Thank you Sony for not having a presser to distract me for the more important things in life. Seriously though, after the flute player, would we had gotten a violinist, pianist or maybe someone playing the accordion if they had done an E3?

Whatever thy would have showed would have been infinitely better than what Micro showed. Just new gameplay of TLOU 2, Ghost of Ts..., and few other surprises and wire article reveal onstage would have been better. I laugh at ppl tht think thy didnt show up because they had nothing to show lol 😭😭😂😂😂

Go home, you’re drunk.

Sony’s 2018 E3 was easily one of the worst I’ve ever seen, between the lame music fillers, long intermissions, and general awkward feel. It was right up there with Nintendo in 2008 as the worst E3 keynote by a market leader.

The year off, if nothing else, will hopefully let Sony plan a bit better for 2020 and the rollout of the PS5. One less keynote, in an E3 year that’s had mostly poor to mediocre ones, is better on the whole.
I'm afraid Sony has raised the bar so high by concentrating on AAA exclusives only, its making it impossible to keep churning out that type of output at a consistent basis. MS has spread this out by focusing not only on AAA but by giving indies some shine, hardware announcements, technology announcements. Sony has put all there eggs in one basket so to speak. They might need more studios to keep the output high.

My one comment on this lackluster show.
Is any game coming out this year? I can't believe how many times I have seen "2020".
Shouldn't there be a big game coming out this fall?

" Go home, you’re drunk" comment lol. You need to revise your strategy. Go home you obviously suffer from obsession if you cant see tht that presentation was ass and anything would have been better.

I have to say there’s some truth to this. One of the most impressive things about the PS4 early on was the pretty awesome stream of indie content that Sony helped raise awareness on. It seems as the PS4 entered its fourth year that they kind of lost interest in showcasing smaller games, which has been disappointing because I think these smaller games distill the basics of why I play games to begin with because they aren’t able to obscure shortcomings with big budgets and instead have to rely on gameplay to succeed. I hope Sony regains some of that focus on smaller teams with the PS5, because yeah, I miss 2013-2016 PSN.

Edit: and it may be a market thing, because I never hear people talk about Resogun (or any of Housemarque’s awesome games) or Strider, etc.

I feel like any or most of those trailers, if they had been show anywhere else or at some other time and not at E3, people would have been more enthusiastic about them. For some reason since its E3, or more likely since it is coming from MS, the narrative has automatically become oh those games are all bad and the conference was shitty. I never thought I'd see the day where people complain about getting shown a bunch of games. The conference was fine. It didn't have a bunch of surprise games that people wanted to see, but that doesn't mean it was a poor conference either. The gears segment had a lot of cringe-worthy moments, but again welcome to E3 conferences. My view of the conference is tainted only because I wanted to see Halo Infinite game-play. Otherwise, i'd give the show a B-. Far from terrible, just nothing too noteworthy for my personal tastes.

The E3 before next gen is often lackluster. Couple that with LEAKS and you have disappointment. I don't think it's that bad just too many western developed games for my taste. Nintendo might save the day.

After watching all press conferences i must unfortunately agree with OP. Sony did actually make us a favor by not dragging us through the same already announced games (especially if they dont have gameplay to show).

Having said that, in my opinion, Square enix was this year’s E3 winner as they showed the most interesting games and tons of gameplay

What are you talking about? I understand sarcasm can be hard at times to comprehend through text, but obsession? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Stop taking it so seriously, it’s all a joke.

Personally thought the E3 was ok, not great or bad as some would make it out to be.

Please give an example of a corporation caring about anything else.
As much as I'm into critical thinking, on this topic I don't really think it's worth my time looking to provide an example of something that refutes what I've said and that nobody has explicitly objected to.

If you're making a point then, forgive me, I'll have to ask you to elaborate on it.

I didn't watch E3 this year. People posted threads instead highlighting the event. THANKS YOU GUYS. Sony though? lol

It was way worse if you were a veteran of the video game wars in the 90s.

I had turbo grafx and Sega. Every battle was about who could display more polygons on screen and who had a bigger color palette. Shit was fierce between Nintendo and Sega fans lol Sonic versus Mario days.

As far as a publisher goes they were just as bad, if not worse than all the rest. To be honest, I'm kind of glad Sony is skipping this event, if you don't have stuff to show than why go? Microsoft didn't really have anything to show, but the marketing beast continues. I would generally say the show was a bust by all the big publishers, I would not be surprised by a huge cliff in the gaming industry as a whole.... its not just limited to Microsoft.

For the record, I don't understand the point of a bunch of 3rd party non-exclusive game developers being on Sony's stage or Microsoft's stage, etc. either. Microsoft's show really could have been reduced to about 15-20 minutes of actual stuff, if that.

The whole purpose is to show things people are interested in, not stuff they are not interested in. Technically, you could be correct, but they could have just as easy had a web cam pointed at an ant farm.... technically they are showing something but nothing of real interest to the gaming world.

I'm not jumping on them or anything, I think all the big publishers are bad at this point. Too much focus on Games as a Promise (GaaP), Platforms as a Service (PaaS), Services, etc. Very little as far as exciting big games.

Once again, just because you weren't interested in what they showed doesn't mean they didn't show anything interesting. Tons of people are extremely excited about a lot of stuff they showed.

Well, like I said someone might be interested in watching an ant farm, its subjective... just because YOU think its the bomb doesn't invalidate the people in this thread or TONS of people in the world that believe the other side.

It was a bad E3 all around, imo, which I would be very surprised if general consensus didn't agree. This basically goes for all the publishers there, not really sure what the purpose of all this was.

The polls speak for themselves, that E3 was hot garbage!!! That's the consensus.

Dude, you sound super arrogant and egotistical. First off, I never said I thought their conference was "the bomb". I've been critical of Bleeding Edge's character design and I'm on record saying MS could have done a lot more. I know that's not what a good warrior wants to hear when arguing but I'm the wrong person to argue with on this matter. Another thing, I've already said i'm going ps5 + pc next gen so I have no dog in the race.

Was this year's e3 good? No, not really. Did MS show off games and make announcements that people were interested in? You have to be a complete idiot to say, "no". Age of Empires, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Halo, Minecraft, Halo, Gears, Forza are all very popular games.

You previously said:

Thanks for making my point for me.

You're not really making a point, you're mad, you're mad I don't like your Microsoft games. Right? You're mad I don't like game trailers 3 months before a game comes out? Right? You're mad because I think its lame to watch the same opening we've seen to Halo since 2001? Right? You're mad because I think its lame that a big publisher is pushing indie games left and right during a marketing event that last 2 hours, I don't like it? Right?

Its subjective but I feel very confident that consensus is going to say this was a piss poor E3, that's not limited to Microsoft. If Sony didn't have anything better to show, than good job by them staying home, in my book. Literally, a huge waste of marketing money that all these publishers should obviously be investing in development.

If you liked it, nothing wrong with that... but you're probably not going to change everyone's opinion either.

Was it an “ant farm” ? For me I like to be surprised at E3 and Microsoft was able to do that with Flight Simulator, CD Red was able to do it too at Microsoft’s presentation. To say this was a complete bust is just false.

I agree it could of been a lot better, it would of been nice to see more of Halo Infinity, more of Gears, etc. Honestly I’d say Elden Ring and Bleeding Edge were ok to decent surprises if it wasn’t leaked beforehand.

It was a mediocre presentation, they could of showed more but do you really want to see games so early in development that it won’t be for a while before they release? I thought that was a huge complaint amongst gamers such as us. Especially since things change, get downgraded, etc.

6/10-7/10 grade somewhere between that.

I thought Squaresof—SquareEnix probably had the best presentation, haven’t watched Nintendo’s yet, so I can’t say if they were better.

Lol, I'm not mad. I'm just shocked at your illogical thinking. I initially replied to you because you said:

As far as a publisher goes they were just as bad, if not worse than all the rest.

My whole point has been that some people did actually enjoy some of things Microsoft showed. That's it. That's all I am saying. It's a really simple basic concept to understand and grasp. You keep arguing against my point which is hilarious. Trust me man, you aren't doing yourself any favors.

We all already saw the E3 playstation conference. It was a hidden message inside the 8 minute Death Stranding trailer. Sony beamed it directly into our brains disguised behind a game trailer. Encoded themselves into our brains and given us our directions as fanboy on how to destroy xboxs.
