Xbox Live is down - Microsoft working to restore service

I just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why the RE2 demo is getting a failure to connect error when I am connected. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
I wondered why the 2 people on my friends list that were playing BFV suddenly vanished!!

Been playing fine for last few hours - dead By Daylight and the Resi2 demo (both require online)
Yep I’ve had no issues myself and neither have 15 people on my friends list that are online right now.

These outages always seem so sporadic on who they affect and who they don’t.

So, if there is a power outage, does that mean that gaming in general is a failure?

A power outage is less common. It's also preventable by using a backup battery or generator. When XBL is down it's 100% Microsoft's responsibility to fix that shit and nothing I could do to solve it.

Is it down for everyone? I just got through playing some pvp on Absolver...had no issues. Great game by the way if you like kung fu.

Ah yes, because little timmy just happens to have a backup generator in his bedroom so he can carry on playing Fortnite when the blocks juice goes out.

Isn't this the second major outage for a Microsoft Azure service in like the past several months? How can anyone have confidence in Microsoft's cloud services when big deals like this have down time?

Only a second outage that barely lasted a day in multiple months? Pretty good deal. Things happen and services can go down. If it is as rare as it has been for MS, then that is perfectly fine. Unless you are permanently tied to the cloud, it shouldn't matter much.

If Azure going down for only a couple hours, for only a small portion of services like parties and syncing 1st party games makes you worry, I can only imagine that you must be a nervous wreck about PSN.

Sony's main business isn't being a cloud provider, though.
