I'm thinking about sneaking in a small, not expensive if possible upgrade to my current PC to get by the rest of this gen.
My current PC is i5 3550, GTX670 2GB, 8GB RAM.
I'm considering to just upgrade video card to GTX 1060 6GB. My target settings would be nothing fancy - 1080p60fps Medium. (Main games I'm looking forward to atm is Metro Exodus and Sekiro).
My biggest question is how severely this video card will bottleneck my CPU? Can I get away with this?

I think it would work for the setting you are targeting. You will eventually need to upgrade your CPU and then you can just reuse your GPU then. Question is if when you upgrade your CPU will you also want to upgrade your GPU then again or not.

I'd recommend to go for higher frequency RAM. Ryzen really improves it's performance. IMO it's worth going for 3200 Mhz

Also, isn't it better to go for Nvidia and 1050TI?
Some part of me wants even to try to take RX570 instead of 560... But that would stretch the budget, and I don't want to do this. There is one Gigabyte 570 in the price of this sapphire's 560, but some say the cooling breaks down after few months. (Gigabyte Radeon RX 570 GAMING 4GB GDDR5 (256 bit), DVI-D, HDMI, 3xDisplayPort, BOX (GV-RX570GAMING-4GD) here)
On the other hand, maybe they'll get cheaper in a month or two? What do you think?

It frankly sucks, but so does (4)560:
I'd be worried about weaksauce GPU more than RAM speed in that case.
AMD CEO will be making noise at CES in mid Jan.
Zen2 announcement is a given, if she also covers concrete GPUs they could drop in price of course.
Jesus Christ, 699 Zloty is about 163 Euro, and that for 1050/560!?!?!?

For those asking about 32GB of RAM for gaming, don't bother. It's simply overkill right now and not worth it. I have researched it a ton.

Two things:
The recommendation of 3200 OC memory is an excellent one. You will not get the most out of a Ryzen system without it.
Radeon 560 is a terrible choice. You wont do much gaming with that card. I'd get a 580 and you will have excellent gaming. 570 is also a reasonable alternative if cheap is what you are going for. 1440p is not happening with a 560. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076Y93L8F/?tag=neogaf0e-20 is a good deal.

You see, the thing is I want to buy everything online, in one place, wher they will put it all together for me, and install OS. The last part I could do myself, but generally I want to be able to get it ready to power up. So I don't know if I could buy it in any other place... But if the price difference is big, I'll think about it. I wouldn't like to overpay to much.

Depends on if ps5 releases next year with more than 16GB. If it has 24-32+GB, it is likely to be used by all big games, which should have dev. kits right now if rumors are to be trusted.

Asking in here because it's not thread worthy and I don't know where else to ask. Basically, I bought a new monitor and it has a dead pixel at the top of the screen. Should I return it, bearing in mind that the process will be a pain in the ass?

If it distracts you then you should return/replace it.
My last monitor had a dead pixel and I returned it and received a pristine monitor.

I think I am closer to the decision, still waiting for amd conference, hoping for prices to drop a little. I'll take rx570 or 580 4gb depending on the prices, and 3000mhz DDR4 I think.
At the moment I would like to take 8gb and upgrade in some time, not too long probably. But can I have a set of 4x4gb or is it a bad idea?

I was talking to a friend who is saying to wait till next month because AMD is going to undercut Nvidia big time and that it will also cause market adversity to even intel who is getting in on the GPU game but it is even moreso that AMD is going to drop general pricing on everything it offers. Is there any validity to this? I have a pretty awesome gaming laptop that only struggles with Star citizen and Kingdom Come Deliverance but the prospect of AMD release new everything at great pricing sounds too good to ignore.

My eyes have fallen on the Steelseries Arctic Pro. I'm seeing good reviews all around so I'm not terribly concerned about that.
I'm much more interested in the microphone. For some reason I've always had issues with my microphones.
My current setup is:
Beyerdynamic 990 Pro
Blue Snowball microphone
Sound blaster sound card
I've tried different settings, but the microphone seem to pick up EVERYTHING in the living room.
With that said I'm also looking for much more simpler setup. My computer is currently placed in the living room and I'd like for a simple and "neutral" look - I very much dislike all these "modern" gamer equipment/accessories. I find them to generally look ugly and bulky ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So my question is if anyone have tried the Arctic Pro Wireless version and could tell me how good the microphone is?
It seem to me that the microphone should be identical between the wired and wireless versions, but I've read somewhere that the noise cancelation is worse in the wireless one
I'd love a wireless set due to my 15 months old son and general ease of use between my pc and PS4.

I wouldn't hold off on current AMD GPUs becoming that much cheaper any time soon. RX 570 and 580 are both already great deals. They just launched RX 590 at $280(which is a bit overpriced, so that could drop). I doubt you'll see AMD lowering those prices any time soon. Navi is not releasing H1 2019 so there is no need for that and the cards are already good value(aside from RX 590). Nvidia on the other hand will likely release new cards in the lower end segment in H1 2019...

Looks good(though you could drop to a 500w PSU). Nvidia is announcing new cards for CES. RTX 2060 already leaked, GTX 11-series may be coming soon too which may be in the RX 580/GTX 1060 price range but with more performance...

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to wait just to be sure. At the very least we'll see what announcements are made and who knows, maybe upcoming Nvidia 11-series will cause RX 580 to drop prices a little further. AMD card deals seem to always happen around Nvidia launches, but I still don't think RX 580 prices will change that much.

Im asking because I'm preparing for something similar, RX580, Ryzen5 2600, tomahawk b450, 1 ssd for start, 16 gigs ddr4, 2 case fans at the begining and in any calculator I try I get 420-450 watts peak power consumption, and 500 watts power supply recommendation. I think 600 will surely be enough?

500w should be fine. I've run Ryzen 7 1800x overclocked with an RX 580 also overclocked with no issues on 500w in the past.

I’m adding a second hard drive, possibly mechanical, a blu ray drive, several usb devices, a wireless card, a usb expansion card, a media reader, possible a second disc drive (from my old machine)....I felt like for $40 to $50 difference in price better upgrade and be safe. I tried to skimp once and my computer would shut down unexpectedly in certain scenarios. I usually go about 100 watts over whet I need since then.

It’s probably overkill in my case too, but the price difference wasn’t much, and since they don’t run at 100% efficiency, a 700 watt “gold” rated power supply is only getting about 87% efficiency, which means it is really only reliable for about 609 watts. That’s why I usually go a little overboard on power.

I would have waited until after CES. Ryzen 7nm are rumored to be right around the corner and should be quite an improvement over the 2000 series. The possibility of Vega 2 has me very intrigued.
What you got is good, don't get me wrong, but I am very much advising anyone against getting any upgrades right now as there should be a lot shown at CES.
AMD could really make a splash if they announce that 3000 series CPUs are available right at the time of announcement.
Regardless, unless the rumors are 100% wrong CES is where AMD will lay all of their CPU cards on the table.

The 3000 series are supposed to fit the same socket. I can just pop one into my mb and eBay the 2700X at some point. At least, that’s my plan.

That's true, but the X570 will no doubt have improvements over the X470.
I am currently running an 8700K and if Ryzen 3000 makes a very strong showing and IF (a HUGE IF) they have a 16-core CPU at a nice price, I will probably upgrade and just ebay my 8700K plus the mobo.

I came across a deal almost too good to pass up on from one cyberpower pc. The short version is 2070, i7 8700k, 16GB 3khz, 512 SSD + 3TB HDD 7200, ASROCK z390 PG4, 1000 watt PSU, and a few less important details. The whole deal came up to about 1350. I did pc part picker on it and I was sitting at almost 1600 for the same build. What do yall think? I feel like it is almost future proofing myself with the PSU as well.
So I have a laptop that is a desktop replacement that is pretty decent. It runs just about everything at max or almost max settings at almost 60fps consistent... I don't need this but I would be more future proofing myself by getting that desktop. Plus I kinda get tired of constantly plugging/unplugging my laptop at home but that is the convenience that I bought as I also use my laptop for work.

I wanted to wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to buy a good GPU, and my original idea was to replace the 970 with a card as cheap as possible with the same performances (possibily Nvidia, I don't really like ATI), then buy a monster when CP2077 get released.
So, I need good advice. What do you think I should do?

your best options would be an RX 580, RX 590 or GTX 1060 (6GB).
a 580 outperforms a 970 in most games but there are a few where the 970 still wins. a 590 will easily destroy a 970. a 1060 will too.
you can't go wrong with any of them. get whatever is cheapest.
yep the 580 is probably the best choice if Fuz just wants a cheap card with similar performance until Cyberpunk.
i have a 2080 and expect it won't be enough for Cyberpunk. sure it'll run it no doubt but i can only now play Witcher 3 at 1440p solid 60fps ultra settings. my 290 struggled at 1080p low settings for 60fps and my 1070 couldn't maintain a solid 60fps at ultra on 1440p. CDPR games have always been demanding.

Made it! Happy ending, all fine. Didn't even need to update bios to set xmp profile with 3200 mhz for RAM. Two clicks and done.
Few mistakes along the way, I even had to take out the motherboard several times (so I was really, really afraid I broke somethink!) (tight chassis, huge CPU cooling installed outside and so on..)
Took me 6 hours I think haha. Started at 10 pm, finished at 4 am.

I should get a code for this after 14 days from the purchase.
With RX580 I should be able to pick two games from these three.
I know I will take Division, but between RE2 and DMC5 I can't decide, never played any of these series.
