Yeah I thought with the lack of news/leaks we might not see it this year. I'm still hopeful for next year with some early access stuff this year (Holiday) or early next year.

That would be better than my current expectations. I'm really bummed. Going on 3 years and all they can give us is an engine demo. Enough with the coy crap already. Just say hey this isn't coming out until 2020 - sorry to disappoint. It has literally killed my interest in the halo series right now
yes my interest will come back
. It is what it is though, so whatever lol.

I'm finally recuperating over my initial disappointment that Halo Infinite is still a year or two from being released. I was reading the recent E3 udpate on halowaypoint from June 10th. It's nothing new, but some tidbits that I found interesting from the article.
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/our-journey-begins

The Slipspace Engine demo shown at the E3 2018 briefing is the culmination of years of work and is infused with the passion of hundreds of people here at 343 Industries. When we started this project, the team’s vision for the game was ambitious – so much so that we knew we had to build new tech to fully realize our goals for Halo Infinite. The E3 demo showcases some of the exciting potential of this technology – everything you see is running in-engine.
I know waiting can be hard for folks who are excited for more info about the game. We are taking the time we need to make the right game and are making changes to how we approach things this time around. The goal of the entire 343 Industries team is to make a great Halo game for our fans that also invites new players into our franchise. We will have some new and unexpected directions to take folks in and I believe the way we achieve that is to build alongside our community, iterating and improving as we go.
In the future, you will be able to join early flighting programs that will let members of the community play the game with us, and give direct feedback, much like the current Insider flighting program for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It will take some time for us to be ready to kick those flighting events off, but when we do they will start small and grow along the way.

It sounds like the engine is pretty special and, I agree that the demo looked good, but I was and still am really bummed that the game is not coming out in the near future. I'll be interested in hearing about the flighting programs to test the game down the road. For now I wait.

Kind of bored. Hoping for another community update from 343 soon. In the meantime, I'm gonna continue posting old stuff from e3, even though everyone has probably already seen it. Here's the Halo Infinite reveal trailer:

Goddamn, Halo Infinite looks insane.
I hope the release date is not far away.
Sadly I think it is very far away. We either have roughly a year for a 2019 release in November - which I think is highly unlikely now - or a 2020 release coinciding with the launch of the next xbox console. The latter makes more sense given how absolutely little they've shown Halo Infinite. I was fully convinced E3 would be a Halo 6 blowout and instead we got a new engine tease with nothing else to go on.

I was actually really looking forward to seeing some game play to know what the physics and controls will be like. Is 343 following Halo 5's model or toning the abilities down? I went and played some team slayer in TMCC last night and was estatic that Halo CE was voted for 4 out of the 5 games I played.. It's slow as far as movement is concerned, but man the feel of firing away with the pistol and the aiming was top notch. I wasn't worrying sprinting or using equipment. Pretty straight forward stuff.

The one game that wasn't Halo CE was Halo 2 on lockout. Good map, but not starting with an effective starting weapon was a pain and the other team had locked down the sniper rifle and it reminded me of how awfully over powered the power weapons are in Halo 2-5. In CE I legit don't mind running around without a power weapon. If I'm able to grab one great, but the balance is pretty fantastic. That is if you're not someone that cries about how strong the pistol is - /eyeroll.

Halo 5 is by far the most disappointing halo to date and it has almost killed the franchise for me. No I'm not trolling, I am a huge and long time halo fan I own ever single game and had beaten every single halo game multiple time. I love Halo. As a company I have very little faith in 343 to deliver for Halo Infinite. All we have seen people is a tech demo.

I feel like the campaign for Halo 5 disappointed a lot of people, if not most, but the matchmaking was well received and viewed as a step in the right direction over Reach, and Halo 4. For me, the most disappointing Halo is a toss between halo 3 and Reach. Halo 3 hurts my brain and Reach hurts my soul. I will never forgive Halo 3 BR spread and Halo Reach bloom. And then throwing abilities into Reach and Halo 4 was just extra salt in the wound. I like halo 5 matchmaking, but would appreciate the abilities/controls to be toned down/simplified. I'd love for sprint to be tossed out the window and have the movement return back to halo 1-3 style. keep abilities as a pickup only. #HireJuices

Halo 3 is my favorite as far as MP goes. So much so I consider it near perfect. I won't deny that Halo 5 arena gameplay is pretty darn good and the controls are tight as ever but the real problem for me is that it just dosen't feel like Halo both gameplay and art design.

1. The game doesn't even look like halo any more what the hell happen to the art design?
2. The game doesn't sound like Halo, they have redesigned every sound in the game even something as Iconic as the energy sword. Im not saying not to update it but it just sounds indistinguishable now. Same goes for the music.
3. The charm and humor seem to be gone where were all of the classic arcade modes at launch? I know they implemented them later but they should have been there at release.
4. No local co-op. Halo was particularly built on couch co-op and some of my most fond memories were local co-op with friends and family.
5. Terrible SP that ruined Cortana
6. I don't think Warzone was a good mode it just boiled down to both teams trying to take the middle base for almost the entire match.
7. No dedicated BTB developer made maps. I know the community made some good ones but the graphics in forge look fugly. Community made maps are supposed to be a compliment not a replacement. BTB is my favorite mode in Halo so this one hit me hard.

I could go on but I would just be wasting me time. I'm looking forward to playing the MCC update but I wont give them a pass for shipping a broken game for 4 years.

I did enjoy Halo Wars 2 so I guess theirs that. All in all I will wait till the game comes out and wait for community feedback to decide if I want to give 343 another chance.

Eveybody the MCC update is finally live. However you will have to re-download the entire game but if you wait to "ready to start" you can decide which halos you want to download.

I'm at work, but I will get the download started tomorrow.

Oh and you are absolutely right about many of the problems with Halo 5. The art style has changed a lot, but that's a minor gripe for me as long as the game plays well. Music in Halo has never been the same ever since Marty left. Would be amazing if they announced he was truly coming back for Halo Infinite. No local-coop is being fixed with the next halo and 343 has made it available with the Master Chief Collection update thankfully. Warzone I enjoyed, but it was a mistake to put BTB on the back burner. It was essentially a forge playlist and wasn't taken care of or maintained properly. BTB needs to be as big of a focus as Warzone in Infinite. 343 can do both and they should do both. And yeah, the lack of good maps in Halo 5 was a big loss. I remember getting excited about certain maps when they would come up in Halo 2 and even Halo 3. I never get excited for any of the maps in Halo 5. Shoot, there were even maps in Halo Reach that i really liked lol. But it's important to keep things fresh and not simply with a redesign of an already existing map. these are all easy fixes that 343 can remedy for Halo Infinite. I hope they work some serious magic.

So I played Halo 5 some the last two nights, mainly warzone assault. It was fun, but my aim was way off. I was trying to get enough reqs to purchase the classic helmet pack only to realize that it had already disappeared from the menu lol. Maybe it will come back another time.

They've been switching up the packs pretty consistently. Heck, they'll probably have some kind of anniversary special.

I really hope the feat system of unlocking armor comes back for Infinite though. Damn that was fun to unlock that stuff.

What was the feat system? I don't even remember lol.

Ah, yeah I wasn't sure what to call it. Back in the days of Halo 3, ya had to earn your armor through feats of skill... or round up some buddies and cheese that shit lol

I think combining that with Halo Reach's credit system would be the best way to handle armor. There would be a few legendary armor pieces that you need to unlock through some test of skill and then the rest could be bought via credits.

Admittedly, that feels like a pipe dream these days considering how micro transactions have plagued the market.

Ya know, I really hope they bring back the population counters. I feel like 343 made a short sighted decision getting rid of it.

Yeah people shit on 343 about the player count being lower than any other Halo, but population count also helps people know if they should bother jumping into a playlist. It helps people get an idea of when the best time to jump on and play is.

Now I have to hope to God that the playlist I'm jumping into isn't just dead and I'm wasting my time.

Please bring that beautiful thing back 343. I know you don't come here anymore but I'm projecting my opinion chi as hard as I can.

They are too embarrassed to put that up because they know hardly anyone plays their halo games.

And how!

If they had the right attitude about it, they could spin that shit to help revive the community. It doesn't have to be a monument to all of their sins so to speak.

The issue I've had with 343 since the get go is their unwillingness to own up to their mistakes (at least if it is about their "vision"). Seems they're turning around though. I'd like to see them succeed.

I just don’t like their arrogance. They want to make halo the way they want it to be and hardly care what the fans say and it’s not even their franchise. At least if it was bungie I could say that the did technically create the IP so they could do what they want with it. “We hired people who hated Halo” Frank O Connor

Now that the Halo 5 Halo Championship Series is over, does anyone know if Req Packs will be given away through the Grassroots events? I just finished all of the items attainable through Bronze/Silver packs, but obviously I have a ways to go with Gold packs. The HCS events were awesome for attaining gold and platinum packs.

Also, currently Platinum packs are for sale with Req points, better to buy Platinums or Golds?

I love the idea* of a population counter returning. Before Match Composer was released for TMCC, I'd look for a game in the HCE playlist for a few minutes and then give up, knowing the population wasn't there. In Halo 5, i'd look for warzone assault games. If matches didn't come up within a few minutes, I knew the playlist was empty.

Get the gold packs. You're guaranteed only 2 permanent unlocks while platinum packs gurantee 3, but at double the price. So for the cost of a single platinum pack you can get 2 gold packs with 4 permanent unlocks instead of only 3.

I feel ya dude. Hiring people who didn't play the series makes enough sense but... why people who hate it unless your goal is to bring in an audience from a different type of game? Eck.... 343 has plenty of talent and passion. Halo 5's updates have been a great example of that. It's just that "It's OUR vision" attitude, with no fucks given. C'moooooon.

I'd say they're turning the ship around though. I just downloaded the MCC again and played a few matches with almost no waiting time between. It felt like I was playing Halo in its heyday (never knew it was spelled that way, weird). Fingers crossed things keep going this way.

That E3 trailer was pretty sweet 343; don't fuck this up!

lol That empty search screen is down right depressing man. I feel like even when a player count is really low, just being able to SEE that there are people around is kinda sweet. It fosters that sense of community around the game.

If any of you guys want to clown around sometime on the MCC, I'm game.

I want it back for comparison reasons. I almost feel like after the 4k update, many people migrated back to MCC. And I wonder if that’s true or just a placebo effect. Granted I haven’t played 5 in months (and honestly I have no current interest in redownloading it)

And I know this is the halo 5 OT but anyone else who complete the cross game flood playlist feel it kind of weird of the 7 levels they chose, they opted for gravemind over something like halo from h3 or even heretic. At least those levels have flood in them...

Halo 3 is going through quite a renaissance as of the last week or two. My twitter timeline is being flooded with former pros returning to the game after the recent 2v2 tournament.

We really ought to see if we can revive HaloGAF. Halo 5 being the OT kinda gives off the wrong idea I think.

As far as the MCC goes, I've been getting consistent matches over the past few days in every playlist (with a little bit of wait time depending on the time of day) so I'm inclined to think Halo really is #weback.

Just spirit balling here but I think that 343 is going to really return to the Halo roots with Infinite. Albeit with some stuff like Spartan Abilities still attached. A lot of the fan base has been begging them to have more faith in Halo's foundation since Halo 4, and it seems 343 might finally be giving that a fair shot. I'm probably just being optimistic though and we're about to get butt rushed by microtransactions wielding purple dragon dodongos.

Agreed. I don't think people are here to talk about Halo 5 anymore. It's basically TMCC and Infinite talk from here on out. I would love to have the Halogaf thread resurrected. I went to the gym today because I'm getting fat. While I was on an elliptical I watched some of the Halo 3 tourney going on - is that live or was it a replay? As much as I hate Halo 3, it was great to see Flamesword back in action. He's the only reason i started watching competitive halo in the first place. Str8 Rippin lost a game against Status Quo in a game of KotH on Construct, but rebounded with a CTF win on Pit and a Slayer win on Narrows. It was fun listening to the crowd screams in the background every time some big play happened.

Switching topics, I've been playing almost entirely all Halo CE social slayer in TMCC. It has been an absolute blast. I only add Halo 2/2A and H4 when the time between games slows down.
Thread is making me reinstall MCC. And holy crap is it a behemoth of a download.
Yeah it's a lot, but after the initial download, you can select what you want and don't want to download. So you can exclude all the campaigns and or the individual multiplayer downloads for CE-4. H2A and H4 are the biggest offenders. If you only do Halo CE, 2, and 3 multiplayer it's much quicker.

Send friend requests to ChiefEdiri on XBL. Very rusty in all Halos, so I need practice.

Act normal or be yourself too, I want to enjoy the experiences as much as you do.

I don't have a head set, but i'll add you. I'm not on all the time. I work both nights and days, so when i switch from days back to nights, I usually try and switch my schedule over by staying up the night before. That's when i'm online the most. I play mostly CE.
