Left 4 Dead 3 screenshots have leaked online (only two screens do not be too optimistic)

Courtesy of Youtuber Tyler McVicker, who has been collecting and corroborating information for close to a year now (according to his latest informative video), Leaft 4 Dead 3 screenshots have now leaked. McVicker notes that the game development of Left 4 Dead 3 was semi-officially canned in 2017, which would mean this particular set of screenshots was created while the game was still deep in development. They showcase an environment that's quite unique in the series' context, and tell us that the game was - at least partially - going to be set in a middle-Eastern, perhaps Moroccan environ.

This set of level screenshots does corroborate previous L4D3 character art leaks, which also pointed towards a markedly middle-Eastern set of characters:

Middle eastern set of characters you say? Somehow got interested to see how badly designed we’ll be in the game. As for the game itself, I’m done with L4D for good after burning hundreds of hours in it

Would be nice if Valve released this as a VR game as it was nearly finished, but we'll have to wait and see.

Very weird change up of setting if actually the case tbh. The character renders are very nice though.

Do we know how old these screenshots are?
That would be my question as well. It's Valve so this could've been a project 10 years ago that they just scrapped mid-development like they usually do.
Part of what made L4D creepy and cool was the everyday America environments you made your way through, I'm glad it was canceled if that was the idea they were going with.
Wouldn't you get bored if the third one was also set in America? I'm glad they were trying to change it up but I don't know if Middle-Eastern would be a good fit. It would be an interesting setting, I'll give them that.

If that's the art style / overall graphics they wanted to go for, I'm content with the fact that they canned it. I mean I know that source games are supposed to have an unique art style, but get with the times and don't have your map look like it's ripped straight out of HL2.
That one L4D2 plantation source 2 map port looked way more promising than this.

Yeah Valve won't even give us remasters. I would pay full price for a Orange Box+Portal 2 remaster in 60fps with support for downloading player created maps for Portal 2.

Whats stopping you from buying it on steam and play at 120fps 4k if your pc can handle it?

Not intrested in another zombie shooter, too much of that. HL3 would be nice.

I have a GTX 1080 but I don't game much on PC, mostly emulation and DRM-free stand-alone games because I hate storefronts like Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc... Also I absolutely refuse to play any multiplayer game on PC due to rampant cheating, plus I enjoy playing with a controller more and it's hard to compete with mouse+keyboard players.

I'm sorry, but those are just dumb excuses. Especially the drm-free/storefront ones.

You forgot the "I prefer playing from my couch".

Theres cheating on Playstation too, impossible to detect or near impossible. Came across a XIM user a week ago, dominated the tdm match (bf4). He admitted using XIM4.
Storefronts are a thing to stay, just like sonys psn store is.

Having a gtx1080 pc your entitled to more then a subpar experience, exclusives offcourse you need a ps4. Thats only a few exclusives a year, maybe one if them is intresting. 7/8 years ps4 and 15 real AAA exxlusives.

It's kind of sad, but I'm not mad, maybe even glad, that Left 4 Dead was left for dead in Valve's sequel shed.
Can't trust them with game development anymore after what they did to their last few games.

Vermintide 2 has taken its place in my heart and easily surpassed the L4D series in terms of pure enjoyment (if you're not into online versus).

Dumb excuses? To whom do I owe any excuses to? You? I simply stated reasons why I prefer playing on PS4, there are others such as exclusives and come to think of it, I do prefer gaming on my couch, not that I can't on PC but it does require more effort.

PC storefronts are basically spyware that I don't need and honestly I don't even have time to play all my PS4 games so I don't need PC games and also I prefer physical games.

The screenshots look like the first pass of detailing - so anything you would expect to see in an alpha-state of development. Still though, the setting doesn't seem all that appealing. What made L4D good in addition to the other things it did right was the claustrophobic feeling you got in the maps. This doesn't give me that feeling at all.

To no one, of course. Just say "I prefer consoles". No harm in that. And yes, you should have brought exclusives up, since that's a solid argument.

The spyware conspiracy on the other hand...

I guess you don't buy from Amazon or you don't use Google (or Windows, or anything for that matter). And you don't connect to the Playstation Store either (yes, I am aware of the recent controversy about the Epic Store).

It's crazy how many good opportunities Valve has wasted (besides HL3). No sequels, no reboots, they're not even releasing remasters or ports for the new consoles.

Saw this thread and was like "LET'S. FUCKING. GO."

I could forgive VALVE for DOTA2 & Artifact if they dropped this but they fucked up. Again. Their loss.

Well, if they are spyware then Sony's storefront sure is too. If you prefer physical games you are one of those becoming the minority. Digital Downloads are both increasing on pc and console.

Steam is a money printing machine. they probably thought it wasn't worth it.

Sony can only spy on what you do on your PS4. PC spyware can pretty much get all your personal info and data from your PC which you use for a lot more.

I know, it kinda makes them look like they're not really passionate about video games. Steam could've funded pretty much all Valve sequels fans have dreamt of.

Valve look at projects in terms of amount of time needed to complete compared to the potential gains from the project. Do you think they have invested heavily in VR these past few years and will be releasing their own HMD in June just so you can play games made by other devs on it?

No, it doesn't necessarily have to be the US, but a middle eastern fortress is about as far as from what I would picture for a L4D3 and not in a good way.

I forgot about this but I remember imagining a L4D3 set in Tokyo, something like that would have been cool.

I always assumed though a third game would have been set on the west coast of the US, given the first was the northeast and the second was the south.

Looks like it's from 2011.

It's definitely no later than that, I'd say as far back as 2010.
