VG24/7: Avalanche’s best game is also one of the best-feeling shooters ever (no score)

IGN: One thing Rage 2 has definitely learned from Doom is how it encourages you to dive into the fray. 8/10

Gamespot: 6/10

Game Informer: 7/10

Gamesradar: 3/5

USGamer: 4/5

Destructoid: 8/10

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
iconmaster iconmaster tough break :messenger_winking_tongue:

Consensus seems to be that the actual core gameplay is fantastic, but everything else around the edges falls flat. Looks like a Steam 2020 Spring Sale game to me.

To be fair, the horrendeus art style killed the game long ago for me. A game needs to be pleasent to look at and this picture alone screams "please don't buy me" imo:

The first rage was pretty flawed as well, but at least it looked nice. I could look past the 7/10 scores because I think the majority of the reviews mentioned that the gunplay is really solid, but not in purple and pink. I'm not 13 anymore.

is any outlet injecting social views and politics into their review?

its MC is currently 72 - tied with Days Gone.

pretty stoked, will definitely play this. especially since the action is like Doom

I didn't realise we could only like those colours when we are 13! No wonder the reviews are low!

Rage is in my top 10 of all-time, Mad Max I like the DNA but it wasn't complete and needed better combat but I only finished about 30% of the story line due to burnout. This looks like they took out Rage, added a more boring Mad Max and added Doom gun play. I thought Doom was okay for what it was, but not sure the world needs every game to play like Doom.

The good news if you are into this style of play is its tied with Days Gone on the scores and that is in my top 5 of all-time so far.

not sure if this is the place or if this is anything new but i'm watching this jackfrags video. he's using an RTX 2080 Ti and running the game at 4K ultra. will be interested to see how it performs. i want to play at 4K with a 2080.

i had zero interest in the first game but i like the direction they are going with this. gives off Mad Max vibes which i love.

probably will wait for a sale.

It looks super pretty to me; especially the abundant use of color. I'm just not happy to hear that it feels somewhat empty. I'll wait for some Youtube reviews to go up before I decide. The ACG review is encouraging.

I don't know. The reviews all kind of come off like 'I don't like the developers anti game journalist tweets so I'm going to let it taint my review' kind of feeling. I'll wait and see what oneangrygamer has to say about it. If he says it's a 7 out of 10, then I'll know it really is.

Doesn't look too bad. The shooting seems fun. Who cares about the story. I don't know about that 60$ price-tag though.

Yes and no, I mean I think there are some bias and some unrealistic expectations in open world to start with from reviewers. Apparently these reviewers are unaware of the man-hours needed to make a high level production like Red Dead Redemption. You probably have more people working on modeling for RDR2 as you have total for all the people that developed Days Gone or Rage 2, literally thousands of people are working on RDR2, in some capacity. I'm not surprised by the reviews on this one based on Mad Max, which I think actually had a good DNA which Days Gone kind of used in part.... the issue is they needed much more to compete.

For me this cycle for open world that I have played.

Days Gone (almost done) > Red Dead Redemption 2 > Horizon > Mad Max (never finished, but I can see why some people love it)

Generally, I wouldn't listen to reviewers as a whole anymore... stick with the reviewers you have a common interest. Days Gone is selling very well despite the reviews and for very good reason, but that doesn't mean every game will. I felt like Mad Max had enough in it to last 10-15 hours, not enough for a 25-40 hour game.

The first Rage is one my favorite fps's ever, and I disliked the direction of Rage 2 the moment I saw it. The suicide squad punk aesthetic is such a turn off.

The other part I like was the craftables drones, turrents, remote cars, etc. I don't see all of that. I would literally setup turrets just for fun and just fight with those at times to just see the action.

About as expected.
All the footage and trailers they have shown pointed at really fun gunplay in a repetitive open world package and that's exactly how most reviews are describing it

I'll get it after a price drop

The game will not sell well like Days Gone because is not a Sony exclusive, Sony is the Marvel of consoles.

The Order doesn't appear to have sold good or great and probably subpar, probably break even and that was a Sony exclusive. Knack isn't exactly a 10m seller or Killzone Shadow Fall or or Infamous or Gravity Rushes, they did decent but not good or great. Just sticking a Sony sticker on it doesn't guarantee sales.

average score is good, acg says buy... weird.

It stays on my wish list, but not for $60 . Considering the scores, it will drop in price fast.

Cant wait to play it, watching Cohhcarnage currently and it looks realy good fun, i enjoy mindless action games with guns and vehicles, was hoping for 7/10 as an average score.

Most games are better than Days Gone, what a dull game.
