I know 90% of the time, these leaks turn out to be fake. Heck, some people go so far as to 3D print fake devices for the sake of getting a rise out of the web.

But... I kind of believe this one.

It's exactly in line with what I was expecting (which is perhaps itself suspicious): integrated joy-cons -- yes, I think that part is fairly guaranteed -- and compatibility with existing accessories (and maybe the existing dock?).

I'm not sure where the image originated. Big grain of salt, obviously. But

I did an Error-Level Analysis using FotoForensics.com. The contrast variation seems consistent with where the edges actually are.

"Similar edges should have similar brightness in the ELA result. All high-contrast edges should look similar to each other, and all low-contrast edges should look similar. With an original photo, low-contrast edges should be almost as bright as high-contrast edges."

Quick and easy way to tell it's fake without running an analysis:

Two separate models wouldn't share that stamp with all those numbers matching. Even updated controllers have entirely different numbers. A prototype wouldn't have these stamps in the first place.

That's just how the blue used on the joycons appears in some pictures. I have the same color show up in a lot of my pictures in my living room/

Post #15 shows it's pretty clearly a photoshop. Likely or a switch shell replacement kit ith the seams removed and some alterations made.

I don't think there's even a point in arguing whether it's fake or not, this redesign seems almost inevitable.

I'm going to throw in a vote for an even cheaper set top box that comes with a Pro Controller, instead of an actual 'Pro' version of the dockable Switch.

It'll probably happen...but isn't creating a dedicated handheld and a dedicated set top box completely undermine the entire concept of the Switch in the first place.... I mean it's called the Switch for a reason...

I don't think that will happen. A lot of switch games rely on motion controls. Removing that functionality will break some games, and selling a console that would require you to buy separate expensive joycons to use that previously built-in functionality again would probably not go over well.
