The Division 2 |OT| Now a wall can stop Washington's fall

The firing range is amazing, have you guys seen it? o_O

Holy crap it's perfect for a game like this! Min/Maxing your build and how you play will be insane!

I got a chest piece yesterday which is from a gearset I haven't seen anywhere. Some really awesome stats.

Edit

Here's my dude right now

I think I'm dumb or something, but I can't find how to you use emotes in game on ps4

It's different this time around.

In D1 when you released the selected emote, by letting go of the analogue stick, the emote would play.

Now you need to press X to activate the emote, while still holding the analogue stick in the desired emote direction.

I honestly don't see why they changed this, it added an unnecessary layer to the process in my opinion.

I'm overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to do. I'm 15 hours in and far from endgame yet. Even if endgame turns out to be shit i think the game is worth it.

I don't care about the story. Every mission, be it main or side ones, have been enjoyable due to enemy encounters and setting.

I have some small criticisms though. The way NPCs wait till you are at the right range to engage in skirmish with each other. It feels like you're watching them staging a fight.
And the sound is weird. I'm not sure if it's my set up. Loud rain pouring outside, step indoors, rain sound suddenly stops. And sometimes i can't hear gunshots a few meters away from me.

And i'm sorry, but this gender equality in the apocalypse just breaks my immersion. It feels like 70% of the enemies are women. And 90% of the people in charge are women.
I don't want to sound anti-SJW. But it feels so forced. "Look at all these strong woman of color barking orders left and right."

I love this game, but I think my biggest issue with it is the story.

I realize story isn't something a lot of looter shooter fans care about and I generally agree, but I really loved The Division 1 in that regard.

I still have some story content to do, but so far, the phone conversations, echoes, memorable characters like Joe Ferro and Paul Rhodes are just subpar compared to the first game.

If that was the sacrifice for these (generally) amazing side missions, then I'm OK with it long-term.

Holy mother of god, that Cheat Code Central review of this game is beyond savage.

56/100. Lol
From the "review" --> "If you took a magnifying glass to the story, things got uncomfortable though. It essentially endorsed police violence against looters during a state of emergency. Luckily for everyone who wasn’t down with that vibe, The Division 2 doubles down on that in a way that makes the whole experience feel like violent right wing survivalist porn. "

Then look at the pic of the reviewer. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I will not be putting any stock in their opinion.

I remember that criticism from Division 1. It was actually a prominent criticism here at GAF if I remember right.

But I don't see how it's even relevant with Division 2. The Hyenas and Outlaws are nothing like the Looters or Rikers.

If that's the best the team-lead writer has to offer I feel bad for the rest of the team, can we get an actual review of the game instead of his own shitty opinions about politics? Geez.

I'm about 8 hours in so far, the game is really well made. So far I think I've been enjoying solo the most, it's just so nice to be able to take in the atmosphere and immersion. I guess it'll be equally awesome if you find someone who's equally willing to do that and taking it slow without running into every situation like Joe Rambo.

Oh shit, I didn’t read that part. Okay, opinion doesn’t count anymore. See ya, next!

I fucking hate politics in video games, period — especially these whiny little journalist turds that push their agenda onto everything they play and write about.

cormack12 cormack12 Great job on the OT. Thank you.

I am enjoying the game way more than one because this time around playing solo is actually exciting. There's loot and things to explore everywhere. I get to choose if I want to participate on a group or just tackle something by myself.

cant wait to jump in later, I originally ordered the basic version a few months ago and I was going to switch to the gold version but my GCU ran out in the meantime and i refused to pay full price (negating the 20% off the base game) solely on principle.

Anyway Im usually on 11pm-1am est, psn bucyou55

They had a private beta where you could be invited, then an open beta for 4 days where you could even sample high-level specializations. People should know what they're getting into.

As far as that "review" that was posted above, I believe the game will be getting around the 80 mark on Metacritic. The strongest point being the firefights and gunplay(so basically the gameplay), the music, and also the atmosphere. Narrative is lacking, to the point where most of the time they don't even go for a cutscene, it's just some audio playing from a phone. I told my brother while we were playing that they probably have the numbers for that from the first game and most people are probably storming through the levels and don't even bother. I skip them or talk over them like Mystery Science Theater.

I've played over 20hrs in just the past few days and it's still escalating in fun and intensity. Can't say enough about the awesome music and intense skirmishes. Love it.

Yeah I agree that story seemed to have taken a step back this time around, but the gameplay and world/environmental depth took a step up in return.

I still remember some specific echoes from D1, in D2 I barely pay attention to them at this point

I see a lot of folks complaining about crashes on PC unfortunately :/

Are you running on DX12? If so try running on DX11.
I play on DX12 but I just played for 5 hours straight without crashing. So no idea why it happened before.

The crashes with DX12 are weird.

Tuesday I no-lifed it and had zero crashes.

Thursday night I had so many crashes in a row I was ready to quit.

What a great game. Genuinely surprised at how much fun it is to play. They've addressed so many of the points from the first game. It's simply fun to run around and do stuff - the first game never nailed that.

I imagine the usual hipsters will appear in the press to knock a Ubisoft game, but I'm thoroughly impressed.

Stupid question. Is there anyway on pc to simply use mouse clicks in the inventory? I hate having to use space bar to select.

What happens if you fail a bounty that's unlocked through Projects? I had one (Meat...something target in the first zone) and I died during the encounter and it disappeared afterwards. Any way to get it back?

I think I died at the same bounty, and I didn’t see a way to restart it

so far I am enjoying the game. a bunch of my online friends have it and we end up playing together. the coop experience is really nice. The story is throwaway tier but it does break things up nicely. I didn't play the first but I feel glad I got this one so far

I've failed bounties and I believe they disappear. In the tips during loading screens, they said that a high-level bounty target can steal your stuff, too. Don't know if they mean PvE or PvP. I didn't notice anything missing.

Oh man that Cheat Code Central review, oof. Why are they even still a thing, let alone reviewing games? It was so clear from the very opening paragraph that the reviewer either hasn't played the game and is going off PR/gameplay videos or they are playing it and have not even come close to end content because there is literally 0 mention of anything content-wise outside of a "yeah there are dark zones." Good job idiot.

Anyway, I'm finally able to sit down and push some hours into this and I am so excited. I loved the first one but dropped it after a month or so due to lack of engaging content but this seems to be Ubisoft going "no, we listen" and really delivering. I am so keen.

My awesome brother Solarstrike Solarstrike gifted me the PC "Ultimate Edition" of the game.
I'm liking it a lot. I did experience my first hard crash error code "watchdog" or something like that. It hard locked my entire computer
prompting a reboot. That was a bit scary but everything seems o.k.

I'm running everything maxed in DX12 at 2560x1440 @165hz and averaging 80fps. I'm still "low" level. Think I just hit level 6
when it hard crashed.

While it looks amazing, I still think Division 1 looked better. I can't quite put my finger on it but I just feel it's "missing" something graphics wise.

It looks to have a ton of content and I'm trying to knock out the side missions when they pop up as fast as I can. I do like that NPCs actually
fight along side you at different times and the dynamic nature of the encounters. Haven't really encountered any weather features. I read
above that someone couldn't see when the storm hit. Every time I've played it's been clear night or day. I did have one session where light
rain started but that's been the extent of it.

See you out there agents!

So third time same beginning but part of intro was new at least . Just bought game yesterday for 45 euros.
It runs ok all maxed maybe just shadows lower then max on 1080p runs ok with gtx 1060 laptop when i added 8gb more ram to 16gb all now runs well no stutters no nothing. Just shooting with ps4 controller is not so precise sure so lots bullets go wasted or AI just better covering now, but it feels lots more that assouly rifles goes all over places the longer you shoot which is more realistic in the way i guess. Enjoying game. Like beggining at low leveles when you got just guns and gear on everycorner just to try new stuff thats cool for me. Shame that later it ends and you more like running with same gun over and over.
Im only at lvl 3 and game crashed 2 times allready or servers crashed it. Almost never happened on ps4 with D1. Wonder if its a PC thing.
And game looks just amazing just look at all those trash on streets abandoned cars and grass trees all flying rubish puddles mud its just looks great i enjoy view for sure. And thats after playing metro and FCnew dawn this rly stands out with all details and animations.

I try to avoid commenting on specific reviews, but boy, that Cheat Code Central review is really quite the piece of creative writing. Thanks for the laugh, folks.

Already had two straight to desktop crashes just walking around on PC.
Yeah, DX12 has caused me some issues. DX11 doesn't crash, but the performance hit is quite noticeable, even on my high end machine. I was crashing every 15-20 minutes. The best work around I've found so far - and please note that it doesn't fix the crashes, but it'll give you about 60 minutes before it crashes - is the following:
Find your "TheDivision2.exe" in your install folder, and right click on it. Go to "Properties", followed by the "Compatibility" tab. Tick 'Disable Fullscreen Optimisations'. Then click 'Change high DPI settings'. Tick the last option, 'Override High DPI scaling behaviour'. From the drop down box, select 'Application'. Save it. Now, disable the in-game overlay for UPlay or which ever launcher you're playing through. This got my crashes down to about once an hour instead of every 15 minutes. Hope it helps you, too.

The 4 or 5 hours I played yesterday with two friends were one of the best gaming experiences I had. We are all way over 30 and felt like children again.
I love that the enemies do their best to draw you out and pressure you from all sides, this makes it so exciting to play. And there is so much to do. Can't wait to play more today.

I just need to find something to do in game when my friends aren't online yet. Maybe answer some calls for help...

Same here. Best thing for me is that I went into the game with very tempered expectations because I played the first one (+the beta) so I roughly knew what I was getting into. But the game's been absolutely killing it so far - it's even a huge step up from the beta - performance is better, it looks a bit better (did they tweak ui and AA a bit?) and I haven't had a single audio glitch yet. Outstanding experience so far.

so servers are down ... why ?
Bug fixes
  • Implemented a fix that should reduce occurrences of client crashes when using skills
  • Fixed an issue where players could be stuck in the wrong World Tier if they completed Strongholds without meeting the required Gear Score while in a group
  • Fixed an issue where players wouldn’t be able to talk to agent Kelso at the Castle Settlement
  • Fixed an issue where players could obtain multiple Ivory Keys from the same source
  • Fixed an issue where map progress would not be saved when completing Open World activities and Side missions in another players’ instance.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed players to loot Supply Drops multiple times
  • Fixed a bug where players could buy blueprints repeatedly at the vendors by logging out and back in
  • Fixed an issue where combining the Dialed in talent with the Emet Mask could lead to greatly increased Accuracy and Stability
