No Man Sky Tease From Sean Murray

I'd also be interested to know, if I'm lucky enough to have any subs for my Youtube channel here, whether you would mind me also adding a little NMS content to my Dreams content. I've put up a poll for that very reason, so feel free to vote. I'll put that at the end. But anyway, onto the tease:

The Switch is small ... just sayin'

And the poll I mentioned:

Switch incoming! ;)

Give NMS another try. It’s actually very, very good these days. I bought it again (yes again lol) when it hit Xbox and it’s night and day in differences, so much so I couldn’t stand the PS4 release (the game, not the system). I gave it another chance, and I was so glad I did.

Yeah, it's actually quite funny seeing comments from people who don't know this. It's frigin' HUGE now. The reason I stopped playing was because it used to be singleplayer only and then it was singleplayer with multiplayer content and now it's multiplayer with singleplayer content. The 'loneliness' just seemed to be sucked out of it and that was the reason I loved it. I think I might jump back in though ... if this update adds more singleplayer content and allows me to feel 'lonely' again.

Are people still hating on Sean Murray? The dude redeemed himself with the past two free expansions.

Dude’s a pathogical liar. Spent years bullshitting everyone and making up blatant lies and false statements in every interview.

I don’t hate him, but I don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth and never will. So when I see news about him, I tend to just ignore what he says.

If he was so intent on staying silent, he wouldn’t have sent out that tweet, even if a “leak” was about to drop from another source.

Liked nsm from start from when alk so hated it i get his idea and game for what it was. Not all updates was for me but for most part its now better game. Though using some mods on pc to make it even more as i want.
Wonder what that update will be, im still waiting some day that AI npc's starts to living on planets walking on them real time some friendly some not but that would be new layer for me
Whats missing for me still in game is more randomness more survival and to care for something more then just reach center of galaxy.

Definitely won't be a Switch version lol. The game runs like crap on a high end PC so what chance does a Switch have?

I'm done with this game. Respect to them for supporting the game and turning it around.

It runs perfectly well on midle gtx 1060 laptop on 1080p no probs at all. It could be switch version no problems with lower settings and 720p. Low end gpu on pc could run game on 720p so would be good enough for switch

Yeah, if it did come to the Switch it would likely be 720p/30fps but it would still look great.

Dude's also a relatively young guy that led a very small studio to a game that blew up in hype and subsequently got unanimously hated by the same hysterical people who pretend to know what "pathological lying" means. Since those days his team didn't quit on the game and managed to build a decent fanbase around it.

I really wish people would research before they spread their ignorance all over threads. It's infuriating and rather embarrassing.

I mean, Sean Murray and No Man's Sky earned the vitriol from gamers regardless of the free stuff they have put out. They blatantly lied about their game leading up to it's release with Sony being complicit in it as well. You can try to obfuscate the truth all you want but your trying to call people ignorant and say it is embarrassing is not going to change what happened, so deal with it and stop trying to make Sean Murray seem like a saint.

Noone lied about it he just told what was in his mind what game he wanted to make and well we all can imagine different things. Like reading sci fi book one can imerse in it fully and relive all thats happening there and other just dont care or dont have capacity or enough imagination to do it. NMS was that thing for me it was as murray have said but because book is all about story lacking any story in game made it very empty and fast boring. But i idea still was there and noone can be like NMS, no elite dangerous no star citizen.

I guess you enjoy being taken advantage of! Good to see how forgiving you are.

Pathological lying can be described as a habituation of lying. It is when an individual consistently lies for no personal gain.

Old buddy Sean Murray already has his publishing deal, he already has backing from Sony, he's already got everything going right for him, but he just can't stop accepting interview invitations, and he just couldn't help himself when it came to overselling virtually every single feature of the game.

There where no lies from what he told at all thing that is missing is more depth story elements and quests. It was too open too large and with that just too much. I get how now hes pleasing more of what people wanted but thats not what i needed anyway i still like some older builds of game where you could find fallen ships on planets and repair then easily and get free weapons from some aliens. That was a thing for me to find all fallen ships on one planet and later it changed to maybe pleased other people i guess.
Its more like real universe and black holes black matter its just too much for brain to understand all that its just too much too large. Similar as this game is just too big and too boring for most

The only lied about feature that is still missing (at least a major one) are orbits / proper solar systems with planets rotating around a sun. That was never in the game nor was it in any developer build they had (no matter what they claim, it‘s a blatant lie).
Oh and they also still have to add the „see that star? you can put your controller down and fly there“ thing is missing too, you hit an invisible sandbox wall after a while.

Everything else they added in, the MP portion is insane.

This has to be sarcasm. Blaming gamers for the game not being what we wanted now? That is a whole new level of victim blaming.

You don't need to hate on him. Just don't believe a word he says, ever.

But why wouldn't you believe him? He promised things for the Pathfinder update and we got more than he promised, he promised things for the Foundation update and we got more than he promised, he promised things for the Atlas Rises update and we got more than he promised, he promised things for the NEXT update and we got more than he promised. They've surpassed what they ever promised NMS would be. It's really telling that people still concentrate on what wasn't there at launch (that now is) but forget the dozens and dozens of additions that were never promised at launch.

I would have thought the answer pretty obvious. tbh. I suspect none of these people has likely played it since the original launch (if even then). The NPCs of gaming forums, forever locked in their loops of redundant outrage.

I love no man's sky and I play it since day one. I agree that the launch was very problematic and many features of the game were missing but since then they released 5 free expansions full of content.

While I don't agree with every changes that the game received since launch, NMS is still the game I play when I want to relax and chill on strange worlds, alone or with friends.

If the update is just to tease a Switch port... Fine by me. More people playing nms the better.

I wonder what else they can bring to the game at this point.

I played NMS on the cheap after its relaunch but never really got into it. The cosmos is interesting enough though kinda samey, but movement through the environment just never grabbed me. For my repetitive, empty-planet, explore-em-ups, I much prefer the Starlink's arcadey approach.

That said, I'll be interested to hear what he has to say. It is really neat that his team has worked so hard to rescue their game from the jaws of overhype and unfulfilled pre-launch promises.

I'm hoping they improve caves. We've had freighters, frigates, ringed planets and better space battles added, we've had better creature models, animations and environments added for land, we've had huge improvements added for under water too. Whilst the caves now feel far more spacious and realistic, they do lack animals and reasons for us to explore them.

as a player with at least 1000 hours in no man's sky, I only ask for more variety. More biomes, plants, animal parts, exotic planets, etc
From a gameplay point of view I'd like for them to revamp and give meaning to the combat system. Maybe giving us the chance to carry two different multitools, improve the shooting feeling and making some procedural abandoned bases or space hulks, full of enemies and loot at the end ( ship parts, quicksilver...)
And one more, give the chance to player with tons of in-game money to dismantle and store components on ships and multitools. Having to scrap and rebuild every component from the single elements just to try a new weapon is boring. Too much farming for the same, repeated action

I really liked the game at launch and it's got so much content now I couldn't keep up.

Mistakes were made before launch & certain things were said and shown which in the end were too ambitious at the time. Towards release Sean did try ro put the breaks on the hype train but it had well and truly left the planet. Most of those things promised now exist in No Mans Sky. I like Sean. We all make mistakes and he and his team have never abandoned their game.

Unfortunately the reaction it got is the reason I am often ashamed to let on to people that my main hobby is gaming.

Fair point. The caves do feel a bit pointless, but once you give players the ability to carve a way out, no matter where they are, the adventure of spelunking is kind of lost. Then again, that didn't hurt minecraft any.

That there was one of the very reasons I started falling out of love with NMS. Throw in being able to call your ship and it was goodbye survival for me. That's why they've had to up the difficulty of weather. To try and compensate for removing risks. They balanced the game for multiplayer ... no doubt about it.

lol. fuck sean murray and his bullshit. if he honestly just said his game was a worse minecraft in space i wouldnt have a problem

its not a space adventure. its just a context-less sandbox.
You obviously haven't see what it has become atm...
Two years ago I would have thrown all the shit of the world at his face for him throwing all these bullshit at us, but after it's release, the game has done "a realm reborn" on us for completely free, when any other company would had taken the money and run! Unlike other broken games like Destiny that only received paid DLCs and each ask for more money, they've spend the last 2 years adding to the game much more than the initial trailer has promised, free of charge!
Now in the game your objective list becomes so cluttered that you'd wish for less stuff to do.

After the fiasco, they only release info they know they can deliver, at most a couple of weeks in advance. From all the devs that tease stuff to come, he is the last person who would dare to tweet something he can't deliver!

I remember buying the game retail for 10€ just after NEXT was released...i played the game for a couple of days without updating it to experience the original game everybody was complaining about and...wow, it was a journey, an hilarious one XD

I guess it's because i never had any hype for this game, not being my genre...but I followed all the interview and the footage and I can see why some fans were upset by the end result (ending included). As for myself, I just had pure, awkard fun.

"Unfortunately" i had to update it, but i've yet to play this upgraded form.
If it's just an update, i'll give it a try when it drops. If it's a Switch port (it'll not)...well, good stuff i guess, i won't buy it a second time, especially not now that the hilarious stuff is gone.

I have a high-ish PC and it runs great.

At this point, the haters are just caricatures of themselves.

The biggest problem for me with NMS is that it's boring to no end. That and the endless grind of materials essential for such basic things as breathing. All the cool things that you can do in this game get old really fast. I had some hope that with the new expansions the game will become somewhat interesting, but I was wrong. 90% of the game comprises of walking, harvesting, using up resources, more walking and harvesting. It's slighlty more interesting than watching grass grow.

I was gonna buy it, but that price tag killed it for me. No way I was spending another 40-50 dollars on NMS again. I honestly forgot what the price was at launch on the Xbox, but I saw you could get it for 19 dollars on PS4 at the time. I already payed $500 for a performance bump with the X. I simply couldn't do it again. Even though I'm saying this, I am a bit curious. You said night and day? How so?

That's odd because lots of PC gamers play the game and stream it without any trouble.
Its weird because i have a good solid PC, and the game ran like shit at times. Sometimes it ran fine, but other times the framerate would be all over the place, especially when flying over the planet.

The game has had some bad optimization at times. It ran like shit after the last major update, I haven't tried it since.

I tried it not long ago, and it was still the same for me. I say 'weird' because i have seen Youtube vids of people running the game on worse PC's than mine and it ran fine.

No?

He's just a game developer without PR. Welcome to all development.

This is why we have PR at studios, because if you let developers talk they'll just state everything before it gets approved. There is no game out now without major cuts, its just you usually don't hear about it.
