I always wanted a full gen one remake and this seems to check off all the boxes outside of the dumbed down gameplay and catch features.

Shit, kept restarting for a female Eevee, before looking around and seeing someone suggest gender was decided in the opening.
Tired to start over by deleting the save and accidentally wiped the game and have to redownload. I can't wait the 40 minutes to download and spend another 40 trying to get a female; I have to sleep. Damnit. Going to bed. -_-

... why does that even matter? I thought the only reason male and female versions exist in Pokemon was for mating and getting Pokemon from that?

I was not expecting good reviews and i was not expecting to buy this, but i recently beat Read Dead and i have a gap till Smash, so i bit the bullet.
I hope to not regret this, but considering that the only pokemon i really played was red, this should be nostalgic enough and i should not notice too much how many mechanics are missing from the most current games in the series.
I don`t wanna put too much expectations on it, but i hope this game will re-ignite my interest in the series.

Yup. No Pro Controller support, no buy. It’s a rule that I follow for Switch releases with zero exceptions. I would’ve loved to have bought Super Mario Party, but I refuse to play it with the inferior/shitty JoyCon controller. Same goes for Pokémon here.

So Sabrina’s gym is gated off at first. The requirement being you need a level 45 mon to enter it. Though datamine shows the highest level out of sabrina’s mon is level 44, with most of them being 43.
So you have to OVER LEVEL Sabrina to enter her gym.

Doesnt make sense. The secodn gym I did required me to have one pokemon lvl 15 and had 2 lvl 18 pokemons for the leader.
They are the worst part of the original pokemon for me.

What is the point of a gym leader then?
The gym leader is supposed to gate you from using higher level Pokemon and have HMs to access other areas.

I can't wait to dig into this! I need to wait for it to arrive tomorrow and it's making me all giddy with anticipation!
I'm far more interested in the next full Pokemon game but this is a cool stepping stone from handheld to the larger console-like market with the Switch. I grew up with this stuff so I'm probably the exact audience this is aimed at from a nostalgia point of view~

It's like lvl 20 IIRC when they go crazy and you cant control them. I dont know if that is changed to only traded pokemon.

Female Eevee has a heart shaped pattern on the tail. I also prefer cute Pokemon, and don't want to put ribbons or the like on a male pokemon.
May not matter to some, but it does to me.

There's a visual difference with Eevee now? I see after looking it up, it's like a flower that will appear as a heat fomr the side. Oh man, now I'm really going to want a female one.

Yeah, looks cute and it made it easy to name (Kokoro). Just remember the gender's decided in the opening, when Eevee first pops up on screen.

Its funny. As a 10 y/o I beat yellow with two underleveled pokemon and now they want me to grind but they take away random battles for exp. Lol
Nah, i dont train. I used repels but it is still a nightmare in the caves in the originals. Instead of 5 steap and a fight it is 10 steps.

Doesn't this game use like 2 buttons and an analogue stick? Seems a bit silly to get wound up about no pro controller support.

Knowing type advantages helps. Lt. Surge for example is an Electric gym leader, to the east of Vermillion is Diglett cave. Catch a dugtrio (or if you caught a geodude in mt moon) youre pretty much set.

A am already fighting lvl 32 pokemon against the normal pokemon trainers, and I havent even got to the 4 gym yet. I really doubt that what you are saying is true. I'll get a photo of that gym trainer when I get there though to make sure.
I had a graveler at that time but he was low health, should have used a few potions before fight.
