Antonio Brown cancelled

The Steelers are dealing Brown to the Raiders in exchange for a third-round and fifth-round pick in April's draft. Brown will also get a reworked contract that makes him the NFL's highest-paid wide receiver, sources tell Rapoport.

Brown's new contract is for three years and $50.125M with a maximum value of $54.125M. He would receive $30.125M guaranteed, according to Rapoport. He was due no guaranteed money in his previous contract.

So many questions - all they could get was a 3rd and a 5th rounder? Why the hell are the Raiders shelling out so much money a year after gutting their roster? This deal makes it seem like there was essentially no market for AB.

Sounds like this had been in the works for a few days.

Would have been hilarious if he had been sent to Buffalo, I’ll take Carr over Allen any day.

Though there are those rumors that Gruden wants a new QB.

We will see how Brown produces outside of Pittsburg. I expect him to still be great, or at least very good.

Very odd what’s happened with several Steeler star players the last few seasons. Honestly makes me wonder how much control Mke Tomlin has over that locker room.

Edit:

That’s a huge contract.

After hearing their GM’s comments about Big Ben being basically above the rest of the team I can’t imagine Tomlin has much control.

I don’t understand what the Steelers are thinking allowing this situation to get so bad with both Bell and Brown - we’ll see how it works out next year I guess.

AB’s gonna have a TON of pressure to produce and put up his typical monster numbers. He’s insisted that he can do it without Rofflesburger, that he was putting up those stats because of how elite he is and not because of Ben.

I think he’s gonna be in for a surprise. We’ll see!

Ben turned Juju, a 6 foot 1 late 2nd round pick to one of the most dominant receivers in the league, dude put up 1400+ and that’s with AB getting a lot of the targets.

Antonio’s gonna miss how good he had it with Roffles.

The Steelers were really generous to him. This deal gets AB a lot of money, and doesn't get the Steelers much in exchange. I thought they'd hold out for a first-rounder, and make him sit until they get more.

The Killer B's were maybe the greatest trio ever. I think they'll all be really diminished separately.

I can’t help but wonder what the market really was. Cooper fetched a first round pick and AB is clearly a better player but he’s also older and more expensive.

I wonder if age and cap hit scares some teams away from AB.

And yeah it’s a shame that Bell, Brown, and Ben are no more.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Even if it’s one game the raiders (who we all thought would be good btw) need all the help they can get.

I was really hoping the 49ers would get their heads out of their asses and spend some of that fucking massive cap space to trade and sign Brown, but NOOOOPE. They don't like winning anymore.

I know Brown has ego issues, but he backs that up by generating massive numbers.

Brown destroyed his own market. That said, Brown's production and Shutter's so both fall off. Former cuz of a weaker QB. Latter because of no one to draw double teams off of him. Trade hurts everyone really.

kinda weird move for oakland personally. its not like AB made qbs better. His numbers took hits when ben was on the sideline not throwing to him.

they have so much else to develop as a rebuild team. a pricey aging egomaniac receiver isn't what they need rn.

would LOVE to see them flip him for more this season though. dunno if thats possible, but itd be beautiful

There absouletely was a market for AB. A 3rd and 5th rounder is what you get, when the President of the team says "we aren't keeping him and want to trade him" even though he was under contract. They helped lower the market for him.

If you subtract the number of teams that don't need a #1 Wide reciever. The Teams that cant handle his existing contract, The teams not willing to extend his current contract which he demands or wont show up, the teams who may not have a locker room that can hadle his ego and the Teams Pittsburgh wont do business with for there own reasons (i.e. division/conference rivals) the market shrinks pretty quick.

Just Today it was reported New England offered a 2nd & 4th and Pittsburgh turned them down

LOLOLOL!!!!!!!! Pittsburgh is trying their best to be worse next year. First they let Levon Bell go for nothing and now they are agreeing to worse deals to trade AB.

30 mil guaranteed over the next three years. If that’s hurting then hurt me all day.

He’ll probably see every dime of that 50 mil. His production will take a hit but he’ll remain one of the most targeted receivers and will make the most of his catchable balls like so few can (as well as he does it, I mean).

I don’t even like AB. This is just how I see it.

I could see 100 catches, 1200 yards, 10 TDS. Nothing to sneeze at.

Carr isn’t terrible.

Carr is actually an above average QB. They just need a good RB and yeah those numbers should be able to happen. The Raiders haven't had a WR with 1200 yards catching since 2002 in Jerry Rice and they haven't had a 100 catch WR since Tim Brown in 1997!!!!

Trade market. In reference to why they got so little.

I was gonna start an NFL 2019 OT since we aren’t officially in free agency but I am not good at creating detailed threads like that

Raiders have already added Trent Brown, Snacks Harrison, and Antonio Brown. I keep checking my twitter to see if Broncos have made a move yet. Raiders also have three first round picks. We gotta at least not be worst in Division next year

Do it! Who cares about detail - no one reads the OP after the first page is over anyway.

Landon Collins signing a 6 year, 84 million deal with Giants’ rival the Washington Redskins.

Lot of people wanted him here in Denver but we can’t afford that

Nick Foles to Jaguars

So basically a 2-year contract for $25 million per season. That's big-time QB money! WOW!!! With this defense they "HAVE" to get to the playoffs next year now.

Terrell Suggs goes to the Arizona Cardinals, returns to the state where he was amazing at ASU in college. Former broncos head coach Vance Joseph is the Cardinals defensive coordinator now, nice piece for him to pair with Chandler Jones

Nothing on Earl Thomas yet
Nothing on L. Bell yet
Nothing on N. Suh yet

Desean Jackson traded back to Philly, where he came into the league

Very interesting move. It sounded like he was gonna be cut.

For what the compensation was, I would of rather cut him.

Eagles got: D-Jax & a 2020 7th round pick
Bucs got: 2019 6th round pick

(maybe a mod or OP can change topic title and just make this the offseason OT or something)

I would love to see the Broncos sign Honey Badger. Not sure we can afford Earl Thomas. It feels very quiet out here in Dove Valley, no key free agents are even “linked to the Broncos” throughout social media updates.

Interesting.

Lot of talk around here that the Buccs are locked into drafting Devin White from LSU now that Kwon is gone (rhymes).

It’s speculation here because Broncos fans wanted White at number 10. If White is gone I see us going Devin Bush from Michigan or best o-line available

Soon as I mention Honey Badger for Broncos he signs a three year deal with the Chiefs. 14 mil per year

Damn. Matthieu and Berry in that defensive backfield

I can report the thread requesting a title change - any ideas for a funny tag line? I know it’s a GAF tradition but my imagination is terrible :)

I’m terrible at that.

I got nothin.

Maybe something like Chucky’s Revenge, since Gruden is making big moves with Raiders

That is a ridiculous assessment. You still have Jordy Nelson who can play, Seth Roberts who is clutch and Jared Cook that has Carr has good chemistry with.

Cooper's inconsistent play made him a poor number 1 receiver, who couldn't dare the secondary to take him seriously. With Brown, the raiders are able to run a more aggressive offense, and should perform much better on 3rd downs.
