Last year, Microsoft stated that Gears 5 would launch sometime in 2019. Even though half of the year is already over, we didn't get a release window or a concrete release date. Luckily, the Taiwanese games rating agency had other plans. According to a listing on the body's website, Gears 5 launches on September 10.
During E3 2019, Microsoft confirmed the release date. Gears 5 looks like it tells a personal story and focuses on the mental anguish of the main character. It's unclear where the story will go from there, but The Coalition studio head Rod Ferguson said that it's the biggest Gears game ever made.

New modes like "Escape" are also being added to the game. You have to make it out of a facility alive before you're killed by the enemy. There's a lot of like about the upcoming game, but its distribution model is even better. Aside from launching on Xbox Game Pass, Gears 5 is going to launch on Steam for PC.

Starting from the first game and skipping 2-4 isn't exactly an improvement.

Indeed, arguably the same goes for 4 unless you’d want to suck up your pride and play the windows store version.

And in this context playing gears 4 would be better than gears 1 as gears 4 was the spiritual reboot and has more relevancy to whats going on in 5 than 1 does.

I played it on my Xbox One X and my PC and I had no issues with the WS version.

The general concesus of the WS version isnt so much issues with the game itself (its a very well optimized game, ran amazingly on my old 970) but the store itself. One screw ip and you would need to re-download the game again which sucks when you have limited internet and the game is already 80+gb)

As much as I love the new Xbox game pass store ui (and yes, it’s actually good), j do wish I could play my game pass games on steam... that would be so much better for me as that’s where my pc friends list is

You can snag a used Xbox one and the Gears games for super cheap. If you wanted to play that bad.

Nope, Ultimate is a remake of Gears 1 only.

If you bought it on xbox, you’d get gears 1-3 and judgement for free as BC titles.
