So much energy spent everyday to make other people feel bad about liking a game or a console or a social media personality. So much constant negativity and vitriol and after years upon years of this people have the audacity to attach the word “community” to their efforts. If there is a greater bastardization of a term I’m not aware of it.
What community? You mean the one that jumps at every opportunity to practice in the politics of personal destruction? You mean the one that believes it has some holy consumer right to threaten and harass creators instead of just rationally deciding not to purchase whatever is being made if it doesn’t fit their tastes?
Just imagine if you had a community of people that spent the majority of its time squadding up to have fun playing video games instead of meeting up to have hate-filled podcasts? One focused on the love the hobby itself?

Rather then address the issue and ban the assholes they will clean things up and sweep it under the rug. Then the only ones banned will be the ones that bring up their hypocrisy.

I feel that Era is one of the premiere catalysts of internet outrage culture that has gone way too far...but I don't know if we can really say things like they contributed to Etika's depression and suicide. We have no evidence that he read that thread or even the forum, right? Etika did mention "social media" but that is usually reserved more for Twitter and Facebook than message boards.
As for Etika, my prayers are with his family and friends. I've seen a few of his fun reaction videos in the past and he seemed like a genuinely excited, hyped-up guy that helped others get some excitement from games as well. He will be missed.

Really no one wanted to see Etika harm himself. Some at Era were upset with the "stunt" (of course now they were proved to be serious) Etika did.
Not saying that Era thread is not a embarrassing joke, but people do downplay the seriousness of mental health and it is not limited to Era.
Please don't forget how Era was born, and we should just try to make every forum a better place instead of feeling good against each other.

The fact Era has to lock and reopen threads, mods/people deleting posts, big Official Statement, and RE people even shit in their own forum calling it out (some guy got a thread insta-banned calling out hypocrisy), it shows you got a thread with a bunch of people covering tracks and have to corral the mob mentality.
Although some RE people won't give a shit, I think there's enough daily users there who realize the shitiness of the Etika situation and have a sense of shame with what happened.
Likely won't change anything overall, but at least for one day (or a few), I think the overall community there knows what transpired, and people ragging on him didn't help.

Thing is, if you say stuff like that, you need to be ready to face possible reactions/consequences. That Etika clearly couldn't deal with it.
At the same time, that ResetEra are the biggest hypocrites in the gaming industry and need to f*ck off for getting so butthurt over a couple of words that they had to go that far.

Some members are now being banned because they're still pointing fingers mods because they want to shut down anything related to bad moderation. Members are still calling them for those terrible actions.
