Always up for more rally games. WRC 7 was actually pretty good and miles better than any of the previous officially licensed WRC games this gen. Looks like WRC 8 could be one to watch if it builds on 7. Also be interesting to see what it offers next to Dirt Rally 2.0 (I'm also hoping for a V-Rally 5 - that game is a guilty pleasure!)

Will buy (eventually). I hope they'll extend all the "epic" tracks/locations to at least match the longest one in WRC7: Poland (23km). I love properly long rally tracks.

Managed to get a hands-on WRC 8 recently, here are a couple of videos displaying progress of an alpha build.

This might be the racing game I finally buy! Unless F-Zero also comes out. I'm gonna have fun on the Switch!

How about an arcade rally game? We’ve had nothing but simulators for years.

This will fall on the arcade side of things handling wise for me unless it is a MAJOR step up into simulation physics, which I doubt. I can see they are going in that direction but I don't think it will be a "sim".

Any news on split screen local play? I prefer playing single player racing games on a PC ultrawide but having some good fun on the couch with mates could change that.

So is this 60fps on Xbox X. Eurogamer said in their review that it doesn't hit 60fps all the time like Dirt Rally 2 and it was reviewed on Xbox X and I've not seen 60fps mentioned on console on console anywhere else.

not sure what happening with those games but as much as WRC8 good looking in rain at night , its not very fun to play with controller, besides some vibrations im not very feeling car at all. maybe they tried too much for this game to be good playing with wheels. i wanted to like it and i did liked some parts of it , but then its so hard to control your car with x1 or ps4 controller. when it brakes when you try to corner it ,, i duno i just dont feel what cars doing , like it sliding via ground not actually driving . i remember i liked Dirt rally 1 much better , but later didint liked dirt 4 or dirt rally 2.0. something just not fun about it to play it with controller. yes you can learn it , but whats the point of you dont feel car.

It's been the same with WRC7, pretty horrible to play with a controller. Even a sim like Dirt Rally can nail it for the people without wheels.

I haven't played Dirt Rally 2.0 yet so I can't compare it to DR1, but I didn't have issues with Dirt 4.

I'm actually holding off getting WRC 8 for PS4 before I see the Switch version. I know it'll have downgrades but having a decent rally game on my Switch would be great. And if it turns out to be a dumpster fire, I'll just get the PS4 version.

Joking aside, I wish it looked and ran well, but I'm not expecting it to.

Still no footage of the Switch version which supposedly launches in just over a week. Really hoping the devs pull something amazing out of the bag but the signs are ominous. I mean, rally games are pretty niche so why all the secrecy. Please don't be hot garbage 15 fps with shadows appearing 6 feet in front of the car with trees and rocks popping into view 10 feet away :(

Dat YouTube compression
It's bad ain't it. Still, gives us an impression of the Switch version and I honestly don't know how I feel. The way the vehicles turns in the replays looks really 'mechanical' and the low quality dust/water spray looks odd. And the terrain of the courses just looks flat. Suppose it is running on Switch at a decent framerate though, which is what counts.

The Switch version looks like hot garbage, Birdo Birdo wasn't too far from the mark. It doesn't even look like it plays the same. This is definitely not the type of game you buy a Switch for.

I wonder if it at least has Gamecube controller support for the analog triggers.

So WRC 8 on Switch turned out to be a bit of a mess. Rejoice though - Rush Rally 3 is coming to Switch in December! It's a mobile port, but it's apparently a really good game. Third time lucky for Switch rally games after V-Rally and WRC were duds...?
