trump / putin News conference

What I found most sad (embarrassing), just with a quick observation, is that Russian journalists were actually asking legitimate and contextual questions about the oil pipelines, Syria, etc., where as the American journalists continue to be an embarrassment and focus every question on this collusion shit.

Best bit is when Putin more or less confirmed the existance of the pee-pee tape and the room burst out laughing!

It is pretty scary that the far left has people so conditioned that Russia is the numero uno enemy... to the brink of just being short of them shouting "WAR!"

It is the modern problem of the west - they are too preoccupied with the looks. Like "who cares about oil, Syria, pipelines...after all it is not OUR problems." or something like this.
It seems the west currently stuck in Cold War mentality.

But it kinda funny that every centuru USA parties switch their ideology - last century was about republicans vs ussr, now democrats vs russia.

I didn't get to watch the conference, so I'm playing catch up here.

Is it true Trump started criticizing Mueller and brought up Hillary's emails? Did he do that on his own, or was it because of the questioning? Either way... :(

And Putin declaring the that the Cold War is over....oh boy. The Democrats are going to have a field day with this one.

How is he still talking about the election in between denuclearization questions.

How awks is it that he refers to putin as "the president"

That is how you control the masses, fear, division, and confusion. It is a "controlled chaos".

I'm seeing some really hysterical reactions to this. Was it really that bad or is trump derangement syndrome fucking with peoples critical thinking?

It was so bad. Putin was able to size up Trump as the weakest leader in US history and right now is invading Crimea with plans to annex it.

I don’t get into the whole Trump is a traitor business, but damn, that presser was incredible. We all know he’s incredibly self-serving, but that was borderline disgusting.

There is that word WAR again from them. Goodness, it is almost like they want to invite mushroom clouds in their back yards.

That's modern politics for you.

Was it really that bad

No.

or is trump derangement syndrome fucking with peoples critical thinking?

This is always the answer.

"It does not matter what he said, what matters is what WE tell you he meant, and what you should think he meant."

Pretty much. Just ignore the peanut gallery.

Thought this was interesting:

Let's see if the MSM is willing to investigate it.

Holy sh*t, I don’t say this lightly but we are definitely at the point of Civil War.

Putin just stated that Americans who may have gotten funds legally, but were earned illegally in Russia should be extradited to Russia for crimes against Russia. Depending on who and what these claims are, and if Trump we’re to agree to those terms that could spark a true Civil War... yikes.

The significance is that is if Russia claims political opponents of Trump are/have committed crimes against the Russian state they could be sent to a Russian jail. It’s unbelievably terrifying.

Didn't watch the conference, but even Ben Shapiro, the most conservative guy out there said this was a bad look for Trump.

He’s not the only one. GOP members are rebuking it in record numbers ex-CIA chief called it treasonous and told top Trump admins they should all resign in protest of this. This hasn’t even fully exploded yet, but it’s already being condemned left and right.

You must not follow or know anything about Ben Shapiro except that he is very conservative.

Ben HATES trump. He has since the RNC primaries. And he has never come round on it. He is one of the most vocal Never Trumpers.

Well if the ex CIA (aka current CIA) says it was bad than it was definitely good.

Trump has caused people to buy in and promote CIA propaganda. It’s nuts.

Initial gut reaction to what I've seen(not much I'm at work) is everything is being blown out of proportions massively. What was said out and in the open is the least important part of the meeting that happened today. The coming weeks and months will tell whether this was a good and effective strategy or just a waste of effort.

While there is sure to be hyperbole, what exactly was blown out of proportion?

If you honestly believe this wasn't a complete embarrassment for the US there is no hope for you. This is one of the most stunning news events between two leaders in modern history. If Trump is not in Putin's pocket, then he is a complete feckless coward and moron after his lack of criticism of Putin, and failure to back the entire US intelligence groups.

I mean, I watch the Ben Shapiro show 4 or 5 times a week, so I know Ben's opinion on Trump pretty well. He didn't vote for him in the election and his stance is "I will praise him when he does something good and condemn him when he does something bad" . Which he's been pretty consistent on.

Reading the article he just wrote at the Daily Wire though is probably the most critical of Trump he's been, even more critical of his tariff/ trade policy.

As far as I heard, Putin agreed to continue transit gas through Ukraine and it means that Ukranian and Syrian wars were useless for Russia. Sad.

Treason, collusion, the usual buzzwords.

Russia is the big bad evil enemy, yet Germany is spending Billions for Russian gas. So I guess the Germans should be the American's enemies now to? Or maybe Putin had Merkel elected to get that sweet sweet pipeline money?

Russia is the big bad enemy, except when they do business with EU states.

While there were a few insults thrown in, he stuck up for Trump on the last episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, and did so in an environment I wouldn't call "friendly to conservatives."

The little that I've seen so far of this conference doesn't seem very encouraging.

Yes hyperbole a bounds but it’s not an exaggeration to say that even many government officials are reacting poorly to this press conference.

This says it best:

The news cycle suggests Trump has committed treason this morning. The reality is the guy is incapable of letting go of his ego which remains offended that people accuse him of cheating to win the presidency, and spent too much time airing his gripes with the investigation in the wrong forum for that stuff. While I personally agree with at least one issues he raised, including that its damn suspicious for the DNC to not tender their server for direct analysis at the time, Trump's timing could not have been worse. What he should have said is there is reason for the US government to believe Russian's were involved and the government sanctioned it, but Putin denies it, and this summit is about moving forward on areas of mutual interest rather than calling each other a liar on the world stage while accomplishing nothing. Absolutely dumb for Trump to allow himself to get baited (and/or look for an opportunity) to discuss issues regarding hacking in 2016 when there remains a war in Syria, etc., but he did and has no one to blame but himself. I did not, however, see any impeachment material like so many rags are suggesting and have suggested since 11/10/16.

Edit: As an aside, anyone cheering the expected carousal of R's denouncing Trump should check the history books. Its Monday morning. This happens all the time. They see anti-Trump headlines, worry that the masses will agree with them, say things against him, and either change their mind or go quiet when the smoke clears and they realize the R base doesn't really care that much about what the media wants them to care about. Same thing will happen here.

To be fair, that pipeline deal has been criticized to hell and back. Here's a nice read up of it, if you have a chance.

Yeah lets go with that. Wouldnt want to make Russia look bad eh. After all they are the only allies 45 has left.

Yeah, let's just keep them forever enemies, that always worked out well.

Has nothing to do with looking bad, couldn't care less how they look, but the whole saying everything just short of "Bomb them, WAR!" by the left talking points and followers is more scary.

I’m not even against meeting with Russia or improving relations, but this was absolutely not the way to do, especially when our domestic intelligence agencies are actively under attack and have men and women who have dedicated and committed their lives to protecting it.

This was undeniably weak. The fact that we’ve even gone so far as to suggest mutual extradition policy is terrifying. Russia is not an official enemy but it’s not an ally either. Let’s not act like we have a long history of being able to trust Russia’s words while we can’t trust our allies or domestic intelligence.

None of this makes sense given the climate we are in:
Can’t trust domestically training Americans.
Can’t trust decades of ally relationships.

Can trust words of Putin.
Can trust words of NK which we actually have an active legal war with. That’s why this is absurd.

Thanks for the link a good read.

But it seems like most of the criticism is more about diversifying electricity and eastern EU states losing out on gas transit fees. The only criticism in this article in regards to evil Russia is ironically from Trump, the guy who is in Russia's pocket apparently LOL.

Why is it controversial?

EU countries: The planned route bypasses central and eastern European countries such as Slovakia and Poland, leaving them without a chance to collect lucrative gas transit fees. Moreover, with Russia having means to directly deliver gas to its most important buyer, Germany, it would be much easier for the Russian government to shut off existing pipelines leading through Eastern Europe.

The project also runs contrary to Brussels' efforts to wean Europe off Russian gas. In April 2018, the EU Commission refused to back the project, saying it did not contribute to the EU goals of diversifying the gas supplies. Separately, environmentalists claim the pipeline would be harmful for the flora and fauna of the Baltic Sea.

Ukraine: Russia could easily cut off gas supplies to Ukraine in order to put pressure on Kyiv. Ukraine is making about $2 billion (€1.7) on gas transit fees per year, making it a key source of income for the country. Whenever Russia closed the valves in recent years, the lack of sales hurt both Gazprom and its buyers in rich, Western European countries, making all sides interested in overcoming the crisis.

The United States: On the global stage, critics accuse Berlin of ignoring the interests of its allies by filling Russia's coffers at the time of a diplomatic conflict. US President Donald Trump slammed Berlinin July 2018, saying it was "captive to Russia" due to its energy policy. "Pipeline dollars to Russia are not acceptable!" he tweeted.

I don't really see anyone saying Russia is the big bad don't buy energy from them at least in the article.
