Apex Legends hits 10 million players in 72 hours

Doc and Shroud and presumably a bunch of other people have been playtesting this for months.

If it is a CTD that happens randomly during matches and produces no errors *and* you're using usb audio you might try updating the driver for whatever that usb audio device and/or switch to onboard if you have it. Seems to be an issue with some USB audio devices.

Its DXGI error, and I do get an error message, it seems a few people are having the same issue, so it might be fixed soon.

Strange time to launch this just before Anthem, is EA sending bioware to hell?

No reason you can't play both, I do. I like playing a few rounds of Apex and then playing a few hours of something else before coming back, can't play it nonstop.

played 15 games still yet to get the win! Currently using caustic i might change as his gas bombs are pretty weak only ticking for like 2dmg per second

Caustic is either the worst or the best character in the game, depends on finding that special circle that gives you a building you can work, either defensively or to choke out a final squad hiding in it.

Honestly, I'd shelve him until they make a more urban map with a lot more structures and a lot less open ground.

To get that win I'd run Bangalore, Lifeline, or Bloodhound.

Nvidia acknowledged the problem in their last drivers' notes. So it seems driver related, you can roll back to fix your game or wait for the next one.

So did you give it a try in the end Sponk?
Yes I did and I actually managed to pull off two victories with my buddies. I like it much more then Blackout and Fortnite, it is certainly the best BR game at the moment. I'll never be a super hardcore fan of BR games but it's an enjoyable game.

Problem I was having with caustic was that I was wanting to throw the gas bombs too often instead of shooting. You almost have to place those things in choke points when you are not in a fight and forget about throwing them when you are in a fight.

It seems people really enjoy this BR but I suck at it. Might go back to PUBG or just wait for BFV Firestorm. The high TTK is kind of a turn off for me :( .

I keep checking twitch's most viewed games every few days and this game keeps getting 3x more than anything else gets! It's amazing how Respawn went from developing a barely popular shooter like Titanfall to this gigantic thing.

Weren't they paying streamers and influencers?

Just asking, I thought I read something about it somewhere but can't really remember.

Never tried a BR game so I thought I would give it a shot.

I discovered i'm fucking awful at it.

Nice looking game though.

They only paid streamers and you tubers to play it for two or three days. You can tell those videos and streams, because they were required to display "Apex Partner" in the corner of the video. Everyone playing it now is playing it because they want to.

I posted this in another thread, but this should give you an idea of what one of the biggest streamers really thinks of the game he was paid to promote. He likes it, and it's kind of the only thing he wants to play.

Some brutal honesty from someone who just a few days ago was being paid to play Apex Legends, with money that came from EA's marketing budget:

4:56 time stamp. After Titanfall 2, I have to think that the reversal of roles here isn't lost on Respawn.

I'm very happy for Respawn.

They did, only for the first day, and the streamers had to disclose that with the #ApexPartners hashtag.

Edit: What LegendofKage said above!

I'm sick of the cheesekeeper. I'm always getting 3rd partied by somebody else with one while dueling.

So 10 million in 72 hours, and 25 million in the first week. Today will be the second week the game has been out. Anyone care to guess what the player count is now? At first I was thinking 40 million, but I'm going to say 50 million doesn't sound all that unlikely.

I just checked, and Apex Legends literally had twice the number of viewers than Fortnite. The developers of Titanfall are currently killing Fortnite in twitch viewership. Who thought that would ever happen?

Respawn has already said they'll have some sort of news or announcement later today, so perhaps we'll hear some actual numbers then.

Checking viewers (especially on Twitch) isn't exactly useful because it's often heavily dependent onwho is streaming currently and also, there is a lot of viewbotting going on.
