Compared to what? Other Sony exclusives and top tier ips? Because if so I can see the angle but compared to other companies exclusives and most games, this looks better to me. Sony sets really high bars sometimes with their first parties that its hard to appreciate the games tht are still graphically good looking but more grounded.

I'd be comparing it against other Sony exclusives, like Horizon, Uncharted 4, TLOU, etc, since it is a Sony 1st party game. The only way I can see myself playing this game is if the gameplay mechanics are interesting. WIth the exception of having an upgradeable bike to move around in the open world, nothing else has piqued my interest. I've heard impressions so far saying that the story is told really well, so there's that.

Hmmm fair enough. Like alot of ppl say YouTube vids don't show a games true graphics but you are comparing it to other big hitters. I think since it's open world, tons of zombies and has alot going under the hood itll be a step down graphically from say a Gow but close to Horizon.

I just read that the game is a whopping 67GB. There must be a lot of things going on in this game to warrant that size. At the end of the day, gameplay > graphics for me. If there are other unannounced mechanics that evolve throughout the game, that could be very interesting.

It looks great in this image for a open world game, especially with veggie involved and all.

Guy on reddit apparently has it, posting some images of the game... I haven't read it all yet. Summary, saying he thinks its solid game, thinks it will be in 75-80 m.c. range, does get a little repetitive, and there are some bug but nothing horrible but there are frame drops apparently during bike riding, but he does note some issue with the photo mode. (I don't think he is done with the game yet though either)

Could be some spoilers, but he seemed like he was trying not spoil anything.

Idk how to spoiler tag on mobile so spoilers (maybe)
I’ll chime in since Technically I’m not under a embargo (I got an copy early). Not going to spoil story related stuff cause that be a dick move, but I’m about 15 to 20 hours. I didn’t think this game could be as long as it is, thought I’d be done by now like Spiderman but there’s so much
The good: There’s a good amount of missions, albeit some of them are repetitive but those are your typical open world missions. Maps really big. At first I thought it was small but it expands a lot
Has random encounters guess similar to gta5/rdr2
Story missions are pretty varied though, and I’m doing everything as I go including side stuff.
It starts out pretty rough, going off this person a few hours I n doesn’t cut it because they just throw you in what one would say is the mid point/boring filler. They kind of expect you to know the world already (but they expand on it later in)
In those 20 hours I have encountered several hoards but haven’t fought them cause I’m scared of dying horribly.
Crafting is similar to the last of us, gotta collect resources. Molotov’s are your best friend. New crafting recipe as you finish camp takeovers.
The Bad: Performance is a hit or miss. There’s hitching and FPS dropping. For the most part it runs ok. This is on a PS4 pro btw, and I don’t see any options to change this
Can be buggy at times to. Had my bike clip into a mountain which halted progress and got locked into rooms. Fast travel only works if ur by ur bike, luckily they accounted for these bugs and give u multiple auto saves
Some bugs - bike clipping, audio loss, and getting progression locked in Nero centers because I died and it auto saved with me inside while cutting power to the building thus locking doors
Oh I hope a dev sees this one actually or have already fixed it. Photomode bugs out if u pan the camera a certain way it gets stuck inside of deacon
Graphically the game isn’t the prettiest looking game, but I won’t knock it down for that, not all games need to push that envelope.
Am I liking it? I don’t hate it, but I also don’t want to say it’s continuing the trend of being a really really good ps4 game. I say it’s a good first attempt, and there’s tons of room for a potential sequel and to improve on. I say at best it’s an 8, and worst a 7. Average game that’s def with checking out eventually. I’m enjoying it but acknowledge it has flaws

Well I'm not gonna trust some random guy,but lets say there are issues with the frame rate,I bet they are working on that for the release day, being a repetitive game, all open world games are and I'm aware of that going into this game, all that matters is to have a good story to keep me going.

Yeah, wish all the best for this dev team. And I know, a dev team should make a game they are passionate about, but part of me wishes we got a triple A syphon filter reboot on PS4.

Splinter Cell is completely MIA, and this would have filled that gap nicely.

I need good gameplay but I'm a graphics whore, I don't know why in 2019 it's still unreasonable to have both!
Because it cost money and manpower to make that happen and not all developers have that luxury and not only that there is also cost to it. Why do you think FromSoftware’s games have waaaaay more enemy/boss variety compare to God of War (2019)? It’s because they dont spend their budget in make highly detail models and high end graphics and instead they spend their resource and budget in things that actual matters in games.

Also please stop saying “ it’s 2019” no matter what year it is, it still cost money to make high end graphics without sacrificing something else.

Well it actually depends more on the engine and it's limitations and you don't always need to have the highest detail to make a game look beautiful. There are also other factors like lighting for example. And in Day's Gone they did have the money and manpower. And I'm sorry but for the year 2019, the games graphics look sub par for a AAA game.. Stop making excuses! You trying to tell me that there is no difference between game development from the last 10 years, so saying 2019 makes no difference because 2010 it was all the same?

The video is from a build that is over a year old. Check images from the previous pages as to how it’s looking today.

It’s bad enough when they’re damage indicator numbers. But XP indicator numbers are even more useless.

I’m so sick of seeing them in games. They aren’t helpful and they immediately break immersion. Devs need to either get rid of them or give you the option to turn them off.

There is a hud option to disable XP indicators in the game.

For an open world game the graphics are not an issue, maybe not the level of RDR (obviously) or Horizon but the graphics look fine to me. The two guys I have posted that appear to be playing the game - the one guy said the graphics look fine but not top tier like God of War (of course that's not really an open world affair) and the other guy hinted that the game looks good-great (paraphrased) ... both seem to have issue with the photo mode.

I doubt the game gets dinged for bad graphics, it might be other things but the graphics look solid in most areas that I can see especially for a smaller developed open world game. I'm sticking with high 70s to mid 80s on m.c., with some bugs, framerate drops while riding the chopper, only takes place in one geographic area i.e. lack of diverse environments - repetitive quests because open world being the main negatives.

I wonder if they can move over to the Decima Engine if it sales decent and they go full into Days Gone 2.

Don't forget that there are hordes of mobs, of course you won't get graphics like GoW, Horizon, RDR2 where there are way fewer mobs.

The amount of people working on RDR2 is probably 10-30 times as many people that are working at Bend. Even something like Horizon was probably in the 3-5 times range. It does sound like the 50-100 people at Bend were given as much time as they wanted but at the end of the day, there is no way they could have the output of something like RDR2. Although the budget probably wasn't small, its probably nothing compared to like RDR or Assassin's Creed - literally 1000+ people are working on those games.

I think the graphics are decent and good in some areas - not RDR2 level, that isn't going to happen - way too many manhours.

We'll see when the reviews hit next week, I don't think they'll be dinged for graphics.... looks solid to me, just not god tier or anything.

Another user on reddit is posting some short videos, if you search his posting history. This is just a short clip of riding the chopper. He has some of melee fighting with humans, kind of a Uncharted feel to it, you can do some QTE events at certain times as well... he likes the melee combat and he said the stealth is real good, both guys on reddit are saying the stealth is real good. He is saying its pretty fun, said there is some small pop-in but nothing crazy.... but he just started playing last night. (he posted some of the menus which I am providing below, hopeful the images are not too large) His impressions early on that its a 82-85 m.c. game.

Pop-in seems pretty inevitable with current hardware limitations, though some games are more impressive about handling it than others. Maybe more of an engine by engine basis thing

I think the game looks great for what it’s tryijf to do (high density enemy mobs).

I was never expecting GoW tier presentation, personally

So what's the deal with the physical version? Will I have to download part of it to be even able to play?

Wondering this myself. One guy on reddit is talking about how much content is in the game, and he suspected that they actually might have included some stuff into the mainline that was originally intended to be DLC due to the delay. This might explain why the physical copy is 46gb and the download is 67gb?????

Sounds about what I expected. Just another UbiWorld with a new set of clothes on. Hopefully performance gets fixed with that 20 gig day one whopper.

Starting to look like a solid decent title, of course, both reviewers are under NDA and are the smaller sites. The second reviewer playing for 7 days apparent said great but deleted the tweet.

Hopefully nobody minds the bump.

Free Days Gone dynamic theme if you're into that kind of thing over on PSN.

Sample of the theme in action.

New video, some game play as well, director comments.

It doesnt quite have the same impact after playing WWZ with its zombie swarms. It will be the better game though no doubt.

Yeah, I think that game looks fun as hell, if it were 1st person I would probably give it more of a look but the swarming is pretty sweet. I think they should have just went the L4D route and go 1st person as the player is doing so much shooting and its less stealth, imo. Looks interesting though for sure. I agree the swarm in that is better to a degree, but I wonder also if that is due to vertical buildings - whereas in Days Gone we've only seen one instance of the Freakers in a building type structure i.e. the saw mill.

A Days Gone sequel could really improve on some of this for sure i.e. bigger towns.

......because the day one patch is 20 gigs? What's the rational behind this
These cheap fucks couldn't ship the game complete?! Who knows how many more patches it will get. Put it on 2 discs, anything.

Here's the thing - look at ff15, that game got so many patches that someone buying it now gets a completely different experience from someone who buys it at launch.

SO. I will wait for them to complete the game, and a price cut to 20 bucks.

Also, even if I could accept such shitty practices, I don't have home internet right now.
