Final Fantasy X|X-2 runs at native 4K resolution on Xbox One X

A few days ago, Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remastered launched on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. However, there was some confusion regarding its Xbox One X Enhanced status. The box for the game stated that it ran at "4K" resolution, but the Microsoft Store listing didn't mention this at all. This dichotomy has happened in the past.

The Microsoft Store sometimes doesn't list games as Xbox One X Enhanced, even though they are. This has occurred with titles like Ashen, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and a handful of others. Usually, the box art reveals the resolution, but digital-only games aren't so lucky.

Square Enix provided us with access to Final Fantasy X|X-2 on Xbox One X, and we were able to confirm that it runs at native 4K resolution on the system. It's one of the crispest games available and looks absolutely stunning on a 4K display. It's definitely not 1080p or whatever resolution the base Xbox One renders at.

Luckily, our friends at VG Tech were also able to confirm this. The outlet said that it renders at native 4K in a video posted on YouTube. The team further confirmed its finding in the comments when a lot of users quoted an article which said it wasn't Xbox One X Enhanced.
If you were on the fence about buying Final Fantasy X|X-2 due to the lack of Xbox One X support, you can do so now. It's one of the clearest games on the system and it has to be experienced on a 4K screen.

Will you pick it up? Let us know.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Not unexpected mostly prerendered and nothing taxing for even the OG systems, I don't think the game got Pro Patch thou.
But then I can't imagine it looking any better as the 3D assets are clean as they can be anyway, and the rest already is noticeably upscaled, can't see it looking better upscaled more.

FFX wasn’t pre rendered? It was the first to go 3d wasn’t it?

And saying it like it’s to be expected because of being pre rendered, well.., 7 and 9 just released and were 1080p.
Mixed but mostly prerendered, FFXII is all 3D.
And what I mean is you ain't gonna more details from an already upscaled job, Characters and battle scenes will benefit that most, but like I said they're already clean and sharp as is.

Not surprised it looks great. Tons of ps2 era games look awesome in emulators. PS1 era games and older are hard to improve with just a res boost, but from ps2 onward, emulators can pull off some great results.

No, X is mostly 3D. It’s just the small indoor places that use 2D backgrounds.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
They've really got to get better at labeling this stuff properly on the site.

Did they fuck up anything in this port? I'm 100% in if it doesn't have the issues that plagued earlier releases (like the music bug.)

Wat? X is almost all 3D with just a handful of prerendered.

I think the game runs supersampled already on PS4 and PC... or am I imagining things?

I think this game don't have support for PS4 Pro.

People with PS4 shouldn't buy anything from SquareEnix, they never patch enhancement from other consoles to PS4 early versions, but they patched Tomb Raider Rise 2 years after with 4k resolution and HDR for XBOX X(no HDR for PS4).
