It's not perfect, she could stand to lose the undershirt and maybe they could be juuuuust a little bigger.

The stockings are bad because the barenaked white legs were meant to contrast black skirt, black sleeves and black hair.. With the black undertop and the stockings now it's just too black and inconsistent.

They've always been a bit thin but she looks much taller now, not saying she actually is, so it sticks out more. A bit more muscle would look a lot better on this new model.

I like it. It's a bit "safer" but far from going full NetherRealm style cover up mode, seems like a good modern take on the character design and I never really expected the new designs to be 1:1.
Are people also mad this is going for a realistic look as opposed to a cartoony/anime one which is more in line with the original concept art?

Removing the undershirt was better yeah. Don't know about the stockings. I did my own crappy edits of these to imagine different versions.

This is the right picture with or without stockings.

The left is as faithful to original Tifa as I could get it, the right one was Tifa's tank top being as the original one, but with stockings.

Why does nobody remember that Tifa's shirt didnt look like that in the original? There was no cleavage, and the shirt neck was not low enough for there to ever be cleavage.

Edit: the bottom set of RokkamStoned pics are actually representative of the original, which coincidentally the shirt covers the exact same skin area as the new Tifa model does, except with one shirt instead of two.

People were complaining about the undershirt but I reckon it provides clarity that's easy on the eyes. Also, layers are cool. The whole outfit, including the delicious ZR, screams a modern update inspired by nipfashion rather than caving into pressure.

The right is so 2000 and late.

Also, I hope this means the nips are finally over their cowtits obsession. Now just need to get rid of horseface.

I've got no problem with the ZR, but the undershirt is just wrong. It might work at a distance, looking less like an undershirt and more like a striped pattern on the tank top. But once it's close it's the awkward look of wearing two similar clothes, but the one under sticks out and barely covers any more area. The lines distract and pull your eyes everywhere (especially since there's a lot of black, from the suspenders the stockings, the long sleeves, etc.), instead of allowing you to rest on the white tank top, the face or any other place. The ZR on the other hand feels like it makes my eyes rest easier, especially with how short the skirt is, it provides balance.

The problem is they made two mistakes. First, they decided to sex her costume up just like Capcom did with Claire's classic outfit in the re2 remake. This was wholly unnecessary and shouldn't have happened to begin with in both cases. Mistake number 2 was walking it back with some lazy Xenoblade Chronicles X style censorship which results in the worst of both worlds.

Square is just completely confused about what to do with her and have been for awhile.
