Awwww it's a fighting game? I've been wishing someone would make a KLK game but I don't do fighters :/

I read a comment saying that the actual dev team are the ones who did the Little Witch Academia game, which I haven't played but I've heard is really rough. Real shame, I would much prefer a Kill la Kill fighting game by Arc System themselves or especially a character action game by Platinum. Sadly, I fear this game will probably LOSE ITS WAY.

Still, I guess something is better than nothing. Can't imagine too many anime-original series get a video game five years after it ended. But Satsuki, Mako, and Gamagoori better be playable options at least.

hows it's going to work? How many characters does the ova has? I can see a one punch fighting game working out, but not something like this

Kill la Kill was a full 25-episode series, not an OVA, and it had plenty of characters that can serve as playable and/or opponents. Heck, I think One Punch Man Season 1 might have slightly less named characters in comparison although it's pretty close in numbers.

I'm down for any game that lets me play as Lady Sexki...Satsuki. Would prefer a normal fighting game or a Platinum action game though. Maybe the 2 leads will be added to a Arc fighter as guests down the line.

I really thought they was never going to make this a game simply because of the outfits even though we have that water gun pool anime game.

edit: on the anime , I think I saw like maybe 2 episodes but I really am not a fan of the outfits. A little too weird for me. Not quite true, I feel the outfits and the rest of the anime don't really fit.

Been waiting on a KLK game forever. Hopefully the devs punch a bit above their weight class and do it justice.

Bunch of new interesting info from Siliconera:

Here are some highlights from the interview:

  • Using simple controls, players will get to freely run about in the 3D fields.
  • There are no command moves, but attacks that can be pulled off with a directional key and button.
  • In addition to dash, step, and guard, there are also ranged attacks.
  • Players will get to perform combos by button-mashing, plus a finishing attack that comes with various scenes with a last directional input.
  • There’s a triangle system that has break attacks, blows, and guards in one part, and blows, evasive read attacks, and evasive actions.
  • There are special attacks that activates a “verbal battle” which also comes with its own triangle system of provoke, abuse, and mock.
  • By winning you’ll increase Blood Authority level, which increases the character’s stats.

Sounds weird but it matches original weirdness so we will see how it plays out in the game play :)

Interesting to see Arcsys bringing their anime renderer into 3D. There are some technical challenges that they've had to overrcome with that, pretty impressive.

Never liked the Anime and the art style but looking at this my guess this will be a switch game. Playstation right now would not even allow such a game.

It's for both.

Kill la Kill (the anime) was translated and released in the West by Aniplex, who is owned by Sony, so that makes it okay.

The game looks very promising, I´m interested in the 2D and 3D thing they´re doing and maybe I´ll pick it up.

Although I was really hoping Arc would make a Jojo´s Bizarre Adventure game but that´ll have to wait. Really looking foward to how this game turns out.

Arc System Works King of the DLC and incomplete games.

We need 5 editions of each year to get the "Complete edition"

Too shame that they have one of the best Engine for fighting games, but they have to launch a mountain of DLC expensive.

Eh, isn't that the current trend of the big fighting games though? Capcom does it, Bamco does it, Team Ninja does it, NRS does it, the only one that isn't as egregious is SNK.

Anyways going to try to get the game. Maybe the only way to show support KLK since the blu ray collection is a complete rip off.

To be fair it's just UE3/4, they just do 3d in way that is basically as if they were making 2d. If you watch them explain how they achieve the style, it's in no really much about the engine and more about how they are using it.

Well yes, but the differenc is that Arc System take about 5 years to launch a complete edition... and launch the same game only with 2 "New characters and 2 new scenarios"

Guilty Gear and Blazblue (iirc don't really follow it really) are the only ones that I remember spent a lot of time getting DLC out. DBFZ and BBtag are getting dlc out just fine. Besides this isn't being developed by Arcsys, it's A plus that's doing it.

The problem and the critic ( One of the worst games) in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is the few number of characters and dont even are differents ( Its the same roster and character of previous games) and the worst part is put other characters that has been in other games as part of DLC... WTF?!!!... What a Son of the Bitch.

Idk, man, I expect them to reuse characters/sprites from other games and not use new ones. It's an old model of fighting games. Especially since most of the major fighting game companies moved on from sprites since it's more time consuming to make. It's scummy to use DLC characters that were on disc as a price tag; Blake and I believe Yang were to be DLC but they make them free for a time.

Curious as to how the Sony censorship policy will affect this.

Did Nonon make the cut?

You think that's bad, the first 10 DLC characters were opponents in story mode in Cross Tag.... They actively waved them in front of you that you were buying characters already in the game. Not to mention the hub having a arcade mode that you can't access and still can't access because they cut content to get it out for Evo.

Nonon is in the game.

I will buy and support this because arcsystem are wizards and because they are not holding back the fan service.
Responses to some of the comments in the thread...
Fuck Platinum games Baytonetta sucks.
All fighting games do that and that is what has influenced Ark , it did not used to be that way. GG and BB used to not have that whole slow slow drip DLC (though yes there were many outfits) but you could usually just count on release then release with everything like clock work.
Let's not blow this Sony censorship thing out of proportion yet, yes it sucks but they have not gone all mother superior yet. Do not spread fud.
I trust Danjin44 Danjin44 so I will probably need to give this series a watch

Got the demo, thankfully it seems to be much better than the garbage Bamco have been tossing out, despite A+ Games track record.

Also on the site saw a DAYUM piece of pre-order artwork for the game....
