Mortal Kombat 11 - LETS GET HYPED

So rumors that we could get shaolin monks like story mode weren't true?

I donno, i actually do think its true because in one of those reveal trailers we got Kung Lao and Liu Kang together fighting against an enemy. Maybe they just didn't want to announce it right away. I hope im right.

Sorry I couldn't find a better photo of the scene. Next to him is Liu Kang.

The newest addition to the Mortal Kombat 11 roster is the imposing Geras, a punchy fellow whose abilities allow him to conjure up implements of destruction from the sand with which to flatten and/or impale his enemies. But he’s also got some sneakier tricks up his sleeve: Geras can actually manipulate time by rewinding it for himself, stopping it for his opponent, or even adding or subtracting time from the match clock.
Perhaps most notable among these is Lost Time & Spare Time, which he can use to either add or subtract 30 seconds to the clock. While you can’t use the ability to insta-win a match, since you can only subtract time down to nine seconds, it’s still situationally a powerful move.

This looks … wrong, as if Lao doesn't have any ears or hair.

I hope they bring the gameplay of shaolin monks back and make it better. It would spice the story mode up having and actual third person action game instead of simply going through regular fights with cutscenes inbetween.

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
I want Baraka to have a chapter and actually win a battle for once.

Sonya asks him what she needs to do to gain his respect. And Raiden asks if Tarkatans will reconcile with Earthrealm.

It looks like he will be an actual character this time around and not just a generic evil henchman.

Yeah, Outworld seems to be something of a Chaotic Neutral society now, while the Netherealm takes the mantle of Neutral Evil. Still, Shao Kahn's influence is still strong, and his return will only serve to turn Baraka into his lapdog once more.
I really want to see some of the bad guys have their own chapters, like D'Vorah did in MKX - even though she was revealed to be evil near the end.

Insane graphics, and I liked the art direction too! There is a little of the silliness of the MK3 costumes with the badassery of MKX. Found very interesting, very unique. Lots of creative moves, fatalities and even winning poses!

My only issue, if I can say it is a issue, is that Scorpion is getting too much love. I hope he won't be the Mary Sue of story mode.

I don't think you need to worry on that front. While Scorpion is Ed Boon's favorite character and poster boy, he always depicted him as a flawed character. In MK9 he ruins his chance to restore his clan and turns into Quan-Chi guard dog. In MKX he ruins everyone's chance to come back from their zombie like state because he was blinded by his emotions and he acted like a juvenile kid throwing a temper tantrum while Subzero acted as the voice of reason.

A flawed badass from head to toe for 8 years straight. So chances are he will still be flawed in MK11.

Sub-Zero is more of a Mary Sue than Scorpion could ever be, tbh.

I hope so. I like what they did with previous story modes, specially MKX, but this time he is in the cover alone and even the health bars and the Mortal Kombat text are yellow. It annoys me how he is winning 90% of the time in the trailers, but whatever... story mode is what counts.

Although we can't speak on story development for Baraka, people have mentioned that he is the most fun that he has ever been in this one which is great since he wasn't that good in MK9.

Am I the only individual who wouldn’t mind if the block button finally got eliminated? I mean, I can deal with it, but I always preferred back to block over holding a button. They could even do it like Dead Or Alive. Back to block or hold the reversal/hold button down to block.

Honesty asking - who's 'we'? Are you a developer or someone with inside info on the game? Or are you speaking for us, gamers? Because if you have inside info that Baraka actually DOES something in this game, I will be overjoyed.

That's the charm of MK, c'mon! :)

Whenever you're asking yourself "am I the only one who ... " keep in mind that you're probably not. I've seen this request across all forums and to be quite honest, I can't understand it. My favourite fighting games feature a block button so it's second nature for me to use it.

That’s understandable, but to me it just seems like an extra burden to worry about that’s just doesn’t really seem to contribute to the gameplay mechanics imho. It’s probably me though because even though I’ve played MK since day one, it was always something that took time to get used too while hold back and block was always immediately second nature to me.

Having a dedicated block button adds a level of deliberation.I admit it is not as intuitive, but it is far more engaging.

I...didn't hate the music in the trailer. Also it's done wonders to spread awareness of the game's existence. Everyone has an opinion on the trailer music! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I thought they were trying to go for that NFL video game trailer feel with the rap. Trying to make it fresh. The other thought is maybe you’ll be able to play your own music in the background.

My take is, "hey there cool kids, this what you listen to, yes?"

I hope they change Kung Laos Hat and look to match the older MK games in HD quality instead of that weird witches hat he had in 9 and especially 10.

Also I need by instant style change to return, just no chain combos.

In for the klassic skins

Does anyone else think Scorpion's voice here is awkward? His intro voice and his get over here voice are two different people lol. Don't tell me the regular voice is just Hanzo and get over here is the demon Scorpion. loll

Female gamer in the 90s: "Oh. Another woman in a bikini, while the men are dressed in full plate armor."

eeehhhhhh
Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Jax, Shao Khan, Shang Tsung(MK3), Kung Lao(MK3), Sub-Zero(MK3) and Nightwolf were all topless or wore clothing where you saw their upper body in the original games. So did males from MK4 but I can't remember their names.

Pretty much all fighting games and beat em ups in the 90s (and 80s) were filled with idealized men's bodies and usually in very little clothing. Acting like it was only the female characters that were like this is a bit revisionist.
