I don't read this the way you read it. I read it as; they have already introduced a product into high end gaming and are on schedule to introduce another different high end gaming product..

I think you are really stretching it... Sorry but this is a pretty ambiguous quote to base your whole argument on..
he is telling the truth.
AMD has telling this on the 2019 Annual Meeting of Stockholders.
For this year [2019] is Radeon VII the highend product and navi is midrange.
You can read this today on the biggest German PC site: ComputerBase.

I don't doubt he's wrong. These are consoles not alien ware computers. I just think the quote could read several ways.

This is an interesting PDF from 2018 if anyone wants to take a look:

Yes, they still want to sell the R7 stock. It is still new.

A high end Navi should be out next year replacing and hopefully surpassing the R7 part.

We still don’t know which part the consoles will use, but with RT mentions, VR push, etc., I feel it will not be as low as people (the low ballers) think. Time will tell.

Just like both were using the same at the start of this gen?
Yes... MS sacrificed GPU die space for SRAM and still ended up with a bigger silicon than PS4.
GNC 64CU limit means consoles can use it with room to spare at 7nm, the only way to be more powerful is through clocks

I know who's cooling solutions I'd bet on

Speaking of that, nobody is resting on their laurels.

Thats fine, i was just commenting on your assumption that specs are set in stone. At this point its not posible for either party to be certain of technical superiority without vision into the future.

When i say specs I mean the APU they have requested. That is not changing.

Likes moldy games
lol.... you know that my notebook on bord Intel HD Graphics 630 chip can 4K?! but it can't run games in FHD...
its only 4K output!!!
same with navi gpus the can output 8K [video, pictures, OS]
I think the poster I quoted got what I was implying hence the reply. But yes I have messed about with Half Life 2 on my i5 6200u at 4k when I connected it to the TV once.

There's no way it'll be BC with every PS.
Was confirmed BC of PS4 games via hardware, but like the Xbox BC strategy they can use software emulation for others ps plataforms besides PS4. Require a lot of work, dunno if they will, but yes can be done.
Not saying they will, but software emulation at least for old gen proved very good.

BC with all previous PlayStations? I doubt it. If that were the case, Cerny would have already mentioned that to Wired. He only mentioned PS4.

Well the big issue is PS3.

Because Sony already has PS1/PS2 emulator for PS4 that can be easy ported to PS5.

PS4 will run nativity.

Only for PS3 needs hard work.

PS4 already has PS1 and PS2 emulator.

The only doubt is ps3, Zen2 might not be able to emulate the cell. Otherwise it can be BC with every title on the psn store (digital only for ps1 and ps2).

Aye. PS3 probably won't happen. Which means unless there's an HD remaster or you have a f ck powerful PC to do the emulation, no Demon's Souls :|

They wouldn’t say the PS2’s GPU supports it though is the main takeaway here as that would be a lie.

Any GPU supports raytracing mate. PS2 GPU is lightyears faster than first GPUs who run raytracing back in 90s.
How do you think effects like in Abyss or Terminator 2 were done ? On GPUs that running multiple times slower than GPU of PS2. The difference was that it took weeks sometimes months to render short clips.

Ray-tracing is an algorithmic and it can be done in any processor (GPU, CPU, etc)... Movie studios used to render ray-tracing in Intel CPU farms.

What RTX put on table are specialized hardware units to improve performance.

Only recently Movie Studios started to use GPU farms for ray-tracing.

The rumors are getting out of hand, how did we get here? There should be a google sheets with all the predictions.
It's rumor season..........Everybody makes something up from some base specs they believe most people believe in (12-14Tf hardware) range, then they re-gurgitate some old rumors (All BC), put an extra feature or detail in the package (Which games are coming for launch or which devs will be at the reveal event)......They pack it and ship it......People defend said rumors as if they were real and based on which one suits them most or perhaps what they would like to see most in a console, rinse repeat...

BC with all previous PlayStations? I doubt it. If that were the case, Cerny would have already mentioned that to Wired. He only mentioned PS4.
All Sony had to do was announce PS4 BC, that's the BC that matters most for people's transition into PS5....Keep them buying PS4 games and hardware with no worries........PS3-PS1 BC if a thing could be a big announcement and if anything Sony should leave such a reveal for their event, so the crowds could go wild et al.......It can be a good talking point in the media for buzz and marketing purposes....

I personally would love automatically enhanced PS2/3 games.......I have a tonne of PS3 discs and I still have some of my favourite PS2 discs.......I would definitely revisit GT3/4 for PS2 and would also pop in Ghost Hunter, Primal etc.....

Well, that's a different statement entirely, he shifted to timeframes, but nobody was talking about what lands this year or not...He said Navi and Radeon VII are the same product line and that Navi was only mid-gen.....I think that was the disagreement.....

Tbh, I think some people try to appear too bolted on these rumors and extrapolations.......We really don't know anything till AMD announces it......BTW, I've been asking and nobody seems to link anything......Where are the notes of this recent AMD meeting?

Boggles my mind why they would launch big titles straight of the bet. I would assume that launching now on the PS4 with a remaster a year or two after it on the PS5 would probably be far more financial interesting.

Late gen AAA releases make a ton of sense. As does a PS5 remaster 12-18months later.

Everyone wins, provided the PS4>PS5 upgrade fee is reasonable, and you don't have to spend £50 again.

I actually don't know how anyone misunderstood that BC would be for PS4 only and not for the whole PS history catalog. I mean, they clearly kept saying, because it is a similar architecture, the PS4 BC is a no brainer. Nobody EVER said full BC all the way to 1995 PS1 games. And thats totally fine and more than enough. Can any Nintendo console play a whole back catalog of every console they ever made? No. I mean if your selling point is BC on a brand new console than just go buy a CRT and a $20 PS1...why do people continuosly keep wanting BC. Its a fad, no you will not play Tekken 3 again nor FF7. You will wait for Tekken 8 and FF7 Remake. If you do, you will do it for a day for nostalgia sake and then go and bitch online how God of War 5 doesn't have ray tracing.

I think BC from the previous gen is always a good idea (just makes that initial transition that much easier), I know when I get a PS5 it will be nice to be able to continue to play my old PS4 catalog without having to have both systems hooked up and maybe they will allow enhancements like the PS4 Pro provides, but as for PS1 through PS3, I don't care as much about like you said, I do see those as a fad, people will play them a handful of times and be done with it, I did it with all my previous consoles.

After long silence of MS "insiders" on Reeeeeee , "Klobrille" has as asked the beehive there to adjust their expectations 🤣

Seems like Sony has shocked them again with PS5 specs Lol
It’s really starting to seem that way. I still think the anaconda will be more powerful than ps5 but I wouldn’t be shocked if it wasn’t. We’ll see next month maybe?

Honestly, the edge can go either way (with MS a bit more likely to have it). I expect the machines to be pretty close in power anyway.

Another rumour

That is fake. PlayStation 5 will NOT have BC for all previous PlayStations. Mark Cerny already suggested it's only PS4.

Also this "leak" says that no PS5 releases have decided yet for TLOU 2, Ghost or Death Stranding.

Meanwhile, Mark Cerny already confirmed to Wire that Death Stranding is already a 2 platform release.

PlayStation 5 will NOT have 24 GBs of Ram unless those are devkit specs then 12 GB sounds more reasonable. Highly doubt you'll have 2 TB SSD at that price as well and no way for 13 tflops.

While the "leak" sounds nice and want to believe. It's honestly just someone's wet dream.

Launch will be Holiday 2020 not September.

Nothing new. They got triggred by wired article and shoot 'we are more powerful' even without PS5 real specs.

While I don't really agree with that "leak" either, I do see some of it as a possibility. 24GB of RAM is possible, but I am only going to expect to see 16GB, but they might surprise us, who knows, look what they did with the PS4, everyone was only expecting 4GB and we got 8GB. I don't see the 2TB SSD happening either, I am willing to bet the farm that it is going to be a 1TB NVMe SSD drive in the PS5, it just makes sense. I have my fingers crossed that it will be 13+ TFlops, but I have a feeling it is going to be more in the 12.6-12.9 range. I also totally see them launching in Sept 2020, that would be the perfect timing since the North American launch of the PS1 was on Sept 9th, 1995 and I know they are going to make a big deal about it being their 25 year anniversary! I really think Sony is going to swing for the fences on this upcoming console.

12GB only, the XBONEX has that from 2017.......Come on Klobrille, you're not even trying to hide it....

Also, I thought you said you were only an XBOX insider, how comes you have so much PS5 info all of a sudden? :messenger_smirking:
