“The Dead Don’t Die” - zombie-movie starring Kylo Ren and Ghostbusters Guy

Kylo Ren and Ghostbusters Guy join forces with Childish Gambino’s dad, the girl who blew her real life director-actor boyfriend on screen for real in some weird indie movie, Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend, the bald lady from Doctor Strange, and Steve Buscemi in order to fight a growing zombie threat!

Will evil prevail? Will they use The Force? Will they cross the streams? When will The Predator show up? Is the Ancient One wearing a wig and are people still mad that she’s white? Will Steve Buscemi suffer from rebound Space Dementia?

Only time will tell!

Also has the dude from X-Men: First Class who yelled really loudly and looks like the dude from Harry Potter but isn't the dude from Harry Potter.

Oh, and Iggy Pop!

Lust For Life - The Prodigy remix (Rest in Peace, Keith)

Directed by Jim Jarmusch

I know Danny and Donald Glover aren’t related. It’s a joke.

In all seriousness I’ll typically see anything involving Bill Murray. Count me in

Jarmusch has made a couple films I really enjoyed, namely Broken Flowers and Only Lovers Left Alive.

I like the vibes coming from this but I feel like it lacks punch. I want to like it more and I hope it's actually good once I see it.

When I first found out Dann--Donald? Donald. The younger one. When I first found out Donald Glover existed, I thought he had to be Danny's son. Imagine my surprise when I saw no connection between their Wikipedia pages. Turned out I was just racist.
So Bill Murray's in two zombie movies this year? Two zombie comedies? Nice.

Jarmusch can go either way for me. There's a chance this will be really good and a welcome understated, more personal entry into the zombie library, and there's a chance it's going to be shoegazing, pretentious garbage.

Have you seen many/any of Jarmusch's other films? He seems to go with a more "understated" tone. I know what you mean.
I haven't seen his other work but I like what I'm hearing about the understated tone. Knowing that it's intentional gives me a better feeling that this could be a real comfy watch.

Also, Selena Gomez is looking SUPER CUTE in this.

Agreed. I can honestly say that his movies are either my favorite of that year or trash.

Looks good but the movie might have a hard time being funnier than your OP JareBear: Remastered JareBear: Remastered thats going to be some big shoes to fill. I especially enjoyed that Steve Buscemi doesn't get any nicknames he is just Steve Buscemi LOL.

But I am always down for a Zombie movie, especially a comedy one.

This movie sucked. It is a big social commentary dressed as a zombie movie/comedy, that doesn’t work in any aspect. My hipster friends who apparently love the director, tried to tel me it was bad “on purpose”.

I had a few laughs at the beginning, but the abrupt ending with half of the plot not resolved, left me feeling I wasted my time watching it.

I haven’t seen it, but knowing Jarmusch’s directing style, I can imagine what you mean.

Regarding the social commentary, isn’t social commentary a big aspect of many/most zombie movies?

bad movie. Not sure what I just watched. Its not funny, nor is it scary. Zombies are almost not even really part of the story, oh and there is no story. No character arcs, and half the cast is basically useless and could be removed from the movie making 0 difference.

And the social commentary??? I guess it was supposed to be anti fraking/global warming, and uhmm Trump because a guy wears a MAGA hat that say make america white again? Supposdly he is a racist but outside of that hat and not liking black coffee I don't remember anything he does racist.

I have no idea what this movie was supposed to be. I thought it was going to be some sort of dark city/cabin in the woods thing but it never went in that direction

Selena Gomez and her friends have no point to the story. They show up go to a gas station, hotel, and die thats it. Then they spend a bunch of scene with the kids at the detention center and then they just hide? All 6 of those people could of been left out of the movie. There was no payoff or anything for any of them.

Tilda's character again ??? Ok she is set up as mysterious and weired, but then she is an alien ?? Like OK WTH? So an alien who is an Undertaker samurai budhist? And she phones home and is beemed up by the UFO. Was she here to warn us, doing experiments I don't know maybe I missed it along the way?

And ya UFO out of nowhere. NEver explained if thats why there are Zombies or the fracking or what.

Most of the movie is just Driver and Murray talking about nothing, and neither have any character or arc. No intresesting back story, no change from the begining to the end of the movie. We learn nothing in all the scenes they have in the car. Nada Zip.
I mean at the end they go out and kill some Zombies, but it was never established that they are scared cops of failures and htis it their big triumph or anything. There was no arc or payoff.

There was a whole bunch of 4th wall breaking. The odd thing about the song always being played and everyone loving it. The whole weird distortions of the radio/TV, electronics not working. It felt like there was going to be a twist. They were in an experiment, or it was a movie and they knew it or something. Instead nope Zombies caused by fraking, and oh for some reason there is a Alien and UFO but never mind that it has nothing to do with this movie.

Just a boring unfunny, unscary movie.

Thanks to the cast and the attention it got from that, this movie will get a lot of hate by those not used to Jarmusch viewing it for that reason. Ironically it's probably one of his more conventional films?

The problem with this brand of social commentary is that it dilutes complex issues and offers nothing smart to say. It tries to be clever but it fails miserably. According to my friends, if you are a fan of the director, you’ll dig the movie., and the movie was “bad on purpose”.
I didn’t like Captain Marvel, but at least that crap had a proper conflict resolution.

So I don't understand what the social commentary in the movie was?

Fraking is bad and will cause Zombies? Farmers are racist because they don't like their coffee black?

the whole fracking story is just in the background and feels like its going to lead to something but like everything in this movie it doesn't go anywhere and could of been 100% cut from the movie and would of made no difference at all.

Yeah I’m kinda bummed out by what I’m hearing. Maybe I expected too much from this. I do usually dig Jarmusch’s style so maybe I’ll still like it. The trailer and cast had me thinking this would be a winner but that doesn’t seem to be the case, unfortunately.

I’ll still check it out when I get a chance
