Nop. They keep the population as far I know. They can interact with 'not freaker' horde, that freakers who keep walking around the map.

Wait, can you confirm this? Everyone else I've heard discuss this has said they slowly respawn once you leave the area. Because if you're right, then heck I'm going back to that construction area southeast of the Lost Lake camp and see if I can finish off the remainder (I killed a lot....and then I saw there were still a ton of left even after using a ton of molotovs and grenades).

Maybe a bug, but I killed 90% of a horde (some hordes have health bar just like a boss fight), so when I enter into their cavern only 5 left, but when I kill the remain freakers and increase the horde quest percente, more than 50 freakers respaw around me and I get instakill.

Just hit the credits...must say that game felt overwhelming long and stretched out

The hordes look cool but they are fucking tedious to kill and you spend about 40 mins running in...throwing Molotov’s.... run back to bike..ride a bit to get a gap...jump off shoot some of the tail end then rinse and repeat

The gun menu and throwables system was stupid and got me killed many times

And the various glitches and random slow downs put a dampener on it for me

To me I think they should of just forgot the wizard island part and put more story into the main area.

What I did like was it actually did feel like a walking dead type game and most of the storyline was good,I just think it could of used a little longer in the oven and the game needed to be a little more meaningful in the last parts..it was just stretched out.

Ohhh this is the type of review that makes me cautious- i can see being on the same page here. The repetition...the length..etc
Seems tedious at times.

Of course I’ll get it... but not until after I’m done with Detroit Become Human, Dishonored 2, and Resident Evil 2. So, when Days Gone is $29.99

It’s not a bad game but I think less is more in my books..the last part of the game really doesn’t add anything story wise and if I’m being completely honest the whole thing isn’t really explained well at all.

I can see why it reviewed the way it did but it’s definitely a good little time wasting game
Just not the masterpiece that people were expecting from
A Sony first party title

All I know is that horde near the lake that’s right beneath the gravestone, I didn’t kill the whole thing the first time I ran into it, left a couple out and about, and it wasn’t fully respawned later.

I dunno what’s supposed to happen or what’s a glitch

Since release your posts seem to indicate that you’ve been looking for reasons to justify not purchasing. If you’re still that undecided this late, then just wait for a sale and call it a day. It’s usually not a good thing if you’re continuously looking for justification either way.

CR didn’t enjoy the game as much as I did. That’s fine. He’s not wrong, I’m not right, it is what it is.

If you read what D DanielsM has posted in this thread you’ll see he’s covered the game’s many strengths and many weaknesses pretty objectively. There’s not much more to say at this point.

Agree with you in some points. Yeah both the gun menu are shit and the last camp are crap, but the horde was no so bad. You can try others way of kill a horde, just by putting traps or using long range weapons from far or even attract them to camps for reduce they numbers.
Of course they need to improve the horde on the sequel if have, but the ideia was great. You can appounch hordes in many different ways.

It starts a bit slow by giving you crap stuff and your first bike handles terribly and the cutscene switches and load times are a pain.

Once you get passed that it becomes a potential GOTY.

Beware of the hordes, they are tough.

I'm having a hard time rating this game, its one of the strangest games I have ever played in many ways - great in most areas but strange. This game would have never been possible in a big studio, imo. Its like the developers threw as much mud at the wall as possible (maybe the most mud as any game ever created) and they're sitting back to see what sticks. The thing is... almost all of it sticks for most people. I think I am only in the middle part of the game i.e. should finish up most of the base camp #3 tonight but I feel like the base camp #1 and 2 are its own separate game. I feel like I'm almost done with game #2, yet I am only about half way done with the actual game.

Another thing that strange for me is, some of the repetitive things like getting sniped off the bike. Every time I see the red laser pointer I'm doing eye rolls (not again) than I wipe out the whole gang out, and I'm like that was fun. :messenger_tears_of_joy: This game to me is like Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 smashed together, most of the pacing is whacked and it doesn't seem on the surface that it should all work but somehow it does most of the time. I just think nobody is going to agree as to what this game is and where it should go and what works and doesn't work for their own tastes.

I like base camp areas #1/2 as it feels survival type and you're more alone, kind of like a MGS, The Last of Us mix, I love that and I want to play more of that game. Than you get to area #3 and that seems more like Red Dead Redemption 1/Half-Life 2 more cinematic, story and mission, I love that and I want to play more of that game as well. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Not sure, if everyone can agree as to whether its a bad game, subpar game, average game, good game, or great game, but any reviewer that says this is "generic" to me has no business doing game reviews.

Agree but unfortunately glitches got in the way of some clears....I had one save where the horde was glitched below the ground and it was about 4 Main saves past a story point which was about 6 hours of gameplay I lost

Understand some bugs but that bug was flat out annoying.....the saw mill and the big clear before it I had to redo twice

Had the craziest glitch in the game. So I was doing one of those stealth missions for O'Brien (can't remember the full mission name but the name "Herod" was in it IIRC). The chopper lands by a gas station, I easily distract one guard with a rock and place the device on the chopper. And then I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, no marker or O'Brien saying anything. And then after hiding behind the chopper for about 15 seconds, I hear the screams of a horde. They come running in, the NERO guys begin shooting, and it's madness. The NERO guys are invincible but there's so many in the horde they are barely lowering their numbers. And I'm hiding behind the chopper, thankfully all the action is on the other side and as I move towards the right a Listening bar appears at the top of the screen and I can barely hear the scientist lady's dialogue. So I'm carefully staying behind the chopper and the bar is almost full when a NERO guy must have spotted me.

I then respawn seemingly after placing the device but now I'm a good deal to the left. I crouch and move forward to get behind a barrier that's right in front of me and a NERO guy spots me in exactly a second. So respawn in the same spot, I crouch and stay still, and still get spotted. Respawn, crouch, back up, still spotted. At this point I was ready to load a previous save file (so many autosaves mean I only lose a few minutes before the mission at most) and then the prompt to skip the mission to completion appears and I just select it to move on already.

Sigh, great game, but needed just a little more time in the oven.

On a side note, I never get tired of Deacon saying O'Brien's name in frustration. The VA delivers it perfectly with so much annoyance and frustration. I honestly kinda hope O'Brien just never stops dodging all of Deacon's questions because Deacon's frustration just cracks me up.

Ok this is bugging me, I'm pressing down L3 and I'm sprinting and then all of a sudden I'm no longer sprinting even with over 50% stamina. If I press REALLY hard, I'll sprint forever. Does this happen to anyone else?

I forgot the name of it but that ultimate bat weapon you get near the end with the max durability and damage, I lost mine after a random encounter, is there a surefire way/place to find new ones?

I love how the other types of freakers are anti-social. I follow a horde to their cave and 2 big one get inside just to fight the horde.
One of those nest too. I kick a molotof there, the breaker get out, but instead of chase me he go back inside of the still burning nest for kill his freakers friend. Best friend ever.

I love how in other zombie'ish games night is the worst time to come out and too scary but in this its actually easier to do missions or cleaning stuff at night, and its never too dark so i dont ever use bike lights even to be more stealthy.
And i just love this love story in here. Thats how i want in most games i played reason to go forward it must be some love revenge saving type of stuff. Thats why tlou was best for me but this maybe even better. And sarah model facial expressions emotions are made just perfect. If more devs could make that level from unreal 4 engine....

Why does Deacon take only one ear from the kills for bounty? He can easily take both the ears and con the system by claiming he made two kills for each. He will have to take odd numbers from time to time to keep up the farce that he is only taking one ear for each kill.

Maybe all freakers only have 1 ear :OO

Good point though, I never thought of that.

They could have established a rule where they accept only right or left ears tho.

But they way he has to kill them sometime like using molotovs, bombs, explosions etc. there is no guarantee that the left or right ear will always be available. Maybe you are right and it is on him to make sure that the correct ear for bounty is preserved during his kills so that he gets the bounty.

Looks like Days Gone is topping sales for online as well.

This really does call into question just how important reviews are in this day and age.

Back when there wasn't the "internet" in its current form, reviews in magazines where all of us had to go by. Maybe a few rich kids had every new game and could tell you about it, but otherwise, it was a leap of faith for the rest of us that had to pick out just a couple of games a year. The reviews were huge for that analysis.

Now, you can just get on youtube and see what the impressions are from people you don't know, but may follow and know they have similar tastes as you.

In other news for all that "generic" bullshit we heard about (just code for...well...we know what some folks really meant by that), seems the game is infact what consumers wanted. It is obvious now that the reviewers had an angle and that lead to lower scores than what it likely deserved (or at the very least....they conflated criticisms higher than what they did for other games).

In spite of their best efforts, boom, game was a success. And it should be. Its pretty impressive for Bend to drop this kind of game after years of non-AAA development. Its actually quite the achievement really.

I don't think I could have a discussion with someone that says this game is "generic", they can say parts are bad, parts good, parts are great... parts aren't needed, parts of it are all over the place, etc. but to say this is "generic" is just a huge hole in a discussion, which might have been the point.

I still can't even describe this game, its like a mad scientist put it together and is now observing the results.

Dont care and never cared for reviewers and they scores. Its just someones opinion nothing so it means zero to me. What matter is to see gameplay for myself then i know ...done.

Havent had much time to play. I'm still at Iron Mike's and Lost Lake. It's all good though. Not like anything of note is releasing any time soon besides Rage 2. Still my personal GOTY so far.

What's up with that dopey looking hat Deek is wearing? Does he wind up losing the fitted cap at some point? I mean I don't mind the jacket but he looks dumb in that particular fucking hat. Maybe it's just awkward positioned shots.

Yeah, it just means nothing. I don;'t know what idea they are trying to convey. If any game is rooted in reality, is that "generic." Is the concept of zombies "generic" no matter how presented? Is it just the white male protagonist "generic.?" (My bet is that for some, the latter was the real key).

There are issues with the game. They should have scrapped some systems, improved some performance, etc...but otherwise, its a perfectly solid open world game. At least as good as Assassins Creed Odyssey (Days Gone has a better story).

Man that screamer scream is really well done. I was driving around and suddenly one screamer screamed and I literally got disoriented and had to pause the game to recover.

Done with the story. Damn it was great and still gull of hordes but im not sure that i have reason now to deal with those. If they could make like mission on them that some character would say hey i need you to save someone and there is horde then maybe but just for cleaning them i dont feel like i want.
And put on easy when missions with hordes started to make it more simple.
Will there be dlc for game?
Maybe will play more just for secret ending.
After ending they could make it like more dynamic still to play like random missions.

Free DLC is expected out next month if all is still on track.

Free post-launch content includes ‘Survival’ difficulty mode, plus weekly Bike, Horde, or Combat challenges.

that would be cool. not horde but other chalanges i would like. or i would do hordes if i would have like 20 mixes of napalm and all traps not like 3 of those and fof that to make i need to run around buildings for hours. so thats just not fun . at least after you finish story they should give you more of those weapons to fight hordes. if not then im pass on that.
so there is money in game. like what ? where they will put those money that you buy things for ? in bank? under pillow ? what money even mean in that world... they should thought that better
so petrol never ending in petrol stations ? yh right ... imagine possiblitys in post apocalipse world with electric homes electric bikes and cars. you dont need nothing else.
upgrades for crossbow should came earlier and more of them. i used guns just in later missions that was needed to use and in end of game , nowhere else, guns where just no needed.
i hope that DLC will have something in play for we dont see some characters after done with story so hope they will be there... in DLC
and why there where lags on PS4 Pro ? sound lags on cutscenes and lots of pops in on screen. hated those cutscenes where i didnt restarted game and all cutscenes played like crap.

Well, now about a hour or so into the #4/5 base camp areas, kind of confused as to why there are two camps, maybe it will become more clear. I have no idea how you guys finished this game so quick, I feel like I have been putting in overtime on this one and still have a ways to go. (I don't normally fast travel) I still feels like its 4-5 games wrapped into one, its huge on all fronts... I have no idea how a 50-100 person team created this game. With that said, I feel like my enjoyment of the first 10-15 hours was more than after the 15 hour mark, which seems the exact opposite to many gamers that are looking for more a story (Red Dead Redemption 1) based focused instead of survival horror aspects. I still feel the first portions of the game could have been its own thing i.e. survival horror with limited resources. I'm still around a 85+ game to me, even the portions I think are half-baked I generally still like where as playing Red Dead Redemption 2 it seems like I am trying to get through the pain to just finish it.

I would be curious to see, if they could make a more survival based game next time, I'm just not sure there is a big audience for that. Either way, what they currently have is a ton of fun. At one point I have a freaker Bear chasing me on my bike, I get clothlined and have the sniper and bandits on me and then 3 freaker wolves show up and we all start dancing. (nothing quite like that in any other game)

Anybody here also feels like hunting animals and harvesting plants was kinda wasted should have played a bigger role in the game?
I feel like they should've opted for a RDR2 style needs/food/camp system. Allow us to cook the meat at a small campfire we can set up at any time (even if it's just to restore health).

Just finished the game, I really like the idea behind it but I'll still only give it a 6.5/10 for a few simple reasons:
- You really notice how it's the first AAA game by that studio (inexperienced, lacked quality in certain aspects like NPC animation work, audio bugs and mixing issues, gameplay issues)
- The constant slowdowns, that got worse the further I got near the end (occasionally locking up after fast travel or slowdown / FPS drops that lasted for minutes!!) are an absolute no go. Prime example is the credits at the end, which you can't skip, that LOCK UP for seconds whenever a cutscene fades in. Unacceptable.
- The loading screens are unacceptable. You see how they tried to have smooth transitions between cutscenes and gameplay (e.g. when at the end of a cutscene the camera smoothly transitions to behind the player, ready to take off on a bike) but you still get 5-10 second loading screens. What makes it worse is the fact that loads of missions consist of several short cutscenes queued up, so you watch 10 seconds of cutscene, 10s of loading, 10s of cutscene and so on. Who thought that was a good idea? Should've spent more resources on using the cutscenes to fully load the next scene...
- Often cringeworthy dialog / writing
- Fetch quest galore (someone said every quest feels unique on the PS discord, I rolled on the floor laughing).

I hope they fix the above issues for any potential sequel. Without the performance issues (locked FPS, no lock ups and loading galore) this could've easily been 8/10 for me.

If they would have made this a survival horror game like the first 10 hours or so i.e. limited resource and access to resources, I would probably be down to cooking and other mechanics. Not sure what purpose it really serves when the resources are more easily available. In RDR2, I cooked a few times but it just slowed the slow pace down so I barely even messed with it, I didn't really see the purpose other than make the game worse.

This game didint need cooking we have plenty in other games, like in rdr2 cooking or hunting for camp was just useless, here its at least for money.
Now i wait what they will do with dlc and more activitys.
Wasnt expecting it will be so good story side and so long
Wasnt expecting so good visuals and real snow on ground.
In all game surprised me in good ways.

Anyone knows how loot in buildings respawn is it like every day or depends on what you have or other kind.
