Legendary DMC action returns, made all the more stylish by the power modern gaming has to offer.
The Devil May Cry series boasts over 16 million sales worldwide.
The first game in this popular series to make its debut in the current generation, bringing stylish mayhem against
fiendish foes at the hands of Devil Hunters with demon blood in their veins.

Several years after the Order of the Sword incident...
An unusual phenomenon suddenly appears in Red Grave City.
A gigantic tree pierces through the surface in the middle of town,
attacking with roots that drain the poor citizens of their blood
Young Devil Hunter Nero races into Red Grave aboard the mobile
Devil May Cry vehicle with his partner Nico, a self-styled
"artisan of arms" who provides Nero with his new weapons.
Nero seeks to recover many things in Red Grave:
Lost pride...stolen power...and a man left behind.
Brandishing his beloved Red Queen sword and custom Blue Rose revolver,
Nero plunges into Red Grave, routing the demon hordes as he makes for the
menacing phenomenon in the city center.
All the while, a new power crackles through his right arm...
The all-new anti-demon arm known as the Devil Breaker.
"Not bad...let's see what this can do!"

Stylish action makes a triumphant return in theramped-up sword-and-gun gameplay the DMCseries is known for.
Chain together stylish combos in battle to trigger a Stylish Rank onthe right side of the screen, which rises as you
continue your artistic onslaught. Shooting for higher Stylish Rankshas all sorts of benefits, even pumping up the battle music athigher ranks.
Nothing beats the feeling of finishing off a battle at SSS Rank!

There's no version without his face covered. The leaker said he didn't want to spoil too much. What could that mean?

I got the digital deluxe version pre-ordered for the costumes and etc. I'm excited to play as V. It'll be interesting to see how he actually plays.

While the familiars can be powered up with Devil Trigger, they can also be knocked out of battle temporarily if they take too much damage at once. They automatically heal over time, and do so more quickly when they’re close to V. The regular health bar is entirely dedicated to V himself, who isn’t a fighter at all. To go with the idea of V as vulnerable compared to the others, he can even read his book mid-battle to charge his Devil Trigger gauge – but doing so leaves him open to attack. It’s all about that risk and reward.

There’s one last wrinkle in all this that makes it genius. The familiars can’t finish off enemies on their own. Not even Nightmare, the Devil Trigger Level 3 summon, can do this. Only V can deal a killing blow. This makes combat with V a delicate dance of weaving in and out of range while attacking with the familiars, then dashing back in to land a killing blow on a weakened enemy before dashing away once again. V can teleport to injured enemies to finish them with a lock on and a button press, but then can’t teleport back out of the thick of things – that’s left up to you. It feels bloody great.

Maybe he has three eyes as in the final boss....

As excited as I am for the game. The atmosphere looks really disappointing, again.

The one area that seems to get worse with every new entry.

But I'm still going to love the shit out of this game regardless.

The dodge button complaint unfortunately isnt a games journalist thing. This will be the first DMC for a lot of zoomers who cant into the controls.

The faces are really creeping me out especially when compared to their original models. In this regard, REmake2 was better.

Which is pretty sad to be honest. At least it doesn't have an auto-combo button. I'm ignoring the reviews simply because it will more than likely be in the perspective of a cave man waking up in the future. So much fluff that could be ignored if certain aspects of the game were just acceptable in 2019.

Do we know how well the PC version will run yet? Resident Evil 2 ran great. Hoping is the same for this port.

Getting this via amd rewards, odds of getting a key in time for release appear to be about nil.

Why is everyone so sure this game will review poorly?

Every single preview I’ve seen has been glowing. I’m guessing a 90+ Metacritic game here.

Do critics have a history of “not getting” DMC games or something?

Not traditionally, the series has rolled with an 80+ MC outside of 2 and (for whatever reason) the PS4 release of the HD collection.

I think people are just cynical about current-year games journalism, and I don't entirely blame them after such debacles as Polygon Reviews Doom and IGN Reviews Half Of RE2.

More like they wanted another "DMC" and not the real one.
Yeah this is also a thing. 4 being a bit of a letdown in terms of its campaign put the glowing praise of the reboot (and accompanying 'fans bad' narrative) in stark relief.

this game has microtransactions,so no thank you
That particular element does suck, but we're at the point where it isn't going away. Our wallets aren't loud enough to vote effectively anymore.

It didn't break 4SE, so until proven otherwise it's probably going to be the same here. If that crosses the line for you then that's unfortunate ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So i was playing the demo and since now besides the charging blue rose shots you can also charge your devil breaker while moving, dodging, jumping and attacking i felt forced to change the default controls, good call making them completely customizable in the demo.
I recorded this fight because i'm particularly fond of the taunt at the end :V

I only watched the initial trailer so I'm going in blind. I'd like if the boss battles are more like dmc3 than 4. In 4 it felt like you could just button mash your way through them without spending the time to learn the encounter.

edit: also never finished the reboot on account of weird controls I'd forget after not playing the game for a while. May go finish that now

I couldn’t stand that reboot. Tried to like it, failed.

I see. Well, I absolutely loved DMC1, 3, and 4.

Makes me wonder though, I might be getting too old for hardcore action games, I couldn’t even bring myself to beat the demo boss. :(

I'm disappointed with the OT title, but the OP itself is great!

I am so freakin' excited for Friday, I've comboed my way through 11 years of demon tears waiting for this game which not too long ago seemed like an impossibility!
