Got a pair of move controllers from a friend who still had them from his old ps3. They do work the same for ps4, right? Or is there anything I need to look out for?

They work exactly the same.

The only issue you may run into is the battery's may have degraded but that is very unlikely.

Also they use a different charging cable to the ds4

I have a suitable charging cable from my old compact camera, so that should work. Looking forward to trying out beat saber, skyrim vr and creed. :)

Finished Farpoint. Some gameplay from the later stages (Spoilers I guess?):



A game that is in equal parts generic and revolutionary. While much of it seems ripped straight from the likes of Halo, Mass Effect, as well as Starship Troopers and Terminator movies, the gameplay with the aim controller is making it very distinct and was a revelation. Just being able to lead a burst towards a target, blind firing around the corner, how natural it feels to take cover in this game versus how cover is handled in more traditional games, was quite a departure from flatscreen shooters. The guns are limited in their choice but each feels amazing (except the spike launcher, that one is just plain garbage) and the humble assault rifle (which looks like copied over from Mass Effect, with just enough modifications so they don't get sued) with rocket launcher carried me through much of the game. The precision rifle ranks among my favourite sniper rifles in any game ever, and the shotgun turned the early game spider horror into fun splatter, turning me from prey to predator chasing down the squishy arachnoids. The plasma rifle had too small magazine size to be really useful, but the secondary shield was quite useful in some stages where suitable cover was at a premium and annoying little drones were flying all over the place.

That said, there are some noticeable shortcomings. Enemy variety is not this game's strong point, two of the weapons come way too late in the campaign and if you die with the wrong loadout you're stuck at the checkpoing with it with no possibility to swap, unless you want to replay the entire level. Without the gun-feel this game would be just considered a halo-clone with a short campaign, can't imagine this to turn many heads on a flat screen. I read somewhere the game was developed by a rather small team in the span of less than two years all while developing the aim controller as well. Taking that into account I must salute to the developers of Impulse Gear. However, the voice acting and cutscenes are better than they have any right to be, plus you can completely ignore it in subsequent playthroughs, which I consider a plus in terms of replayability. I don't have an active PS+ account, hence I could not try any of the co-op yet, is it worth it?

I've picked it up for 15 spacebucks and for that it was a steal, since I already had the aim controller from the Firewall bundle. Also, now that I have the aim controller, I want every game to use the aim controller!

tl;dr: guns are fun, aim controller was made for it and vice versa, great fun for a few hours.

Didn't really disagree with anything said. You need to try out the Challenges. I dare you to try to get 3 medals on them lol. It's a nice addicting grind.

I didn't know until after like 20+ tries of the first level that the scoring was all about leaving some enemies alive so you can shoot their orbs or kill the small spiders to keep the multiplier up while running toward the next segment. Then you kill them.

So how was it?
The initial diagnosis was a bit too negative regrading the move batteries, turns out the cable was broken, not the controllers lol
Now I got a charging station for the move controllers and they seem to work fine. So far used them only in skyrim vr and I'm surprised by how little issues I have with motion sickness. At least it's much better than I thought after just around three weeks with the headset.

I still have some comfort options enabled, like snap turning, but am planning on giving smooth turning a try some point later. The only thing I need to look out for are steep stairs or inclines, too many of those in rapid succession make my head still spin a bit.

Moving with the move Controller works well and I didn't even use teleporting at all. Free movement all the way! The menu navigation is a bit annoying, I accidentally bought an overly expensive axe I didn't want at the first shop I went to. Live and learn.

Tracking is on point most of the time. However, the lack of weight for melee weapons is a bit odd and there isn't any feedback. Bows and magic are much more fun, so I guess I'll go towards a destruction archer for now.

Oh yes, for the vr version they could have changed the intro, being strapped to a sideways downhill rolling cart with no control of movement is just an invitation to visit the bathroom for vr newbies.

I've seen some gameplay and read some impressions, but I don't think I'll be picking it up. I've just never really been a fan of that series. I'm sure it's very cool in VR, but it's still not for me.

From what I have seen, it looks like they did a pretty good job on the port outside of some framerate drops that I'm surprised got through Sony.

I put in about 3-4 hrs on it this weekend. I used the PS Move controllers to play, the shooting is actually alot of fun using the Move controllers, especially when firing 2 guns at once, it feels pretty bad ass in VR, the aim assist is pretty generous. The tracking is quite good, considering all the movement that will take place, as you play although the melee can feel abit like swinging a cat by its tail, it saved me a couple times when I was out of ammo but it feels like swinging a wii-mote.

The in-game tutorials upon finding Clap Trap do a good job of explaining the controls, from there is usually a good time to make your personal adjustments in the settings.

The controls with the aim controllers will take a little getting used too at first, especially remembering how to navigate through the menus, the way they did it all was smart and creative but it didn't entirely feel natural at first and PS Aim support would have been great but I have no answer for how they would have set it up so you could use two guns at once...

The menus and hud map are abit tedious, for the menus cause Borderlands 2 is a heavy menu infused game with contracts and skill points, ect; there can be alot to go through and when you're in VR it kind of takes away from the pace of the game, the good news is as you get more familiar with the controls it becomes abit easier and therefore you spend less time in the menus. the hud map on the other hand, the placement of it is kind of a piss off, as I caught myself closing my left eye and using my open right eye to catch a glimpse of the next destination displayed on the upper right hand side. I'm hoping they patch this, the placement isn't good.

Last negative, all the cinematics/ cut scenes are flat and 2D, your PSVR becomes the giant movie screen as if you were watching a Blu-Ray without any 3D visuals, this does suck but for a port like this I'm sure it would have been too costly and require too many resources to redo all the cut scenes.

There are plenty of options for all level of PSVR players for comfort and sensitivity, I personally enjoy just turning all that off and using full locomotion and aside from the tutorial at the beginning, didn't really use the teleport feature. Feel free to adjust your movement speed in the menu's if you decide full locomotion is more your play style too,.

Driving is alot of fun in Borderlands 2 VR as well, its actually one of my fav parts so far, driving forward and reverse was done just like locomotion. Where you hold the move controller in front or behind you. I also really loved the boss fights in VR, they are just abit more intense when you're playing them in VR.

Visually the game looks great, not perfect but great as I found that enemies from a far can look pretty bland and be tougher to pick out. Up close, the game retains its comic book-come to life style charm and is extremely beautiful to just enjoy. I didn't notice frame rates drop to be at unacceptable levels but there is some, I run on a PS4 Pro with a V2, PSVR headset.

Despite few a few points like menus, the hud display and the cinematics/ cut scenes only being in 2D, I still very lost myself to the world of Pandora in VR, my 3-4 hours was all in one session and it didn't feel like I played that long which is always a good thing, so at the very least this game is very immersive.

I would personally buy it again if I had too, maybe if Limited Run Games does a physical copy. I know some of you will back out after a 'review' like this but its still worth checking out imo, maybe just after a price drop for some of you.

Does anyone else play Tetris Effect? I really find that I don't like playing it in the flat mode after all these hours in VR. I don't know what it is but I play worse. Maybe it's just a concentration thing since you can't help but be totally focused on nothing other than the game in VR.

I'm getting better every time I play, though. Getting full SS ranks in Expert isn't something I'm ready for, but I've almost beaten it at least. When it starts getting to speed levels up to 18, I just can't do things competently lol

The headset has much less input latency than the average TV and (IMO) the visuals are a bit distracting on TV whereas in VR I'm so focused I feel like I miss out on the trippy visuals.

I am not what I consider good at Tetris but somehow in a single week I went from not being able to finish Marathon mode consistently to doing more than 1000 lines, then forced myself to stop playing.

I get you there, it burned me too that there was no physical copy as I am a physical media guy all the way but the only hope of that happening would be Limited Run Games, not sure I see that happening seeing that theres already so many physical copies of Borderlands, the last being the Handsome Jack collection, I could see more demand for a physical copy of Beat Saber.

Omg, finally tried VR yesterday (got the black friday deal of moss + astrobot), played through tetris effect campaign again, moss to completion and now chipping away at Astrobot, Vr feels like it felt going from 2d to 3d. it is amazing. If anyone was on the fence like I was, I'd urge you to try it (if the price is right).

Haven't played my PSVR in some time but I just bought RE VII, Skyrim VR, Astro Bot, and 2 move controllers to get back in. Also have an aim controller with Firewall on order and will buy Farpoint when that comes in. Any other really immersive PSVR games you all recommend?

If you have a good setup for standing games, definitely try out Superhot too with those Move controllers.

So we bought into PSVR fairly heavy this Christmas... haha originally I wanted to wait but the price was good and lots of games were on sale so I figured hey if I have to buy new hardware in 2020 for the PS5 and get a better experience out of it, so be it. Just hope PS4 games are going to be compatible :/

Bought the Borderlands / Beat Saber bundle, and then separately I got the Aim / Firewall bundle, Moss, Tetris Effect, Astro Bot, Persistence, Creed, Thumper, Dirt Rally, and then I also have Wipeout and RE7.

Spent about 8 hours transferring ALL my PS4 games from the internal 2TB hard drive to a new 4TB external, but just now went and looked up the setup schematics (not opening VR until Christmas morning) and it looks like VR uses ALL THREE USB PORTS? How am I supposed to hook up an external drive to play games while playing VR?

Do I have to transfer all the VR apps and games back over to the internal drive now?

Am I missing something? How does everyone else have this set up?

Check the manual again, only one USB port is used for the breakout box and one dedicated port for the camera. That’s it.

Are you thinking that you have to have both Move controllers plugged in or something? Because like Shmunter said, there's only one USB slot used by PSVR.

And wow you have a lot of good stuff to try out. I'd start with some of the more basic stuff like Thumper, Moss, Beat Saber. Don't jump straight into Dirt Rally lol.

Thanks guys! Wasn't reading the manual just saw schematics online. Didn't read it right I guess Haha

I have a bit of VR experience w the Gear VR on my Note 9 and my friend has oculus on his PC (his beat saber sold me on buying this now that it's on ps vr)
 
Is it normal not having to find “VR legs” like i see some talking about? I haven’t had any issues with any game so far outside of bumping my head into things when looking around. My play space is kinda tight 😂

Alright the wife and I finally got to try our new PSVR tonight and it was super cool. She played Borderlands and Catlateral and I played Tetris Effect, Rez Infinite, and tried out some of the streaming services with 360 videos.

We have the Gear VR and we've never been nauseous playing that but this one did make both of us a little motion sick. Took her about 15 mins to feel sick and me maybe 20? Not something that will make us give up though, just have to get used to it.

So issues I have with it outside of the motion sickness thing... it fits and adjusts really weird compared to the Gear VR. Not sure if it's cause I wear glasses or what but it has to be pretty high up on my forehead for it to appear relatively clear. Didn't seem to be any way to make it 100% focused/clear though. Saw a bit of the screen door effect too which is weird because I've never experienced that before with any other tech.

Kind of bummed that the streaming videos were pretty low res and grainy. Even after they cleared up a bit once the video got going they were still fairly muddy, and we have 150mb internet so shouldn't be that I don't think? Any way to fix the quality of streaming video services?

Don't know if it fits me the same as everyone else but I could totally glance down and see my room... my hands and controller etc. My wife said she couldn't so wondering why I could? I tried to just ignore it and look straight out and not down to kill the experience. This happen to anyone else? Or everyone else?

I'm surprised that there is no way to focus the picture like you can with the dial on the gear vr. Is it just different VR tech or lazy design? Haha .. i'm sitting here moving the headset all around and even when its finally fairly clear its still a bit blurry in corners and stuff.

Overall pretty fun so far.. very much enjoyed Tetris from what I played of it so far. Rez was a freakin blast and put a huge grin on my face. Still have lots of other games to try out too.

Welcome to the group! and congrats on the fancy new PSVR! to start out any games where there is full movement or 'locomotion' as its called as Borderlands is a huge jump for a first time PSVR user and I haven't play Collateral but the trick is to start in games with no locomotion at first, get used to it and play maybe in 15 min sessions, increasing your sessions 5-10 mins each time, then add some games with full locomotion like Borderlands and repeat.

When I first got my PSVR in the summer, I started out kinda hard too playing games like RIGS (great game but the online is dead unless you join a community that plays certain days of the week) I despite being born without a left ear drum (which I thought would make it worse) by playing in smaller sessions to start 15 mins at a time, then gradually increasing my play time I can sit and play hours at a time in full locomotion, you should be feeling abit better in a couple weeks.

As for the fit of the headset, try turning off your lights in the room you're playing in, the headset tracks better that way anyways and if you go into the settings there is an option to track the distance between your eyes so you might be able to bring your headset lower on your face without losing any resolution.

Great games to start with for a new PSVR user are, Astrobot Rescue Mission, Moss, Beat Saber, Tetris which you already have, Playstation VR Worlds, Until Dawn Rush of Blood and Superhot VR (the last one being a great stepping stone to full locomotion where you move around freely like in Borderlands.

Theres lots of settings, blinders, movement speed ect; in full locomotion games but honestly I've had more luck just turning it all off but maybe give it awhile before jumping all the way in and try out a few of the above suggestions. Have fun!
 
Ok how am I supposed to be playing games with ps move support? Am I supposed to be starting with the DualShock and then fiddling around to find the moves after starting games? Kinda doesn’t make much sense.

You just turn on the Move controllers and start the game. It's not meant to be complicated lol

I’m really bummed out I missed the big sale on PSVR. It appears literally everywhere is sold out. I went to grab it from amazon.ca and sold out.
 
Played some Firewall yesterday after a break, and met many new players with low levels. The game is continuing to sell to new PSVR owners and there was never a problem with empty lobbies, they immediately got full.

There is also a new free map out if someone missed it.

Grabbed arizona sunshine out of curiosity.

It's pretty satisfying popping heads with the aim but I could only play for about 15 minutes before getting incredibly sick.

Kind of a shock as I've been fine with everything up to here.

I've gotten back into Rez Infinite for some reason. Back when I got it, I beat the 5 levels and played Area X but I never really delved further into it until now.

I can't believe I didn't know about the Overdrive. I was charging those up and never using them this whole time. I also didn't know until just now that you can play with a Move controller. This whole time I thought it was dualshock only. I've been so clueless with this game for some reason haha
