First noticed by Gear Nuke, Rockstar India is hiring for technical artist positions, including a senior environment artist, to join a team tasked with creating "next-generation worlds for some exciting upcoming projects." The India branch is also hiring a vehicle artist, and the description sounds like it could be for something like GTA 6. Also, Rockstar New York is looking for a MoCap tools developer to help create and build "upon the next generation of MoCap tools and pipeline," as well as a technical face developer to "help research and develop new technology for future titles." Rockstar Toronto is also hiring for projects that use next-generation technology.

Will working on the next Grand Theft Auto send you straight to the hospital and be put on life support?

GTA 5 set such a ridiculously high benchmark in terms of sales, Rockstar might work you to death hoping you deliver something even bigger.

I wish Rockstar‘s next project would have much more arcade like gameplay rather than sim like RDR2. I like they put so much detail in their world but when it comes to play the actual game it never fun for me and it’s a pain in the ass to control.

But that just my personal opinion and most people might enjoy the sim like gameplay.

You know, I still haven't played GTA V. I keep forgetting about it.

It took me 5 years to give it a full playthrough, but it's worth it, I love the main characters.

In fact I dare say they should bring Trevor back if they go with the multiple protagonist idea again.

if the next GTA is in modern age sign me off. I dont want a modern age gta.

90s is maximum. give me a GTA in the 70s or 80s again

It's very possible they might do a period piece again to avoid the problem of how to deal with modern day politics.

Speaking of 70s and Rockstar though, I'd like to see a reboot of The Warriors but as an open world game, 70s era NYC is begging for an open world game.

Click bait. We all know the next release will be the cross gen Bully 2.....Coming late 2020. :messenger_crystal_ball:

How awesome would a Bully Online be though? (Looks at RDO) Ohhh.....scrap that.

what a surprise. GTA 6 gonna come out in 2020 September.

I'd love a GTA 6 so close, my dreamer side want it
But...if we are Lucky, GTA 6 will come out mid - ps5, cycle, 2023-24 at the earliest, knowing Rockstar Times

GTA Online success is declining now, after 6 years, and RDR Online exploit has yet to begin
They'll speculate hard on it, then release GTA 6 ( I suppose they have to start developing it properly)

I'd actually love if they try the early 1900s era, like the 20s-30s, whenever the mafia was. I know we have that Mafia game, but I believe R* can do a much better job applying their classic GTA style to the setting.

Please be dense as fuck.

I fell in love with the sprawling natural landscape of RDR2, but I would be all the more excited if they went for a denser, vertical map in GTA VI.
It would seem more fitting for an urban setting, in my opinion. Especially in a post Cyberpunk 2077 world.

+ Cops can chase you in and out of buildings. Give them the slip by exiting through windows/ fire escapes.

+ Breaking and entering mechanics. Tenants will call 911 on you if they catch you in the act, similar to the witness system in RDR2.

+ Shootouts in stairwells, hallways, apartments, lobbies, etc.

+ Use NPC's as human shields. Would make standoffs between the player and law enforcement more interesting.

+ More destructible environments.

+ Updating the loot system from RDR2, and sell the stolen goods at pawnshops.

+ Stickup NPC's at gunpoint for their money or valuables. Which can then be sold at pawnshops.

+ Rent out property/ apartments to make passive income.

+ Vechiles can run out of gas, and can be refueled at gas stations, instead of just being pretty set dressing.
This would add more tension and thrill to the hot pursuit gameplay, in addition to providing another incentive for stealing vehicles.

I wouldn't even mind a smaller map, as RDR2 already scratches my huge map itch.

Mmmh, gotta admit it, after GTA V, I dunno if i'd ever be able to play a non contemporary GTA, the amount of technology blend in gameplay, and the amount of humour are a blast

If i'd ever want to bet a penny on the next GTA game step:

GTA 6 set in today's Vice City, Eva Mendes - Ryan Gosling thief couple a là Dick e Jane ( Jim Carrie old movie)

I'd LOVE another Midnight Club!! Also , didn't they make a pretty good ping-pong game? I remember playing at a friends house and having a blast with it

I know it won't happen (because “GTA is a British response to Americana”), but a GTA game set in 1960s London would interest me more than “Vice City 2”.

There are some cool ideas in here.

Cant say I'm surprised... I would wager GTA6 will be cross Gen similar to how they did V...

(Released a bit later with more bells and whistles)

LoL @ peeps mocking Rockstar. If you ask around I'm certain most devs would be honored to have a chance to work on the biggest game on the planet. Looks incredible on your resume.

Yes, many rumors and also job listings too particular ( can't remember exactly, I'll search it again, but one job listing mentioned something like School characters, teen characters, something highly linkable with Bully series) also months ago, a verified and respectable user on GTA forum, Yen something, said that Bully 2 Will happen after RDR2
So, my bet is a reveal soon, with launch end 2019 - q1 2020[
For real? I wasn't aware of that.

F---k, if I agree
GTA V and RDR2 suffered from the same, boring problems, like a not so good character mobility, he's like a piece of wood
I'd want smoother and more accurate controls, and a totally new shooting system

They've been doing that limp physics shit with character movement since GTA IV, wasn't that 2008? Time to make a game that feels good to control, they haven't pulled that off since the PS2 era.

Will you start hating your favourite franchises when they finally catch up with R* industry leading animations?

To me good game animator is when the animator knows when they need cut some animation to make control feel good while still making it look good. RDR2 has very detail animation but what’s good about that when control is sluggish and pain in the ass to control. At end of the day R* suppose to make a game not a movie here.

Nailed it, overly long drawn out animations are good if you're making a movie video game like The Order 1886 or RDR2.

It's possible to have great animations and be fun to play, look at RE2. Watching my character get knocked over and flop around/ragdoll for 20 seconds isn't thrilling to me but Rockstar fans love that shit.

My favorite franchises aren't cinematic interactive films so I think I'm safe.

I don't disagree with most of what you stated, simply that Cyberpunk isn't the first to do that and even that game isn't going into much detail in terms of HOW MUCH can even be entired to be making it seem as if it set a bar.

Lets wait for facts first.

Example. In the Yakuza series, its more dense in the respect that you can go in many buildings and we are talking about a series almost 15 years old. If I just tell you some info on a game like "you can enter many buildings, we focus on density instead of scale" etc.

What part of that tells you how much?

How do you know I'm not talking about Yakuza with that example?

So I'd wait and actually see instead of folks exaggerating the statements of the developer as for all we know, not as much can be entired as some might be imagining and I'd hold off in thinking every last place can be entered as even GTA isn't seeking such a thing as stuff like Yakuza, Cypberpunk, Skyrim etc are not what GTA is aiming to be in the first place. So more would be nice, as small as what Cyberpunk looks like? no.

I'd like more places to entire and don't disagree with that, simply that those other games are also not letting you conquer land, air, sea etc. So GTA VI likely isn't going to do what Cyberpunk does, but its clearly not doing what Skyrim, Yakuza etc do either, Different concepts. Consider Cyberpunk isn't allowing you to do even a fraction of what you can do in GTA....

So much for living in a post GTAV world right?

Would be a crazy I if they incorporated all that.

GTA 4 had some hallway and apartment shootouts, so I would love to see what a Next gen take on that would be.

GTA6 is something I certainly want, but I don't expect it until we're 3 or 4 years into the new generation.

I'm just hoping they make a really good next-gen and PC port of Red Dead 2 that fixes HDR and significantly reduces input lag while added lots of visual enhancements.

I only mentioned Cyberpunk 2077, because of how popular CDPR is as a developer. That game will undoubtedly influence open trends after it launches.

I never implied it was the first to push dense, vertical maps or anything of the sort. Sure, a lot of what they've said in past interviews can be chalked up to fanning marketing hype, but it will sell several millions while popularize new design choices, or could possibly innovate on others.

I'm just spit balling ideas that I'd like to see in the next GTA.

I hope that GTA6 will be one of the first games to use AI created structures and textures. A game of that scope could really benefit from that. It could help the team to focus on the interactive parts of the town and let the AI do the busywork. I have faith in rockstar as they are the've proven to be technical wizards with gta5 and especially rdr2.

Best send in my CV and portfolio.

Games likely:

GTA 6
Bully 2
RDR2 ported over to next-gen/PC

Wish list:

Manhunt 3
Max Payne 4
