And its viewed the same way by plenty of other people as well. It also doesn't help that those arguments are EXTREMELY similar to the arguments that were used in the civil rights era to defend segregation.

If I could interject about the whole immigration bit, alot of the concerns over the current European migrant crisis stems from the fact that they are migrating here from these countries undocumented and those countries have been hotbeds of islamic extremeism. There is no way to vet if these folks really are here to escape war, or to cause terrorism. Then there is the economic side of the argument where you have thousands and thousands of new welfare recipients straining these European economies. It has nothing to do with their race and everything to do with religious extremism and economic concerns.

Yeah, you should just have everyone's votes be worth one vote, then you count said votes and the higher number wins! It might be a crazy enough idea to work.

The imbalance of big city population vs. rural, especially "sanctuary cities", is exactly why it is important that the electoral college still exists.

It is far easier to manipulate a "popularity" voting system than it is the electoral college.

The point of the electoral college is to prevent the following situation from happening- Two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner.

By handing ultimate authority away from biased parties, it prevents the strong from eating the weak. If it works is a whole different debate.

There are perfectly rational reasons to be against uncontrolled mass migrations of people from different cultures.

In fact, in all of human history, how countries are conquered was not by warfare, but by transferring groups of people into occupied territory, and then becoming the new demographic majority.

It happened in the Americas with the pilgrims and the Indians. It happened in Africa with the Bantus and Khoisan. It's happening now in Asia, with the Israelis in Palestine or Chinese in Tibet.

Europe is no different, except Europeans were there first.
