I watch YouTube through the app on my LG OLED but for whatever reason it never seems to switch over to HDR even on YT vids that are supposedly in HDR.

LOL considering Microsoft and Sony share the same components supplier for - at least - the two main parts inside their devices, + all the third parties developers involved for launch titles, do you honestly think that they do NOT know each other specs ?
the development could be compartmentalized as much as they want.. but there is no way both Sony and Microsoft already knows almost with 90% accuracy the specs inside other console.


it's just a matter of how much money they want to lose for BOM components and as much they want to charge at day one

Sony still have the upper hand ; I'm pretty sure they have 2 possible final release specs and wait for Microsoft to spill their beans first. Remember when they changed from 4gb GDDR5 to 8gb GDDR5 before revealing the PS4 ? And that was without even having Microsoft revealing their Xbox one specs like today so just think about that for a second .
