Welcome to the NeoGAF Volunteers thread (BETA).
As we continue to rebuild and gather more Gaffers, complaints of lack of threads and inactive OT’s have come up more recently. The NeoGAF Staff has done an awesome job giving us the tools to build but we have somewhat stalled. We as a community are stuck between the “I’m not creating content because it’s not active enough” and “it’s not active because we don’t have enough content”.
Let’s change that!

Unbiased Gaming, Off Topic, And Political News Threads Volunteers.
What does Unbiased mean? Here is an example of what a Unbiased Gaming News Thread looks like.
“Microsoft buys (Blank) Developer”
Here’s what a Biased Thread looks like.
“Microsoft is about to destroy another Developer”
See the difference? Now look at Off Topic and Political examples.
“New Marvel Movie Trailer Discussion Thread”
“New Marvel Movie Trailer filled with SJW OMG WTF”
“President Trump wants to build a Border Wall”
“Orange Face is building stupid Wall”
Volunteer News Threads should be Information and Topic starters. You are free to add your opinion to the topic in a reply post. But OP’s shouldn’t attempt to steer the conversation at the starting line with any agenda. Let the community as a whole decide what direction a topic will head.
New Member Greeter and Helper
Jumping into NeoGAF can be intimidating for some. As a Volunteer, it is your task to make them feel welcome. There are a number of ways to do this. Examples are...
1. Reply and like their post in the Introduction New Members thread.
2. Posting their New Members Thread Request in a timely manner.
3. Sending them a Private Message with helpful links to common questions New Members often have.
Remember to be polite and warm welcoming

This is a big one isn’t it? Something we lack and only have a few working on. While it may seem like the work is not currently "worth it", we have to start somewhere. This is step one. Or as someone once said "If you build it, they will come". Examples are...
1. Creating OT’s for NeoGAF
2. Creating Meme’s and Gif’s you find entertaining and sharing on NeoGAF
FAQ (That I made up on my own. Ask questions below and you will get answers)
1. I don't have time to be a Volunteer. How can I help encourage and show support to the community?
Stop lurking and post in threads you are reading! And give a LIKE to OP's. Doing so will let the creators of Threads know their work is appreciated.
2. How do I know my Thread Title is unbiased?
Use your best judgement and ask a friend if needed. If your friend thinks "Microsoft is about to destroy another Developer" is unbiased, ask another friend.
3. What if I can't stop myself from creating Biased Thread Titles.
Don't sign up. You may still create threads as long as you don't break any rules.
4. Why is this called a BETA?
Well NeoGAF is a gaming forum. In gaming, everything new is called a BETA so when there are hiccups and issues the fanboys can say "relax it's just a BETA". So in advance, relax it's just a BETA.
5. Do I need to reply below if I'm not interested?
No. Your silence will be assumed as a no.
