That's a lot of money to flush down the toilet.
Right. They should just give all to., Ninja Theory and use them as a training company. They obviously have the over the shoulder, tree rendering farm down to a science, since Hellblade looks like every other first party PS game.

Pretty soon we can make sure all games on all systems look the same if MS has invested their money right,

Hopefully some serious time was spent on the multi-player. Going to need quality maps along with good gameplay. If they fail again Microsoft should think about replacing 343i.

Multi player was not where H5 was lacking, in fact I would compare it to 3 and maybe 2.

The multiplayer was where H5 rises above the others. It was a true return to form.

I hope they expand upon the already great multiplayer and can make a worthy campaign to compliment it.

I thought it was average at best and played nothing like halo. Didn't help that all the maps were bad.

We will see. Halo’s aim should be to be THE console shooter, not just a solid game among a sea of many. It is supposed to be Xbox’s biggest IP but it hasn’t felt that way since 3.

I disagree. Halo 4 I can get that but 5 felt like the right mix of old school and modern refinement to me.

I like the new feel of the arena gameplay, and I hope they keep it and tweak it.

Spoken like someone who loves Armor Lock and calling in a SAW.

That is where Halo got bad. 🤓
tbh i only disliked 5 and that weird halo 3 spinn off game forgot the name (i bought it thinking it was halo 3)

Money doesn’t equal quality, sadly.

However... 4 had some great ideas executed poorly. 5 had a terrible single player but an awesome multiplayer.

I’m confident they know what they did wrong and are applying that to a new halo. The trouble is that now, people expect them to fail out of the gate, when in reality this is the strongest the teams ever been, and they actually know what they need to both do and not do.

Whether it changes things though, that remains to be seen. But I am excited about the future of the series.

500 $ means GAAS. Long loot shooter with content spread for at least 5 years. Anyway if the game is good its gonna be the first time in 10 years that I feel interested in MS game. I really want MS to have something meaningfull to say in gaming again.

Also don’t forget this is a cross gen game made mostly for the next Xbox, so if course prices will rise. It’s not some bang and it’s done affair.

A game like halo is weird. The trend nowdays for shooters is to or skip singleplayer or not spend to much time on it. But with halo.. the backlash of removing single player would me insane. And the games single player quality is so so important for.its succes. While most shooters can cut costs on it. Microsoft cant

4s problem is that it is a fun game but a bad halo. The balance is horrible for starters. Ordinance drops sucks, you don't descope on shot which makes a good player untouchable, some of the abilities are way better then others, and the boltshot on spawn is lol. The legendary starts at least get rid of the majority of this in mcc.

Personally I don't need modern. I play the old halos just fine just not as good as I use to be.

EA bragged about the budget of Star Wars: The Old Republic, too. They assured us "it'll be just like the classic Bioware you love", too.

I don't trust the Halo brand anymore, but the older games are still fun.

More people are playing battlefront 2 and fallout 76 than halo 5. And that shit is free on gamespass.

If halo pvp was as good as ever it’s standing would be better... it’s age doesn’t matter especially when considering the longevity and placement of games like destiny and rainbow six siege.

It doesn’t matter about the money invested. 343.... LOL. It’s easier to be more excited about everything else ms has coming down the pike that’s not halo.

Man, just to think about it - how much the game will have to sell to even break even? Half a billion just for the development, marketing will add at the very least another 100M. I think I know where the name "Infinite" comes from - H:I will actually be a platform with continuous support, just like W10 is, where they will keep adding chapters of the story, spin-offs, new MP modes etc., instead of releasing completely new installments every few years. That's the only justification I can find on spending such fortune on a single title.

Every single ms release moving forward is to increase the overall value and revenue streams of gamespass. So I would definitely consider changing what the metric for success is here.

Halo will be the first major gamespass release. Not forza

Lets think about this.

343i has 450 employees.

That means $500,000,000 for 4 years would be on average every employee getting $277,700 per year. For ALL employees. I have a hard time believing that. What are they spending the money on if this is just development cost as the rumor says? Bonnie Ross's golden parachute?

i dunno what to think of infinite, but i can tell you now being so secretive about it in this age isn't very smart

not releasing whatever the multiplayer is now and iterating on it isn't very smart

especially considering 343 kinda sucks
Or you know nothing. They gave 0 information on RDR 2 for a very long time and that turned out just fine.

I don't see +$500million going for a single player, linear-leveled game. It has to be an open-world Halo. I am shook. :pie_starstruck:

I thought Halo was dead.

With every update MCC is reaching perfection (including its upcoming PC release), more comics and novels on the horizon, and the show in production, the franchise is coming back in the biggest way possible.

Microsoft PR putting in work. So many Halo threads and little bits of wishful hype rumors in the past couple weeks/months ever since the MCC news, all trying to push some sort of narrative that HALO IS BACK BABY even though it isnt 2007 anymore.

Not surprising.... Halo is a large budget title and they also build an entirely engine developed from the ground up.

For it to be worth that kind of money the game had better be some Mario 64 level insane groundbreaking jaw-dropping shit.

I'm skeptical, both that this rumor is true at all, and if it is, that the output will reflect the investment.

Still, if they're smart enough to (finally) start fixing MCC, and put it on PC, AND choose Steam, I'm cautiously optimistic that the effort to put this franchise back on track is legitimate.

I'm pretty much good either way. If the new game is incredible, great. If it's not, thanks for giving me MCC on PC. The last Halo I played was 3, so I'm looking forward to playing Reach.

Destiny had that budget planned for the entire 10 year franchise plan including marketing. This supposedly has it right now for just the development of this one game.

That is absolutely bonkers. MS could have bought several developers but they are spending it all on Halo.

Hopefully the tech 343 created can be used by all their dev teams.

The mp honestly bored me to death so I guess different strokes for different folks. I think thy need to focus more on the mp, bring new things and life into it and start off next Gen with a bang.

Does it include the new engine they are building with the game? If so, it kinda makes sense why the budget is really high, game engines are insanely expensive to create and maintain.

My idea was big budget doesn't mean good game. Even if we are breaking new records here.
When you have such a big budget, there's probably much more control in place and way less place to creativity as you cannot really mess up.

But we don't know enough to go to any conclusion, so I hope we can see more soon.

Contrary to a lot of people (for some reason), I thought Halo 5 was an amazing game, but fuck it feels like that was so long ago, there's never been a Halo game I don't enjoy and I'm not really a big fan of FPS, there's just something about it, well I would say Halo 4 was the lowest point, but 5 was really good and the coop was a blast. I will be here day one for the new one.

Even if this had a ridiculous marketing amount included, i have a hard time believing this. I mean what could actually cost this much?, are 343 going to the strip club every night?.
Even Scam Citizen with its 50 year dev schedule and 80 studios working on the game, isnt anywhere close to this amount.

Seeing as how big this is gonna big; this is called Halo: Infinite, that might account for it having some space traveling mechanic... procedural generation maybe? Where others have failed Halo is gonna succeed maybe?

It's gonna be called Infinite, have the biggest budget on any media project ever to only be set on Earf? I doubt it.

One thing I'm certain of is I cannot fu**ing wait for release day.
