Captain Marvel Response and Reactions

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
well there is your problem

Knowing what to expect and having reasonable expectations is not a "problem" lol

If I walk into a McDonalds I am not expecting the best burger I have ever had. Just like if I am walking into a Marvel movie I am not expecting Academy Award winner material. Its okay to have reasonable expectations. Its not a sin to enjoy an okay movie. Not every movie needs to be a 10/10. You don't need to have a life changing experience everytime you go to the theater.

well that is your problem not mine. if you dont want good shit then im not gonna fight you about it. when marvel presents its farts like cologne then you can make the argument. was black panther a decent movie on its own BUT also nominated for an academy award? yes it was. did it deserve it? nope. so then i can qualify these movies on the same level baby

man im good

It didn't deserve it in your opinion. And you are obviously entitled to that opinion. But don't talk down to the rest of us as if we are somehow lesser people than you for enjoying a comic book movie more than you did just because we knew not to expect groundbreaking material.

If you walk into McDonalds expecting fine dining and you leave disappointed that doesn't make you a better person than the people inside who are happily enjoying their Big Macs. It just means you didn't have reasonable expectations to begin with.

Naw. What he's saying is that if you walk into McDonalds and then get pissed because the burger wasn't Wagyu then you're probably a towering moron.

lmao dont defend him. let him speak for himself i know what he said and it was dumb and i pointed out he was stupid for saying it. you dont have to go down with the ship bud

they do. easily. man of steel was a shitty movie but it made superman feel invincible as well as the villians. they feel like they have an other worldly power. the marvel movies dont have the same quality to them. everyone feels really weak. you are equating the feeling of how powerful a movie makes the character with how good the actual movie is. which is what im not doing. its what youre doing. so youre looking especially stupid in the end

you’re being a character right now correct?

Oh. I genuinely thought he was a 12 year old for a bit there. If it's just an act then I think he should be applauded for his dedication to character.

As long as he remembers Tropical Thunder, it's all good.

yeah it’s clearly an act, and i agree he’s really sticking to his shtick here and that’s impressive.

Just checked his post history. He's been in character for ages. No wonder the performance is so...refined. Method actor. Definitely.

He clearly has been this character for a while i agree. He comes off so natural, no effort at all. Although i will say his obsession with “i won you lost” is already being played out and i’ve only been here for 30 mins.

He’s probably the type that if his S/O breaks up with him he’ll just tell them, “You’re just a loser anyway”. He’ll the proceed to talk to himself in a mirror about how he’s a winner and everyone else isn’t.

i dont have to look at your guys post history to know youre just a loser anyways. im a winner i know im a winner been born a winner. if you aint first you last baby

see now he’s starting to show his cracks. he’s really only good in small doses because he just keeps repeating the same thing now.

i had high hopes that he would have some truly original material but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

for someone that truly respects art he has no sense providing any of his own.

Can we please stop doing this? Just judge post and people based on your interation and not searching his/her history for faults and terrible posts....

This is really not much different from people searching years of Tweets of a person they do not like just to get them.

No, it's very different.

He always posts like he's posting in this thread. There's no variance, there's no improvement, there's no effort. You don't need to go looking for skeletons in his closet since he hangs his clothes in a veritable graveyard. Whatever your opinion of him: he's consistently him.

I checked his post history to find out if he ever takes a break. And no, he does not.

This post was written by someone who hasn't seen The Winter Soldier.

How can you say that is is weak or don't have quality in them?

The audience I was with only really reacted to the Blockbuster, anything Goose and the post-credits scenes. Your experience may vary, but what does it say about the rest of the movie if that is the case?

I can best describe this as another Marvel movie. If you like the MCU, you will probably find something to enjoy. If you don't, this movie will not change your mind.

It seems to me that the hunger for Endgame is very real, and I am curious to see how future films shake out after that.

The first act is a complete and utter mess, a borefest devoid of engaging set pieces, interesting dialogue or well defined characterisation.

The other two acts of the story are great, full of charismatic personalities, great story exposition, engaging character interactions, neatly tied together thanks to colourful choreography and swift pacing.

You could cut out the first third of this movie, and it would be a great movie. But that first third really, really drags it down.

I'm actually on the reverse of that. I thought the first third was better than the rest as the later two thirds was mostly devoid of meaningful character development/chemistry or exciting plot developments.

I think my whole list currently shapes up as:

Tier 1:
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War
Ant-Man

Tier 2:
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Iron Man
Doctor Strange
Captain America: Civil War
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Thor
Iron Man 3

Tier 3:
Thor: The Dark World
Thor: Ragnarok
Captain Marvel
Iron Man 2

Tier 4:
The Incredible Hulk

Never going to watch:
Spider-Man: Homecoming

Of these I only watched Iron Man 1 and 2. damn. Too many movies.

When a new Marvel movie drops, I'm always hoping for a big bomb, not because of controversy, but due to fatigue by the movie going public (similar to what we saw for Solo).

When they can dig down to 3rd and 4th tier superheroes and still make almost half a billion opening week, it doesn't give me much hope that the public is going to get tired of these mediocre, formulaic, retreads anytime soon.

I guess I just don't get the appeal -- maybe I'm too old, or my standards are too high because I was raised in home where my parents exposed me to great movies from a very young age?

Loved it. A very fun movie. I had no problem with Larson ( most critics sight her as the weak point) and I am sure she will grow more into the character over time.

She wasn't the worst part of the movie, but I didn't find her as dominating as Valkyrie. I feel like Tessa could lead a movie series better than Brie, as Brie's voice and stature are pretty lax. Brie seemed a bit mumbly and sarcastic which is not how I pictured Captain Marvel, the one person anti-everything missile. But hopefully she does grow into the role. I didn't hate it and I did like her, but tweaks need to be made.

Man of steel wasn't shitty, it was a very good movie. But this idea that superman can be taken out with exposure to kryptonian atmosphere, or that he's weak to magic(not in the movie but in modern comics), is BS.

Superman goes toe to toe with Brainiac and Darkside, doubtful he'd be weak to such common stuff. Kryptonite is supposed to be super rare. But cheap writers started making up additional weaknesses or so it seems.

I feel like kryptonite and magic kind of make sense though. Magic powers aren't measured on the same wavelength as your typical "Hulk strength" or "Captain Marvel photon blast" from what I always got from comics.

I can understand why Superman can withstand a nuclear blast, but I also understand how a powerful magical origin can transform him into a puppy, or whatever.

I know it is different universes but the Dr. Strange time-stone trick he utilizes in his movie would work just as well against Superman as it would Average Joe. Physical/elemental powers operate within our reality, magic powers can alter our reality.

Its only natural. I mean I see reviews now for Dr. No and the reviewers stating that Connery does not quite hit it out of the park as Bond in his first outing. All good things come in time I suppose.

I dunno. I just heard it on the radio just now. Either way, these are crazy numbers for a movie that sucks, and is supposed to fail.

I haven't seen it BTW. It just looks boring to me.
