Ending already? Guess it makes sense... Visual representation of a Nintendo executive remembering people might be buying a 3 years old game for less than full price:

(Anyway as far as Nintendo goes this is a decent deal so thanks for the heads up that it's ending)

Guess I'll have to buy more before the month ends. Just used my second one for Fire Emblem.

Think my next two will be for DQXI S and LoZ: Links Awakening

So i bought pokemon let go and smash brothers. What games are good for a 4 year old? Im thinking mario party and mario kart? He didnt do good with smash because he falls off the maps and gets frustrated. He liked burnstar and snipperclips.

Mario Kart does have an auto-steer "bumper" mode to keep you on the track, so that's a good rec. Maybe Kirby too? It's pretty fun in co-op. It and Mario Wii U DX have that partner saving feature - you basically both would have to die to lose.

It's a shame this thing is ending. I wasn't really thinking of it as a limited time offer. I have 2 vouchers right now, may have to pick up two more.

It doesn't really seem like that good of a deal. You have to have a $20 online membership to get a $100 2-game deal. So you've spent $120 for 2 $60 games and you have to use both tickets in the same calendar year even if you may not have wanted a specific game enough to buy it without the ticket.

Yeah but if you're already subscribing anyway, and want two games that are on offer, it's a fantastic deal. I would say it's not worth subscribing for though.

I don't think this is available on the Japanese eshop is it? Is the switch region locked?
Nope.

Save $10 more doing this:

1. But $50 eshop card from Costco for $45. Get two for $90.

2. Use those eshop cards to buy vouchers.

Basically, You save $30, plus as said above, you get $5 in eshop gold points for every two vouchers.

Cheaper on Massgenie. $41.95 for $50 eShop. Been buying my cards there for ages.

Thanks for the heads up OP, got two vouchers for Pokemon Sword and Zelda; Link’s Awakening. If they add Luigi’s Mansion 3 will get two more for that and Astral Chain.

It’s a really good deal in the UK, £84, and I even got £15 off with some coins I had, so getting both Pokemon Sword and Zelda: Link’s Awakening gor £35 each.

Aside from Nintendo Selects, this is one of the best deals we got from Nintendo.

I think this is the first time? Digital rates would be high this generation.

It's not a permanent part of their online offerings?

Well that's utter bollocks. It was the one genuinely good thing about the paywall. Oh well, best grab a couple while I can I guess.

Seriously though, Nintendo just seem to want to make their online 'service' as poor a value for money and obvious cash grab as they can.

I'm not going to say it's perfect, but it's a great value. Just 2019's GOTY 'Tetris 99' makes it worth the 20 bucks a year, plus free offers through Twitch, game bundles, etc., the steal of a deal "family plan", and among the best evergreen online multiplayer games: Mario Maker 2, Splatoon 2, Smash Ultimate, and Mario Kart 8. If you're waiting for a match, you're router is unplugged.

Do I wish I got more for my money? Of course! But it's not any more a "cash grab" than Sony and MS' services.

You sure Nintendo fans will say that this is a good deal because they are getting online for free in this case?

Pimentel1 has a better deal in this case.

It's a bad deal in Europe as the games usual price is £10/€15lower anyway.

You're assuming I dont think the other paywalls to playing online aren't also cash grabs. It's all bollocks as far as I'm concerned.

Saying that, at least the other devices give far better discounts even than the vouchers did, and give you a lot more games that ate not just ancient titles most of us played 30 years ago and yet another variation on Tetris.

I've seen zero evidence that the quality of online gaming has improved since Nintendo changed it to require payment to access, nor had I seen any evidence before the paywall was implemented from their financial briefings that providing that service for free was in anyway hurting them as a business.

With that taken away, all I see we get for our money are a few old NES games worth pennies each, and a Tetris game of no greater quality or value than a hundred other indie titles Xbox Gold or PSPlus give away every month, the kind most people find a disappointment. Simply that Nintendo's version is cheaper doesn't not make it better value for money as far as I'm concerned.

I will grant you that the family subscription plan is a good idea though, and something the other two should implement themselves. I'd still rather all three were done away with however, at least when it comes to playing online.

Just go to Walmart,in store or online ,all Nintendo first party games are $50.00 USD,they have been for months.
Some of the games are cheaper online such as Let's go Pikachu at $45.00 and Let's Go Evee at $40.00.

We agree then they're all shit sandwiches, but for me Nintendo's got the best bread.

The voucher discounts are great because they're for games I actually want enough to pay full price Day 1 - I haven't seen a Sony promotion that saved me money on future titles in a few years. Plus, yeah, I save the money on PS Plus sale prices, but those are generally on games I didnct want at full price - they are strictly that: sales, not savings. I think it comes down to gamer taste and buying habits, but for me personally I'm super psyched to have save over 50 bucks on game I was getting anyway.

I also agree the online isn't better from the paywall, but it never is. Default on all services is P2P, so it comes down to the other 'Ps'. Knuckleheads on Wi-Fi are fucking up everyone's sessions, and Nintendo's platform requires the most to get on LAN. The dregs are probably worse on Switch, the connections are better at higher ranks because of the dedicated base who uses LAN adapters, which is true of all platforms.

I agree I'd rather be paying for a premium service than justify it the way we are doing, but thems the brakes, and the way the wind is blowing regarding streaming and subscriptions, it's only going to continue down that path.

As far as Tetris 99 goes, we do not agree, and I'd slap you with a lily white glove (in the most gentlemanly way possible) and challenge you to a duel if I could, as your wrongness is an affront to all things good and right in gaming that I will not suffer good sir!

The strategy and tactics to win are a near complete inversion of standard Tetris best practice. For all the versions of Tetris going, there is absolutely nothing like it that's come before. It's also an "Avoir l'Esprit d'Escalier": a diabolically witty retort to the state of gaming from the Old School - moreso than any pretentious indie project or 4th wall gimmicky commentary. GOTG.

Yep. In my case I already had a membership and new I wanted Mario Maker 2 digitally so it was a no brainer. Hoping Animal Crossing gets added as that's the next exclusive I'd prefer to have digitally.

Fair enough, I'd say its definitely more a personal preference and buying habit thing then, so no worries.

I'm also not saying Tetris 99 isn't good, but I am saying Tetris Effect is better IMO, so lets just say we're both winners this gen really!

The store is down for maintenance. Was about to purchase a voucher or two to hold on to (trying to squeeze every day, because they expire 365 days from purchase date).

Will save for Luigi’s Mansion and DQ this year and save the other two for next year.

The Man With The Golden Dong
Yep thanks for the heads up. Seriously thought this was permanent. Confusing messaging from Nintendo as usual.

Wait, I thought the list of games was fixed and wasn't going to change. We can use this for Luigi's Mansion and any other games down the road up to a year?
[Edit] Looks like Luigi's Mansion 3 was added since I last checked. So I just bought another voucher for that and any other game I decide on next year.

Since I'm still buying physical this doesn't help me. At least until my Best Buy GCU runs out physical is a better deal for me. I'm still not on the all-digital bandwagon because I hate the future prospect of losing the games if a shop permanently shuts down. (And yes, I know the updates for the physical games would still be needed, but carts make me feel safer.)

Whew. I meant to buy another set of vouchers last night, completely forgot, and felt bad. Checked this morning and they could still be purchased. Now I've got a total of three games to have to pick out. Wish bayonetta 3 was going to make it in time, but it probably isn't.

Vouchers no longer available for purchase on US eshop. Bought my last two yesterday. Used 1 for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. 7 left to use.
