I played this game for about 5 mins before I deleted it...

That was pretty much the moment I gave up on indie style gaming.

This is the one game that I envied Playstation owners for. Now I can play it, because it doesn't even require a high end PC. Surprised Sony let it go.

even though it's a shitty boring game, but an exclusive should remain an exclusive, sony better not pull a microsoft and ruin the playstation

Do games play any worse if they run on systems different from the one you're playing it on?

Jesus Christ. Is this a shitpost mocking console warriors? Microsoft didn't "ruin" the Xbox. They just realized there's no point in trying to attract PC gamers onto their consoles when they win either way. I think it's great that a console manufacturer finally realized that PC gamers see these consoles as nothing but a nuisance. They own the Windows Store because they own Windows. When someone buys a game off their service, they get 100% of the sale. The only negative from their perspective is not being able to charge for multiplayer but PC gamers are never going to pay for peer2peer multiplayer. That's a losing battle.

Sony would be wise to do the same in general. They have the resources and infrastructure to do the same on PC because the PC is an open platform. Hell, not only could they partner with Epic and walk away with 88% of every sale (significantly higher than what they're getting out of retail), they could walk away with 100% if they decided to make their own client. Good luck convincing people with high-end gaming PCs to buy a console that runs at a fraction of the performance as their preferred platforms. This is all over what? Royalties over third parties who launch better versions of those same exact games on PC and paid multiplayer that the PC audience laughs their ass off at the mere prospect of paying for it?

As I've always said, they can either concede this fact and make a shitload of money or they can wait for the PC audience to emulate their stuff anyways.

No one's buying a Playstation to play Journey. The game's been out for 6 years.

Nice, but a bit of a bummer it's exclusive to Epic's store. But at least I don't have to buy a new system to play it. :)

so they laugh at payed online service that also provides free games monthly but they are fine with buying unfinished games that run like shit

wake me up once you can emulate The last of us ps3 version and it plays properly

I really enjoyed this, when I played it at friends years ago but let's be honest it's not a long game and albeit I'm tempted to buy it when it comes out (assuming the price point isn't ridiculous) I'm not entirely Annapurna are backing the right horse seemingly going all in on Epic. Very unimpressed with their launcher so far from a user's perspective.

Such a charming little game. Those who have not played it are in for a treat.

I was LTTP and pre-ordered the PS4 version when it went up on PSN, and it was such a bittersweet experience when I ran into someone who helped me along the way and showed me all the little secrets. Made friends with the person on PSN afterwards finding out they were all the way in Japan.

To me, the game did a fantastic job making a brief connection with the other person, without ever having any words spoken.

I also got this at the PS4 release, and during my first playthrough I almost made it to the end with another player. But very near the end, in the snowstorm, we just lost track of each other. I spent quite a bit of time trying to "chime" and find him/her, but no avail. That made the whole thing very bittersweet.

Some months back I decided I'd give the game another go, just for the music. As it had been out so long, I figured there wouldn't be other players, and sure enough, I spent like 2/3 of the game by myself. And then - a chime, I turn around and there's someone else! This time I was determined to make it to the end together, and we did. It was surprisingly cathartic.

And you really do get a sense of "loss" when you lose track of one another.

I’m so happy we PC gamers can finally jerk each other off about how deep and sophisticated we are.

Huh? I don’t think I’ve ever posted my PC specs.
Just a general observation on the PCMR genre (that I felt your comment alluded to). Which usually goes along the lines of "I'm running a $CPU/$GPU on a $MOTHERBOARD with $TYPE_OF_MEMORY and $STORAGE and I'm able to reach a $REFRESH_RATE on $MONITOR so I couldn't be arsed to play a $GAME at $RESOLUTION/$REFRESH_RATE".

Sorry if I interpreted you wrong. But seriously, if you're willing to accept games as an interactive experience, Journey is great. Is it "deep" or "sophisticated" - I dunno? Emotion-provoking, perhaps? But no need to jerk anyone off. It's a great experience if you're willing to experience it.

Agreed. PC Gamer here, but as stated earlier in the thread I played it at friends and I really enjoyed the game as an experience. I wouldn't say it's the most challenging game, but it's an extremely beautifully crafted experience and very memorable. Certainly, a must play in my book.

Yesterday I met the parents of the guy who owns the company who made this game. They were both lovely and bought a picture of a giant squid from me.

Thank you for reading.

Don't give up! ... as a gamer you're doing yourself a disservice imo ... I'm no 'true indie' fan myself, but Soma, Transistor, Oxenfree, Firewatch Inside, LIttle Nightmares .(to name a few) are all class acts worth a playthrough

Sorry, if you don't like this game you have no heart :D but seriously, if I had to recommend a video game to a person who can only play one game at all, then this would be it. It's one of the most unique experiences.
