't checkers or chess, this is a game system. Nothing more nothing less. Don't even get me started with GT7, that is a team that is in desperate need of a project manager who can focus on better time management. Maybe in year 4 we will finally understand what Death Stranding actually is, and in 2020 PD will announce GT7. E3 is also by far the biggest game show there is for announcing things. You are missing the whole point of this my friend and that is Shu would not have to come out and explain things if they didn't come across as winding down and preparing for next gen and recycling the same games that were announced prior. Which is only compounded by too many shows they do per year.. Once again they leave all this up to their most loyal fans to explain each and every time, but I guess when you have fans who almost literally pass out after announcing FFVII Remake or Shenmue 3 at E3 speaks volumes of just how passionate they are. No wonder they can tease things for years and years. Sony also knows they will always be there even when they do mess up from time to time, vehemently defending any business decision they encounter..

2018 E3,
Days Gone was announced at E3 in 2016 - Releases in 2019
Spiderman announced at E3 2016 - releases this year 2018
Ghost of Tsushima announced at Paris 2017 - No release date 2019 at the earliest
The Last of Us 2 announced in 2016 - No release date 2019 at the earliest
Death Stranding announced at E3 2016 - No release date 2019 at the earliest
Dreams was teased in 2014 - No release date 2019 at the earliest

So it looks like Sony on average likes to announce games 3 years before shipping. Maybe they will show a new big game in Paris this year but I doubt it since the PS5 is likely to ship within 2 years. Personally I think what Shu is talking about are smaller titles and maybe some more PSVR games.
