Tim Miller says ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ will ‘scare the f*ck’ out of misogynistic internet trolls

Hope none of you incels were planning to see this.
Major movie franchises such as “Ghostbusters” and “Star Wars” have been targeted by misogynistic internet trolls in recent years for prominently featuring female characters in leading roles. James Cameron’s “Terminator” franchise has long been dominated by one of cinema’s greatest female characters, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), and the upcoming reboot “Terminator: Dark Fate” triples down on leading women by casting Hamilton opposite Mackenzie Davisand Natalia Reyes.

Trolls started bashing the film the minute Paramount debuted key art depicting all three women together. For director Tim Miller, that misogynistic backlash is meaningless.

“If you’re at all enlightened, she’ll play like gangbusters. If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the fuck out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine,” Miller said. “We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early shit that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a fuck.”

OH really?
People on the internet have been crying about it having 3 female leads. Just because its 3 female leads.

When I was younger, I watched and loved the original Terminator and Alien films and had no qualms about the strong female leads. Now that I'm actively being told that they are being shoehorned in to fight some mythical oppressive patriarchy and trigger my apparently fragile male ego, I have lost all interest.

Is Tim Miller directing Doom Annihilation to feel so defensive now? Or is he trying to make Terminator now an extension of that upcoming movie too?

The trailer looked ass so seating this as a captain marvel isnt a terrible strategy if they can get the sjws mob on their side and make it to look like it's being victimized then that's probably good for +20 in rotten tomatoes. People hated the casting for Genisys but this is somehow worse.

This film is going to have a tough time at the box office. I would be surprised if it manages to break even with its budget.

Basically we have a geriatric Sarah Conor, a female terminator that looks like a lesbian Justin Bieber, and some other lead female actress who I forgot. And of course the other “bad” terminator that is a male who looks either Latin or middle eastern / Indian descent but definitely not white.

Typical new Hollywood trash.

Its not just the casting thats worse, but the plot looks about as needlessly convoluted as Genisys too.

The more I observe this day and age the more I realize I don't belong in it.

I miss the times when things made sense; when people created shit and, not only didn't give a fuck who it might offend, but also didn't virtue signal from the fucking future to declare its intent ahead of time.

I'm going to bed. When I wake up, it better be 1983, or I'm cracking skulls. 👉

I don't get this Sarah strong womenz talk. In the first movie she was running around from the Terminator not knowing WTH was going on and survives by the skin of her teeth.

The 2nd movie she is hardened from her stay in the looney bin and is a bit more bad ass but it wasn't overtly in your face and it was to protect her son at all costs. Still got her butt kicked quite a bit and needed help to win the day.

In either movies though the stars were Arnie and Ferlong/Bhien. Sarah did play 3rd fiddle really. She got a bit more shine in 2 but it was still 100% Arnies movie.

As long as she isn't doing backflips and winning MMA battles against terminators at 70 years old I think everyone will accept Sarah Conner.

The bigger problem is the other characters and the fact that the movie is going to SHIATE all over the original's entire purpose and existance. It would actually be better off to have just did a remake with gender swapping.

You want to scare movie watchers now? I have no question Terminator's can strike a nerve in you, I always interpret these things as using the movie to entertain political agendas and for those who just want to enjoy movies poor scores are what happen.

So in other words.... she is just like Sarah from the original film? I am okay with that.

Same here. Some fans are waaaay too ridiculous about all of this.

Not sure why Tim Miller is baiting people, though. That can absolutely backfire.

Preemptive damage control for a shit film. No one has a problem with strong female characters in Terminator films.

At least wait until you’ve seen it.

Terminator has been on thin ice for a long time. They never knew what to do with it after T2.

Congrats on driving the final nail into the coffin of your franchise retards.

If you think what makes Sarah Conner iconic is some kind of “you go girl” feminist bullshit then your ideas are bankrupt and your series is done.

Same here. I was going to keep an open mind about this movie since I was a big fan of the first two Terminator movies growing up but now I can't even watch a trailer for this movie without thinking about Tim Miller's unnecessary belated response to comments made almost a year ago.

Let's be honest here, while Sarah Connor was a strong female character people watched Terminator 1 and 2 for Arnold shooting things. I even enjoyed Genisys just cause it had Arnold shooting things and an Arnold vs Arnold scene. I'm going to watch Dark Fate for Arnold and I'm going to enjoy it because of Arnold.

It’s all bullshit.
My favourite movie genre is horror and the amount of male leads/survivors in those films are practically non-existant.

lmao yup. they have to push the feminist bullshit too. cant even imagine how an i spit on your grave remake would be. well another remake anyway. 2010 was a different time.

Such hubris. I wonder if Tim Miller is in a Hollywood echo chamber and doesn't realize how much normies and Asian audiences shake their heads at SWJ shoved in movies.

Their goal is to show that Sarah Connor is better than the other old action stars like Liam Neeson. That's a bad sign.

The trailer showed the female Terminator kicking the villain Terminator's ass repeatedly - way to kill off tension months before release, marketing team.

After T-1000, they needed another better idea other than just doing an older model + liquid metal mix. The t-1000 remains the most advanced Terminator. I guess the Nano Machine Terminator from Genysis was a step in the right direction - unfortunately the execution sucked.

Something like Iron Man's Bleeding Edge nano-tech armor from the later Avengers movies - they could take inspiration from that.

In the first Terminator, Sarah was a 19 year old college student thrown into an unbelievable world and survived against impossible odds. The 10-11 years since the first film, Sarah has essentially become a terminator herself. Cold, calculating and determined to do whatever it takes to ensure her son’s destiny is fulfilled. We see a human slowly becoming machine, and a machine that slowly becomes human. In the end, both characters find the middle way. I absolutely agree with your statement about no one having an issue with strong female characters. The real issue is, can there ever be a more intimidating villain (in this franchise) than Robert Patrick’s T-1000.

Oh great, more shit for the incels to bitch at. Trigger Paradise.

Women and minorites set y'all on fire.

Maybe instead of running these franchises into the ground they should make something new. Find the next thing to run into the ground ffs. Then you don't have to play by the rules of the Terminator universe that only seem to be able to go so far before it seems like a parody of itself. The mythology of the universe here was not mapped out or rich enough to be applied to 6 movies and a television show that's for fucking sure. In a creative world this would be a 3 movie "franchise" and that is it. First 2 movies were perfect. Third movie set in the future they show in the first two movies with a solid, satisfying ending to the whole thing. Terminator Salvation but done right.
