Yeah i'm not hyped at all for this game. Yet another brown and grey zombie game is not something that makes me excited.

That's never a good sign for a game.
If developers where confident about their games, the embargo would have been lifted a lot sooner.

That's what common sense says, but history shows tons of times those games end up reviewing great.

I miss the days of Half Life 2, Halo, Generals, God of War 1 etc, garbage games these days, just about hype and graphics at 30fps cause that sells better.

I remember when I was in resetera a tons of thread like 'I tired of open worlds' or 'stop the open world games' or even 'after playing Witcher 3 I get tired of walking simulator'... Well until Nintendo release the trailer of BOTW and boom.

Expecting at least an 85+ OC score. Was predicting the review embargo to be Tuesday April 23rd so I was off two days and MK 11 releases that day so better off waiting two days.

Also, Sony may want to give reviewers a few extra days because has anyone even received their review code yet? If not, definitely makes sense. Don't want an earlier embargo if it means reviewers will rush the game in order to have their review posted.

Sticking with my high 70s to mid 80s MC, if I were actually pick a number probably 83. If it scores in that range or higher, I would not be surprised by it being a mini-hit say 4-7m units. When people say it looks generic, not sure I really get it, I mean I guess there can be some comparisons to TLOU but to me this is more a gritty Bro game that the PS lineup has been missing. Expecting it to be a solid game but not necessarily a game for everyone.

I trust as a Sony Exclusive considering their track history that it won't be a failure/flop. I think at worst the game will be nothing new, just a decent same old experience that we are used to. I don't believe it will score under 80. I'd say at worst it will sit between 80-85.

I'm an avid shooter and a motorcycle rider, I love the theme of this game so it definitely appeals to me.

Does it really matter what score it gets? People who won’t like the game will just call the game “overrated” just like any game that gets high score, because apparently no game is allowed to have good score.

I can’t think of single game came out this gen that good score is not considered “overrated” in NeoGF.

I wish it was earlier but hey DOOM had a one day embargo before release and it turned out to be the best DOOM game to date so heres hoping.

The embargo for streaming the game lifts at 22 of April and it's allowed to comment but it's required to be from a fresh playthrough.

they pretty much were told to make this game after the success of TLOU by Sony themselves. yet an another D-tier movie story wanna be interactive game that I have 0 interest in. the more I saw the more I didn't want to play it

I wonder why not make a smaller game that took 3 years to make instead of this. this game been in development for like 7 years.

70-75 i think.

I think it will go upto 80s because production value increases score for some reason these days

I wish Bend Studio the best with their game. They worked tirelessly on this game and gave it their all.

Also, imagine shitting on a game that hasn't even come out yet

I suspect this one will be a bust. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. I predict a score in the vicinity of 73-76 too - would be less, but they're going to score it higher for the pedigree of being a Sony AAA

I think you might be right, but if I’m on the negative side I see it as a 73-76. Depends how many astroturfers they get out to plead the word, before the embargo lifts,

And i’d be fine with a 73-76, will still score higher than Crackdown 3.

Doesn’t mean it’ll be as good as a game.

Scores mean shit in the long run. Again that’s fine, go a ahead and AstroTurf for Sony.

Does the same logic apply to Nintendo exclusives, Rockstar games and Kojima games as well?

So what does matter then? Sometimes score doesn't matter, sometimes sales numbers don't matter and sometimes number of awards doesn't matter.

Ok we were in here talking about a Sony game, and you decided to drag Xbox into it somehow.

You should rethink that. I’m not going to derail the thread with this, but just think about it for a minute.

Astroturfer.

Yep and you don’t even want to compare this game to other Sony games.

Tells me all I need to know.

Thanks though.

Probably? But I'm saying this because Sony has had a year of stellar releases and reviewers will be unconsciously conditioned to think that Days Gone has top-notch quality, just because it comes from the same place and it's getting the same kind of hype. I'm not sure how this is related to the matter being discussed here, though.

Wouldn't the opposite be true in that case? Its not like the reviewers will simply score the game without actually playing. So if they had a mindset that the game will be just as stellar as the previous other games from Sony but if it doesn't match up, then wouldn't they rate it more harshly then they would have if it was just another game?

Talking about myself, I didn’t shit on it. All I said is that it’s very generic and it is generic.

You can condition yourself to think that a game is better than it is even while you're playing. In fact, we do it all the time. This generally happens because of the sunk cost fallacy, but it can happen because of hype, because of emotional investment in the series, etc. Reviewers are more used to this, but they're not immune. If Sony hypes Days Gone with the same amount of reverence that it used with other in-house AAAs and the game turns out decent, some reviewers will inevitably think the game is better than it is - but if it's simply a bad game, what you describe will happen instead and the scores will plummet (Like with Fallout 76).

It's a Sony game, so it will be received well. Doomsayers haven't paid attention to review scores for Sony exclusive games.

You believe this because MS keeps putting out subpar received games and you believe they should score higher.

Sony games are made to hype and win awards. Difference is that this one looks generic and flat on top off it. Another 3rd person 30fps zombie shooter. Hope it will be a somewhat good movie anyways.

The Order 1886 definitely was hyped and it made it worse that it was an exclusive game because expectations were way too high. If its a bad game it will get bad scores, dont worry.
