Starting October 16th, the first two Destiny 2 expansions will be included with Forsaken

Bungie has announced that starting on October 16th, the first two Destiny 2 expansions will be included with Forsaken. If you wanted to play Forsaken and were forced to pay $20 for the two expansions before you could do so, Bungie has something for you.

Is it a refund for the expansions? No.

Is it a discount on the price of the upcoming season pass? No.

Is it an exclusive emblem, a shader, two exotic emotes, and some consumables? Yes, that's what it is!

I guess this is always part of buying games at launch, but it feels a bit worse knowing that I was forced to pay for content I didn't want in the first place. Though I am happy to say that the expansions and Forsaken as a package are still definitely worth the 60 dollars I paid. The game is better than ever, and that's including Destiny 1, IMO.

So good news if you waited. Also good news if you bought the first season pass months ago because you wanted to play that content at launch. Not so good news for those of us who specifically had to buy the expansions before we could play Forsaken.

Best Bungie game ever. So if you have vanilla only you get year 1s dlc for free. Still buy legendary edition if you don’t have the free ps plus version.

Destiny is 60$ every year for new entrants. Hardcore players pay 80 - 100 for entire year and season pass. About the norm.

Bought fucking time they go to a subscription model tho

Should of been this way all along no?

Absolutely it should have. In comparison, playing through the first two DLCs felt like a chore. The new content is much better. The second of the first two DLCs is a fair bit better than the first, though.

Forsaken is pretty awesome. I'm enjoying myself. It was on the spendy side, though. I still prefer Destiny 1 Crucible over Destiny 2 Crucible, but everything else in Forsaken is great

You actually want the game to have a subscription model? Like, every months like in MMOs?
That's a definitive no for me, I always avoided games with that, you just feel forced to play the game when it's like that, not sure why someone would actually ask for that.

I, like, purchased the first two expansions just two days ago...

well, doesn't really help, because the 2 prior expansion were crap but you must play them to get to the new campaign missions.
What do we learn with this, never buy a bungie game, before its successor is out, else you pay double for addons.

No, you don't have to play any of the older campaigns if you don't want to. When you buy Forsaken, you are given an item that instantly finishes the story upto Forsaken and boosts your character's light level high enough so that you can start the new campaign.

and how often can you use this item? Once or for every character.

Once per account, not once per character. Doing so also skips the first two DLCs in their entirety. You get a warning beforehand, and then you're never able to play those story missions with that character, aside from them showing up as the daily story mission or whatever, which won't be in the same order and won't make any sense plot-wise.

So in the past not only were you forced to pay extra for content you didn't want, in order to play content that you did want, but choosing to skip it meant never seeing story content that you were forced to buy. To say it was / is a poor way of handling the situation would be charitable.

The expansions costs €60?

Both of the first two smaller DLC expansions were $10 each, or $20 for both, at least shortly before the Forsaken update was released. The Forsaken DLC itself was $40, and requires the first two expansions before it can be played.

I'd be calling Sony or Microsoft. I'd at least be worth a try. It's not even like a refund at that point, because everyone will have the same content for free in less than a week from now. That as opposed to buying a game and getting a refund, but Sony or Microsoft not having any way of removing the game from your account, which is obviously something they they probably shouldn't do very often.
